Premier Intermediate Hurling League On Saturday evening last our premier Intermediate Hurlers travelled to Dungourney for a league game. Valleys got off the mark early scoring 1.03 in the first five minutes without reply. The goal coming from Chris O Leary, two frees from Richie Butler and a point from play from Kevin Canty. Dungourney then hit a purple patch and by the 17th minute it was all square at 1.07 each with further Valleys points from Eoin O Reilly, John Cottrell, Rory O Sullivan and another free from Richie Butler. Further points were exchanged to leave the score level 1.11 apiece at the break, two points each from Chris O Leary & Kevin Canty. The second half began with four frees for Dungourney before substitute Aaron Lyons booted the ball to the net for the Rovers. Two more points from Chris O Leary and one from Cormac Desmond had the scores level again on the 50th minute. The game continued tit for tat until the final whistle, two final points from Kevin Canty, one from Eoin O Reilly and a free from Richie Butler completed the Rovers tally. The final score ending up a draw, Dungourney 2.18 to Valley Rovers 1.21. U9 Hurling League Hot on the heels of their trip to Roscrea two days previously, the U9 hurlers welcomed St Finbarr's to Brinny on a balmy evening on May 29th. Three teams of 8 lined out for a round-robin format. The games ebbed and flowed and the good news is that some new stars were shining brightly. Finán O'Brien led bewildered defenders on a merry dance and Patrick Barry demonstrated some terrific progress. The teams were missing the defensive strengths of Shane Barrett and Felix Gunn who were injured but the squad was fortunately able to call on Andrew Grainger, Colm Dullea and Gearóid O'Keefe from the U8 squad to deputise. Gearóid, in particular, demonstrated great skill in scoring off both sides whilst under pressure from attentive defenders. Overall, the Barrs came out on top but it's clear that these two teams will have close encounters in future years. Page 2 of 8

Unfortunately the result didn t go the Rovers way with the final scoreline of Valley Rovers 2-5 to Aghada 3-14. Well done to the girls to get this far & best of luck to Aghada in the final. In order to comply with the new GDPR guidelines Valley Rovers are changing how they text their supporters. Valley Rovers will no longer be using the WhatsApp Group Valley Rovers Text. In future messages will be sent from the club phone still via WhatsApp but appear on your phone as an individual message, rather than as part of a group message. Some of the advantages of communicating this way are: The receiver cannot see who else is receiving the message As this is not a group other members will not be able to see your phone number and as a result your personal data will be kept private If you wish to reply or send a message in error, your message will only be seen by the operator of the club phone What do I need to DO? If you have received WhatsApp messages from the club phone since Friday 25 th May and are happy to continue receiving them, you do not need to do anything. If you wish to receive messages from Valley Rovers please save the number (0 5) 703 1 on your phone, and send a WhatsApp message asking to be added to the list. If you are receiving messages and do not wish to receive them in future also send a Whatsapp message to 0857038198 asking to be removed from the list. Thank you for your understanding and we hope this new initiative will be beneficial to all our supporters. Page 6 of 8
