ABOUT US... For many years, Westway FC has been providing talented young local players with high quality coaching in state of the art facilities. In doing so, we have been making a fantastic contribution to our local community by developing children both on and off the pitch, as well as providing a platform for our most talented players to move on to professional football clubs. We are a Football Association Charter Standard Club, having been recognised by the FA for our high standards of coaching, administration, child safeguarding, and commitment to improving the standards of youth football. We currently run seven teams from U9-U15, which compete in the Camden and Islington Youth Football League (CIYFL), and also run a Skills Programme for players who are either not yet ready for the League Teams, or cannot commit to CIYFL matches In 2018, Westway FC adopted its first official club badge. Given the club's proximity and attachment to the Grenfell Tower, we wanted to pay homage to the victims of the tragedy in 2017 and included over 70 stars in the badge in memory of the victims.

LEAGUE FORMATS... Age Group: Playing Format: Match Duration:... U9 & U10 7-a-side 2x20 minute halves... U11-U15 7-a-side 2x25 minute halves... League Type In line with The FA guidelines, our teams from U9 - U11 will play in non-competitive leagues. This means that there is no league table or results published and that matches are played to focus on player development rather than to win at all costs. Our U12 - U15 teams however, will play in competitive leagues wherein league tables and results are published. With that said, all of our teams will play in competitive tournaments throughout the season in order to ensure that an element of competition remains.
TOURNAMENTS... When our league season finishes in May, our teams will participate in a number of tournaments throughout the summer term in order to continuously provide the players with valuable match play. SHOWCASE MATCHES... To supplement our games programme at Market Road, throughout the season, we will arrange matches against the Development Centre or Academy teams of local professional football clubs, in order to give our players the opportunity to play against elite teams, and also to give our players the opportunity to be seen by local professional clubs. The players that will represent the club for the aforementioned matches will be selected based on attendance, effort, and performances at training and matches over the preceding weeks and months.
PARENTS MATCHES... Throughout the season, we will run a series of friendly football matches in which the Westway FC parents can compete. The matches will consist of teams comprising Westway FC parents and coaches and will be a great way to show the children who they get their talent from! Details of the parents' matches will be communicated throughout the season.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY... At Westway FC, we believe in providing our players with a holistic development pathway from the moment they join the club. As a result, our mission is to provide our players with a player-centred football environment wherein each child: Enjoys playing the game Develops as a football player Is developed with a long term focus through age appropriate coaching Receives positive support from their coach Feels like an important part of their team, regardless of ability level Learns life skills that are important beyond the football pitch In line with our holistic development philosophy, we view the player development process through the lens of the Four Corner Model ; that is, we will look to develop each player in the following ways: Physical, Technical, Tactical, and Psychological/Social. In doing so, we believe this gives our players the best opportunity to reach their potential, as a sportsperson, as well as an individual.
