Pittsburgh Pirates (57-55) vs. LOS ANGELES DODGS (64-50) RHP Ivan Nova (8-6, 4.80) vs. RHP Ross Stripling (3-3, 3.79) Friday, Aug. 12, 2016 7:10 p.m. PT Dodger Stadium Los Angeles, CA Game 115 Home Game 60 (37-22) Night Game 85 (44-40) TV: SNLA/SNLA Spanish Radio: AM 570 (Eng.)/KTNQ 1020 AM (Span.)/AM 1540 (Kor.) BATTLESHIP: The Dodgers continue their nine-game homestand (4-2) with the first of three games against the Pittsburgh Pirates following yesterday s off-day. Los Angeles, which had its four-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday, took two of three from both the Red Sox and Phillies to open the homestand and looks to continue its winning ways against the Pirates, who won three of four games against the Dodgers June 24-27 at PNC Park. Following the Pittsburgh series, the Dodgers will embark on a seven-game road trip to Philadelphia (three games) and Cincinnati (four games). The Dodgers are 1.0 game behind the Giants in the NL West and continue to lead the NL Wild Card chase, 4.0 games ahead of the Miami Marlins. The Dodgers have the second-best home record in the NL at 37-22 (.627), behind only the Cubs 40-17 (.702). After opening the season by going 9-12 in their first 21 games at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers are 28-10 at home since May 17. ROST UPDATE: Earlier today, the Dodgers reinstated right-hander Joe Blanton from the Bereavement List and optioned left-hander Luis Avilan to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Blanton last pitched on Aug. 7 and has tossed scoreless relief in his last five games (5.0 IP) since July 31. MASS PRODUCTION: The Dodger offense has caught fire since the All-Star break, leading the NL with a.458 slugging percentage and ranking among the Senior Circuit s best in runs per game (5.30, 2 nd ), batting average (.272, 2 nd ) and on-base percentage (.335, 3 rd ) in 23 games. Yasmani Grandal had his nine-game hitting streak snapped on Wednesday, but leads the National League with 12 home runs and a.772 slugging percentage (min. 100 PA) since June 30. In that span, Grandal is batting.337 (31-for-92, 6 th NL) with a.465 on-base percentage (2 nd NL) in 29 games. Justin Turner struck out as a pinch-hitter on Wednesday, which snapped his hitting streak at 10 games. Turner has been one of the NL s top hitters in his last 52 games since June 10, leading the Senior Circuit in home runs (17) and slugging percentage (.660) in that span, while ranking among the league s best in doubles (18, T-4 th ), RBI (47, 2 nd ) and batting average (.325, 12 th, 67-for-206). Overall, Turner is batting.337 with runners in scoring position (28-for-83, 12 th NL). Adrián González has hit safely in his last five games (.550, 11-for-20, 4 2B, HR, 4 RBI) and is hitting.361 (48-for-133) in his last 37 games since June 27, the second-best mark in the NL in that span (Jay Bruce,.393). During that time, González has posted a.430 on-base percentage (3 rd NL) and a.534 slugging percentage, while going 15-for-34 (.441) with runners in scoring position. CALL HIM ROY: Dodger rookie shortstop Corey Seager has strung together three consecutive multi-hit games and continues to rank among the National League leaders in runs (73, T-4 th ), hits (135, 4 th ), doubles (32, T-3 rd ), home runs (21, T-14 th ), batting average (.305, 13 th ) and slugging percentage (.534). He is batting.346 with runners in scoring position (27-for-78), the seventh-best mark in NL. Seager already holds the Los Angeles Dodger single-season rookie record for doubles (32), breaking the mark previously held by Eric Karros (30, 1992). Seager still sits one home run shy of the franchise mark for homers by a shortstop, currently held by Glenn Wright, who belted 22 in 1930. BANGED UP: The Dodgers have had 26 players on the DL this year, the most ever by a National League club and the second most by any team in the last 30 years since 1987, behind only the 2012 Red Sox (27). Casey Fien tossed a scoreless inning last night for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga in his third rehab appearance as he continues to work his way back from a bout with right elbow tendinitis. Fien last pitched in a big-league game on July 16 and has gone 0-1 with a 4.09 A in 21 games with the Dodgers this season.
