THE GREAT NOR EASTER North-East Western Shooters, LLC Late Spring 2014 Volume 1, Issue 2 The GNE Sweeps stakes Do you have what it takes to win the Sweeps stakes at the Great Nor easter? We are all familiar with Progressive sweeps (1-2-2-3-3-3-4-4-4-4), and Nevada sweeps (1-2-3-4-3-2-1-2-3-4). But do you know the Badger sweep (1-2-3-4-1-2-3-1-2-1)? How about the Jackrabbit sweep (1-3-5-7- 9-10-8-6-4-2)? Perhaps the Hermit Joe sweep is more your style (1-2-1-3-1-4-1-5-1-6). And a personal favorite (I like the name), the John Wayne sweep (1-2-3-3-2-1-1-2-3-3). Or the Delta Glen sweep is more fun for you (1-2-2-3-2-2-1-2-2-3). And the Clint Eastwood fans would favor the Josey Wales sweep (1-2-3-4-5-5-4-3-2-1). Or one made famous by our Match Director, the Rummy Sweep (1-2-3-4-5-6-3-4-1-2). I m told this is very gunfighter friendly and you will have to see the targets to understand. Now I m not saying that you re going to see these at the Great Nor easter, but I won t say you won t...you ll have to come and see! But it never hurts to practice them... Look for our next newsletter! We will share a few of our exciting plans for the upcoming 2014 event. July 24-27, 2014 SEE YOU THEN! Thanks to the Verdant Mountain Vigilantes for the use of the name The Great Nor easter. Texas Roadhouse will be catering for us again this year. After spending a long day on the range, why bother cooking; treat yourself to a wonderful dinner out with great friends Did I mention there won t be any dishes to do afterwards? When signing up for the Saturday Banquet, be sure to indicate your choice of steak or chicken. Chelsea Hay Bale before final assembly (from Page 1) After the top is removed they collapse for easier storage. This makes them very desirable for clubs that don t have lots of space to keep all those props! Once we had everything set up they went together fairly quickly. We ran out of daylight (actually more like out of energy!), but a couple more are planned for completion before July.
THE GREAT NOR EASTER Nor'easter A counterclockwise turning cyclone (a storm system circulating around a center) similar to a hurricane. Nor'easters occur in the eastern United States any time between October and April, when moisture and cold air are plentiful. Once the system is formed, the earth s rotation causes the air to circle around the center (similar to when you drain the water out of your bathtub). This creates the northeast wind, hence it's name nor'easter. They typically form near the Bahamas or north of Cuba, along the Appalachians or off Cape Hatteras. They are known for dumping heavy amounts of rain and snow, producing hurricane force winds, and creating high surfs that cause severe beach erosion and coastal flooding. What nor'easters don't achieve in wind speed as compared to hurricanes, they achieve in duration (up to a week) and size (up to 1000 miles or more in diameter). Are you concerned about traveling with firearms? Shipping them to and from the match may be arranged. Contact Capt. Morgan Rum for more information: 603-772-5041. The Great Nor easter is looking for WADDIES to help out with this year s event. WADDIES you get to shoot-through on Wednesday, then work Thursday through Sunday; one, two, three or maybe all three days depending on your schedule. And the best part a reduced rate to shoot the match! Indicate you want to VOLUNTEER on your registration form. Dry Camping available at the range see the Camping form on the Registration page of the website. July 23-26, 2015 marks the GNE 10th Anniversary. SAVE THE DATE!
