POOMSAE PLAYERS INFORMATION WT RULES - WT DIVISIONS FOR BLACK BELTS The latest WT poomsae competition rules and interpretation will be applied in this tournament (except: participants can compete in more than 2 events in the tournaments.) WT Cut Off system Final: any division with less than 9 competitors advances straight to Final round. WT Cut Off System Semi-Final: When 9 to 19 contestants are participating; competition shall start from semi-final round, Contestants shall perform the two assigned compulsory Poomsae, and, 8 of them shall be advanced to final based on their points. All black belt contestants entering the WT Poomsae divisions must wear WT Approved Poomsae Uniform RECOGNISED POOMSAE COMPETITION : INDIVIDUAL - WT DIVISION RULES This tournament is a TNZ-5 ranked sanctioned tournament and points will be awarded to black belt competitors in Poomsae and used as part of the selection process for the TNZ National Poomsae TEAM. The successful candidates will be eligible to participate at the 2018 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships to be held in Taipei, Taiwan from November 15 to 18, 2018 (WTPC). Central DB and TNZ's objective is to identify the Taekwondo New Zealand athletes to be named to the 2018 World Taekwondo POOMSE Championships Team after the TNZ Central District Open. Eligibility requirements are that the successful athletes must: Be age 12 years and over Be registered participants in good standing of Taekwondo New Zealand (TNZ) Must hold/be a NZ Citizen or Permanent Residency Be Kukkiwon Poom or Dan certificate holders Hold a valid World Taekwondo Global Athlete License The successful athlete must participate in TNZ s district training and development camps in New Zealand Currently be eligible to represent New Zealand at major International events under the eligibility requirements of World Taekwondo (WT) and Taekwondo New Zealand (TNZ) Adhere to the World Anti-Doping Code and sign athlete agreement as required by taekwondo new Zealand This protocol is subject to change if there are changes initiated by World Taekwondo MAXIMUM REGISTRATION COMPETITION WT - FORMAT Athletes may enter in maximum of FOUR (4) Divisions of competition unless he or she is limited by gender or age. Central District Board (CDB) reserves the right to modify the competition format for all divisions in accordance with WT rules. WT Poomsae Pairs Poomsae must be mixed gender and Teams are single gender. FREE STYLE WT - COMPETITION The music and choreography must be submitted to centraldb@taekwondo.nz.com via email in MP FORMAT by Friday, 22nd of June 2018. 4 POOMSAE PLAYERS INFORMATION WT - RECOGNISED POOMSAE CLASSIFICATION The age limit for each division is based on the year not on the date when the Championships are held. For example, in the Junior division, contestants shall be between 15 and 17 years old; therefore, if the Junior Poomsae Championships are held on 29 July, 2018, contestants born between 1 January 2001 and 1 December 200 are eligible to participate. 5. Men, women and mixed divisions shall be divided according to age. 6. FREESTYLE INDIVIDUAL FREESTYLE PAIRS: 2 PLAYERS FREESTYLE TEAM: - 5 PLAYERS Any age, gender, belt. Free Style Poomsae composition shall include: (deduction if not!) 1) Starting poom: Crane stance or Back stance or Tiger stance 2) Routines of compulsory techniques: (artistic and acrobatic freestyle movements) Flying side kick, Jumping front kicks, Spinning actions - min 60 degrees, fight sequence to 5 bounces before performing routine, acrobatic action should include a jumping kick and not be on the ground when executed. ) Free selection movements for transition parts. 4) Finishing poom 5) In composition of the routine the contestant(s) may freely choose the order of techniques and the parts in. 6 POOMSAE PLAYERS INFORMATION TRADITIONAL POOMSAE COMPETITION : COLOUR BELTS & BLACK BELTS Traditional Poomsae is a different category to the WT classification. Patterns must be WT Patterns. In the traditional Poomsae competition, the required Poomsaes and patterns are provided below. Each contestant is required to perform two patterns as listed below. Colour belts will perform the two patterns as indicated in the list below. Traditional Black belt contestants will perform the compulsory Poomsae 1 and compulsory Poomsae 2 For traditional Poomsae pairs and team, can be of any mixed genders. Preliminary and semi-finals will only apply if the division exceeds 9 athletes. Any division with less than 9 competitors advances straight to Final round. A GENERAL INFORMATION ATHLETES DRAW POOMSAE Detailed report times will be published prior to the start of the competition on TNZ website and on TNZ Facebook page. Designated Poomsae will be drawn and life streamed on Friday, 20th of April between 6pm and 9pm and published on TNZ website and on TNZ Facebook page. Colour Belts are required to perform two patterns from the compulsory tournament list as listed above. TAEM LIST AND COMPETITORS DECLARATION Team lists and competitors declaration need to be completed and can be sent via email to centraldb@taekwondonz.com All entry forms must be handed to the Athletes Check-In desk on the morning of competition. LIABILITY AND WAVER As a requirement for event registration, I agree to the terms and conditions as listed below. DRESS CODE COACHES AND ATHLETES Coaches: athletic attire/team tracksuit or business attire. Athletes: WT- uniforms are required and team jackets or track suits. POOMSAE CHECK-IN DESK All Poomsae athletes and their coaches need to register by presenting their entry form at the Poomsae Check-In desk as ready before proceeding to their match at 9am. All athletes and their coaches need to be ready at Check-in and will be escorted to the Poomsae Athlete Waiting Area. Coaches must stay with their athletes in the waiting area, until their poomsae competition starts. MANAGERS & OFFICIALS MEETING DESK Health and safety briefing will take place at 8:15am at the Managers & Officials Meeting desk. Managers are required to attend and ensure their teams are briefed on health and safety details. Evacuation and emergency information will be included in the draw. All attendees are required to follow correct health and safety procedure at all times. In the case of an emergency the Event Manager will take on the role of Emergency Warden, and all attendees must follow the directions given. Any alarm activated will automatically activate a fire brigade callout. False callouts will incur a $1000 fee, liable to the person who activated the alarm. POOMSAE WARM - UP AREA Warm up areas are allowed for competitors with their trainers/coaches only. Please respect others spaces and belongings in the warm up area. Competitors Training Requirements Responsibility/ Monitoring of Controls Wear protective equipment as specified in rules and additional equipment if deemed necessary by Event Manager (e.g. mouth-guard). Abide by competition rules. Competitors are not to compete without doctors approval if they suffer from a medical condition which could be worsened by competing. Do not compete if they have received a head injury (e.g. concussion) within 0 days preceding competition. As well as this stand-down period a medical clearance is required before competing again. Referees should complete appropriate training to the level where they are confident and knowledgeable to apply the rules as assessed by an experienced referee or trainer, and are sufficiently competent through training and experience to control the level of match they are officiating. Referees are required to undergo regular training to refresh their skills and knowledge of current rules, signals and procedures. Coaches preferably should have sufficient experience to identify if their competitor is at risk and/or hold a recognised coaching qualification (e.g. CNZ Level 1 or above).
