Spirit week is designed to help get us fired up for the big Homecoming football game. There are signs posted all around the school, and in the cafeteria, that outline our Spirit days. Keep in mind that our dress code is still in effect during this week. Choose your outfits accordingly. Monday - Twin Day (dress like your friend, or friends) Tuesday - Black Out & White Out Day (8th grade dress all in black, and 7th grade dress all in white) Wednesday - Fancy/Royalty Day (come all dressed up - princess, queen, formal, anything fancy) Remember this is a 1/2 day for students. Thursday - Blast from the Past Day (come dressed as a 50's teeny bopper, a 70's hippy, or come with 80's big hair) Friday - Blue and White Day (wear your blue and white Oakridge Spirit wear) Students that show the most spirit for the whole week will be entered in to a drawing for a chance to win a breakfast that will be celebrated the following week during silent reading time. Ms. Dutton will be back this afternoon for practice. Please meet in the high school just like normal. The girls basketball teams play Mason County Central today here at Oakridge. The seventh grade game begins at 4:00pm with the eighth grade game to follow. Student admission is only $2.00 so try and attend this event and support the girls if you can. Start thinking about what you are going to wear! Wednesday, September 21, 2016 Congratulations to the Cross Country athletes for successfully completing their first 2 mile competition of the year! Competing against a huge field of athletes, 198 total runners, all our athletes completed the course and were competitive the entire race. For the boys: Cameron Dial was 35th with a time of 14:54. Aiden Hascher was 37th with a time of 15:11. Spencer Anderson finished in 66th place with a time of 16:52. Ben Ferrier was 78th with a time of 18:06. Conner Forward placed 81st with a time of 18:25, and Conner Anderson was 92nd with a time of 22:44. For the girls: Hayden Ruel was our only female racing, but she finished in 12th place out of 104 girls with a time of 14:55. Great job to everyone!! Practice today at 3:15. The seventh grade Lady Eagles took a tough loss against the Montague Wildcats last night at Montague. Leading scorers for the seventh grade team were: Jasmine Pastor, Saidee Rapp, and Anyhia Bridges. Aerianna Bowen was the top scorer for the eighth grade team. Come support these girls this Thursday on our home court as they play Mason County Central at 4:00 pm sharp. The football team travels to Ravenna today to play the bulldogs. All players will be released at 2:40pm to board the bus. Good luck boys! The girls sent the Hart Pirates back to their ship with a loss with the score 21 to 11. Great defensive game by all the girls but Sadie Raap, Delaney Ruel, and Hannah Tennant led the Eagles with points on the board. Congratulations to Delaney Ruel and Ashlynn Smith for shutting down the main scorer on the Hart team and as she was not able to make one basket. Next week the girls are away at Montague. Last Thursday, the 8th grade girls basketball team beat North Muskegon 38-10. Intense defense led the Eagles to victory holding North Muskegon scoreless in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles were led by Leah Lowry and Emma Fri who both had ten points. Kyla Stewart added six points; congratulations girls. Yesterday was another big win for the 7th grade Lady Eagles! They sent the North Muskegon Norsemen sailing home winning 22-12. Saidee Raap lead the Eagles with 12 stellar points. Ana Bowen contributed 6 points and Delaney Ruel and Gabby Tennant sealed the win with a couple of baskets each! There was great team work all around girls. Keep up the great work and keep working hard Lady Eagles! There will be a Back to School Assembly this morning. Listen overhead as you will be released at 8:35am. You will walk to the auditorium with your first hour teacher. Tickets for the varsity football game tonight against North Muskegon are on sale in the middle school office. You can order your tickets before or after school or between classes but you cannot be late for class. You will pick up your ticket at the end of fifth hour. Student admission is $3.00.
