November 2016 Newsletter Charter #2786 In This Issue President s Message October Club Meeting October Fun Fly President s Message Hello Fellow Ute RC Modelers, Salt Lake Modelport Reopening Upcoming Events Thank you for all your support at the modelport grand opening. It was amazing to see such a great turnout and we couldn't have had more beautiful weather on November 2nd! I hope everyone has been able to get out and see the new flying field even if they didn't make it to the grand opening. A few construction tasks remain before it could be called complete, and there will be many improvements to make over the years as we refine and make the modelport exactly what it should be. Bob West has volunteered to head up a council to plan for these improvements. Let's pace ourselves and do a little here and a little there so that we don't upset the City with undue demands and so we don't overburden ourselves and lose our drive. Regardless of what remains to be done, the modelport is a fine facility and I'm very glad to finally have it open for use. Be sure to thank the folks with the parks department if you get a chance. Without them coming onto the scene at the beginning of this year, we still wouldn't have a modelport. I look forward to having several organized flying events at the modelport like we did in years past, including Warbirds/Expo, Electric fly, etc. This month is the time to vote for next year's club officers. The nominees from last month's meeting were: Aaron Loertscher as Newsletter Editor, Dean Allen as Fun Fly Coordinator, Mario Valencia as Safety Officer, Keith Hiatt as Secretary/Treasurer, Carlos Melendez as Vice President, and Aaron Greer as President. Ed Stimpson has re-upped for another year as our club photographer. I appreciate all the work put in by the officers throughout this year. They have made it an enjoyable and action packed year with lots of fun fly events and good food, plus the build activities and much more. Thanks Paul, Keith, Tom, Steve, Aaron, and Ed! Also at this month's club meeting we'll get a mini-report on the St. George electric festival put on by the Remote Possibilities club, learn about 3D printing, and more! Bring in your build projects and let us know what you'll be working on this Winter. I hope to see you there! Don't forget about the club Christmas party and dinner next month December 15th at 6:30 at the Golden Corral in West Valley (3399 W 3500 S). This is a different location than the last several years! Happy flying, Aaron Greer Ute Radio Control Association November 2016 Page 1 of 10
