The youth and staff braved the heat to have a blast at camp! The youth were able to learn and try; canoeing, leather shop, crafts, swimming, bee education, campfire cooking, skits, games, pollination education, nature, challenges, dancing, character education, and so much more! Youth made friends that would last a life time as well as confidence to carry them through life. I really enjoyed watching youth come that were really nervous and by the end of camp had a blast and didn t want to go home! We all learned how 4-H Camp Crowder Inside and Out is the best week ever! Want to know more about camp? Talk to Cowen O Riley or the Herron s about their time at camp! State Shoot Registration for the State Shoot is scheduled to open on July 5 and will close on August 1. CLUB NEWS 4-H ers Green 365 days of the year! Lucky Clover Lucky Clovers joined forces to tackle the jungle outside of the Velma Houts building on May 18th. They pulled lots of weeds, planted new flowers, and put down new mulch. This area is seen by many when they pull into Rock Port as well as lot s of people who come to the Atchison County Fair. The University of Missouri Extension office of Atchison County thanks you for all your hard work! It looks great out there! Wolverines To the left you see Goldie Barnes demonstrating on Grace Oswald s bottle calf the proper way to comb the hair of the calf. Before this they were part of their clubs business meeting that everyone told what they would be taking to Achievement Day. Sam O Riley is asking that all club members please turn their project tags in ahead of time to ensure a smooth night and enough volunteers to conference judge. On another occasion the cake decorating project group in Wolverine s gathered to make cakes from scratch and learn how to ice them as well. Thanks to Tiff Gaines for helping us learn new tips for decorating cakes! Farmer City Farmer City has been busy at the rodeo this year as well as their usual June meeting! They were in the rodeo parade and cleaned up after the event as well. The Monday before the rodeo they got together for their business meeting and enjoyed a fun game. Josie King and her grandma Ponya went out and enjoyed the weather while beautifying Westboro. They planted flowers on Main Street for all to see and enjoy! This is the perfect time of year for you to get out and help others. You could make a bird house for an elderly neighbor, mow a yard for someone, plant flowers, pull weeds, take someone s dog for a walk, etc.. There are so many things that we can do to help others and get some exercise as well. I challenge you to go out and help someone and send me pictures of you good deed to give others ideas of how they can help others as well. The University of Missouri-Columbia complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended. If you have a disability and need accommodations in connection with Atchison County 4-H, please notify us at 201 E US HWY 136/660-744-6231 as soon as possible so that necessary arrangements can be made.

The youth and even the adults had quite a time learning different techniques to use for their local Achievement Day during the Atchison County Fair as well as the State Fair if their item was sent on. If you or someone you know are interested in lending your skills to teach youth in different areas please contact Sam O Riley. Tate Johnson went to the State Wide Clown Workshop in Jeff City on May 14th and had a great time!
