Please offer swimming test to my child to allow him/her to swim in the deep end. Children third grade and under will not be permitted to swim in the deep end of the pool unless they pass our swim test by meeting the following requirements: swimming pool length without break, tread water in deep end for 1 minute with arms above head, and swim the pool width underwater. If your child can pass this test they are then ready to swim in the deep end of the pool. Each swimmer who passes the deep water test will receive a bracelet or stamp to wear that will announce to the lifeguard that that camper is allowed in the deep end. If the bracelet is lost or removed, the swimmer will need to retake the deep water test at our convenience. These rules have been established in the best interest and safety of your child while at our pool. For Lifeguard Use Only: Date tested: Guard s Name: Passed Failed

Information and Sign-Up Sheet Parents: Please represent your child s skill level honestly on this sign-up form. There is no benefit to the child if they are placed in a level above their skill. They become overwhelmed, even frightened, and riding stops being the fun, healthy activity it is. Additionally, the child s riding level is ultimately determined by the instructor after they have assessed the child s ability. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Level # 1 BEGINNER RIDER A beginner rider is one that has little or no experience with horses. They are not able to ride the horse securely at any gait (speed of movement) faster than a walk. A beginner will be shown how to hold the reins and sit properly in the saddle, etc. from the first time they ride; until the instructor feels they can handle the horse on their own, however, the instructor will use a lead rope to maintain primary control of the horse. The child will also learn how to tack up and groom their horse correctly, including learning the parts of the horse and tack. The child will advance levels as necessary at the sole discretion of the instructor(s). Level # 2 INTERMEDIATE RIDER An intermediate rider is one that has had fairly consistent previous riding experience, specifically, having learned to walk and trot (or jog if Western) correctly in another lesson program. An intermediate rider will be able to perform the posting and sitting trot or jog, and know the diagonals. In this level of riding, they will be learning how to use cavaletti (trotting poles) and the two- and three-point positions in preparation for learning how to canter and jump (or lope if Western). The child will switch levels at the sole discretion of the instructor(s). Rates/Requirements: Horseback riding lessons are weather-dependent and on a first come first serve basis. Rainout days will be rescheduled, but not refunded. Lessons will be offered on Wednesdays. The lessons are 30 minutes long, and are $40.00 each. In order to ride, the child must have long riding pants and sturdy boots with a defined heel (hiking boots, cowboy boots, or riding boots of some kind are a must no high heels, snow boots, Uggs, or fashion boots!). A.S.T.M./SEI certified equestrian helmets are provided by the camp. Please return the below portion of this form in an envelope with payment. Please fill out one form per child. Thank you!
