Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway (St. Rd. 192), Kissimmee, FL 34744. The business meeting starts at 10:00 am and is followed by a painting workshop/seminar. Guests are welcome to attend a meeting to see what we are all about before deciding on membership. Chapter membership is open to all members of Society of Decorative Painters. You can find more information on SDP at decorativepainters.org. ODA chapter dues for 2018 are $25/year. ODA Board meetings for 2018 will be held immediately before the general meetings, beginning at 9:00am. All Board members are asked to make every effort to attend these meetings. Enclosed with The Decorative Painter, Spring 2018 issue, is SDP s 2018 Proposed Bylaw & Standing Rules Amendment. It s almost four pages of changes and lots of red on them which means proposed additions. The annual meeting will be held at the conference on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 9:00 am until noon. Please note on page 2, Section 2, D. Absentee Voting should you not be planning to attend the conference. Karen Allen and I are on the Volunteers Committee for our upcoming SDP Conference in Daytona this May. We want to reward our volunteers with prizes for their hard work at Conference. The prizes will be art provided by YOU! If you have any artwork you would be willing to donate for this cause, please do. It can be anything, large or small, painted, mudded, poured. We will love having it. Please bring them to the April meeting. I will gather them and take them to Conference in May. If you wish to donate some art, and are attending Conference, you may bring it with you to the Volunteers Booth which will be located in the main lobby of the conference center. April 21, 2018 Oval Coisonné Box designed by Judy Diephouse Taught by Mary Francis SURFACE Brushes n More at a cost of $11.50 each plus shipping, for an estimated total of $15.00 each call them at 281-259-3730 and ask for the 9 x 7 x 2-1/2 Oval Bentwood Box. The surface you will be painting on measures 7-1/2 x 5-1/2. A Paper Mache box would be fine, but you must seal it prior to painting on it. A flat surface would be fine also, but you won t have the side design to put on. PREPARATION: Sand, Seal, Sand, and basecoat your surface; first coat with 1/2 sealer + 1/2 BLACK with a little flow medium. Final coats of thinned straight black should be finely sanded, and bring it to class. SUPPLIES: Paints: DecoArt: Lamp Black, Burnt Umber, and Burnt Sienna. DecoArt Satin Varnish -- VERY IMPORTANT AS THIS IS YOUR MEDIUM. Brushes: #2, #4, #8, #12 flats -- #10/0 liner -- #1, #2 rounds (liners okay) --, 1/4 stipple brush (deerfoot or other) MISCELLANEOUS: Stylus Transfer paper (white graphite) Tracing paper Palette Knife Paper Towels Vinyl gloves to cover your hands as you work with the KWIKWOOD: 1 oz, QUIKWOOD (Home Depot and Lowe s sells this in the paint and wood filler area for approximately $5.78 per tube plus tax. You only need one tube (1 oz.) (This is for the tree) BRONZING POWDERS: Jean Zawicki and Judi Arntz are providing us with the Bronzing Powders used in this class. Hopefully, we will have enough. Osceola Decorative Artists General Meeting Minutes March 17, 2018 2018 General Meeting Minutes Debbie Smith Meeting was called to order by President Nan Paras at 10:12 a.m. There were no guests. Motioned to accept Treasurer s report as published was made by Barbara Layton and seconded by Jill Terrell. Motioned to accept Secretary s report as published was made by Bertie Porter and seconded by Sandi Byers. Committee reports: First Vice-President: Lynn asked for opinions on email that was sent to membership for a white elephant auction. It was agreed to have one and discussion suggested doing it in November. Mary Francis needs to know by March 19th of a member will be attending the April workshop. Supplies need to be ordered. Photo for May workshop is in the newsletter. There will be a membership luncheon in June. Ideas were discussed for invitations to the public, quick and easy projects, hope box displays, a huge show and tell and a pot luck lunch. Also, rewards for guests. Sandy Roberts will chair with Jill Terrell, Debbie Smith and Barbara Layton on the committee. July and August projects are still opened. Discussion on the possibility of having Mark Melendez and Janelle Johnson for a one day workshop. Barbara Layton will contact Mark and Bertie Porter will get in touch with Janelle on projects and availability. For the November workshop there will be stations set up to do ornament projects after the auction. Hope Boxes: Jean announced there will be reward program like last year. Also, there is a need for suitcases or large duffel bags. Barbara Layton shared that she will continue to purchase boxes but it is getting harder to find blank ones but she will continue to get them. 50/50: it was voted and passed that we will not do drawing every meeting. Barbara Layton donated a gift and it was auctioned off and she will accept any donations for that reason. April 2018 7

New Business: Karen Allen asked that if anyone planning on attending conference to consider volunteering. Mary Francis is chairing the activity and there will be rewards for volunteers. If anyone would like to participate please see Mary. SDP is also accepting painted pieces for prizes. Judi Arntz asked for some help with stain glass experience. She has a piece that needs modifications and if anyone has supplies please let her know. Mary Frances is teaching next month project which requires Kwikwood. She suggested to Goggle Lowes to obtain some. Former member Brenda Polcynski has announced that the Art Center artist guild is accepting new members but they don t want painters.
