The William and Mary Cycling Team Presents: The Tidewater Classic March 17 th and 18 th USAC Permit Pending The William and Mary Cycling Club is proud to present the 7 th annual Tidewater Classic. Collegiate racers will be featured on March 17 th, with a criterium on the main streets of New Town and a blazing fast time trial on the roads of James City County. On Sunday, March 18 th, the team will open up their doors to open racers in our classic road race course, featuring the infamous KOA hill.
St. Patrick s Day Criterium (Collegiate Only) The Course: The course will be a fast.4 mile loop on the main roads of New Town. The Course Starts right in front of the movie theater and runs counterclockwise. Featuring four fast 90 turns, a technical U-turn and a light cobble section at the start/finish, the course will surely push the limits of all riders physical and technical abilities. The address is 4911 Courthouse Street, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Parking: Parking for racers will be in the lots along Discovery Park Blvd. Signs and volunteers will be there to direct racers where to park. James City Time Trial (Collegiate Only) The Course: The 10.8 mile Time Trial course will be a sure hit this year as people push their limits on the roads of James City County. The course features a blazing fast descent at the start down KOA hill, followed immediately by a short climb up the other side. From there, the riders will take a wide left turn onto Riverview Road, followed by a false flat until there is a right turn onto the York River Park Road. York River Park Road features winding turns and several tough kickers, which will certainly push riders to the limit, ending with a lollipop turn around so that riders can do it all over again back out of York River and finishing with the brutal climb up KOA See page 4 for directions and parking The first Riders will be off at 2:30 with 30 second intervals in between subsequent riders and 4 minute intervals between categories. Tidewater Classic Road Race (Collegiate and Open) The Course: A 9.38 miles mostly flat loop with two significant climbs. From the staging area racers will head south toward Williamsburg before turning right onto Fenton Mill Road and hitting the first climb of the lap on their way to the bustling metropolis of Croaker, VA. A quick right onto the flats of Riverview Road will be followed by another right down scenic Newman road and the run up to the decisive climb of the loop and the hilltop finish line of the dreaded KOA hill. Collegiate registration will be done through the ACCC website. Registration for each race will be: Criterium: $22 Time Trial: $19 Road Race: $25 A $2 fee will be added for day-off registration Open registration will be with Bikereg.com http://www.bikereg.com/15457 Day of registration will increase by $5 for all categories other than cat 5 s, cat 4 women, and juniors One day open licenses will be available for $10 Parking Parking for the Time trial and Road race will be in the lower section of Williamsburg KOA (4000 Newman Road, Williamsburg, VA) at the bottom of the hill.
