Teams are formed all over the country and riders take regular lessons to practice for competitions. At competitions, riders use horses assigned at random that are provided by the competition, not their own horse or horses from their riding program. About the Instructors: The 2016/2017 school season is the inaugural season for the TCS team. Treasure Coast Stable s head trainer JP Roukis has partnered with Shanna Shachenbacher to provide the most comprehensive program of any IEA team. Shanna has an expertise in developing grass roots riders in a way that gives them the strongest foundation possible in a positive atmosphere. JP Roukis has a track record of developing young riders to the top of the sport. Riders training with JP have reached the Grand Prix level in show jumping, ribbons in regional equitation finals, championships at major competitions including multiple champions at WEF, and participation in national equitation finals including ASPCA Maclay finals. Riders from Treasure Coast Stables have also gone on to receive significant scholarships to ride in the NCAA program in college. Riders will be responsible for grooming their horse before and after their lesson as well as tacking and untacking their horse. Assistance with this will be provided for beginner or inexperienced riders. Shanna may put riders in groups or single lessons depending on schedule and horse availability. All riders will be guaranteed time availability for two lessons per week. If a rider is unable to take two lessons in a given week, the rider may take additional lessons on a subsequent week only if schedule availability allows. If Shana is unable to offer two lessons to a rider in a given week due to her unavailability, the rider will be offered a make-up time the following week. Make-up lessons will not be guaranteed if missed due to inclement weather, but every effort will be made to re-schedule lessons if inclement weather forces a cancelation. If a rider does not take 38 lessons in a season no refund will be provided, the lessons are not credited towards a future season, and the missed lessons may not be credited towards shows. Riders are encouraged to take as many lessons as possible in a season. If a rider is expected to exceed 38 lessons in a season, the parent will be notified when the rider reaches approximately 34 lessons. JP Roukis will be scheduled to act as the trainer at all competitions. 5 riders must sign up in order to guarantee the IEA team s attendance at a show. If less than 5 riders sign up, JP Roukis will announce 7 days prior if the team will be attending the show with less than 5 riders.
