Event Fast Facts (Continued) Race Divisions and Wave Starts (Subject to Change) The Walt Disney World Kids Triathlon will utilize a wave start. Waves are determined by the number of athletes in each age division. Wave starts are subject to change from the list below: 7:30am 7 & 8 Age Group 7:40am 9 & 10 Age Group 7:50am 11 & 12 Age Group 8:00am 13 & 14 Age Group Athlete Check-In Athletes can check in at the Contemporary Resort on Friday, September 22 (12noon to 6:00pm). 1. All athletes will be required to attend a pre-race meeting before picking up their packet. 2. Athletes must confirm their athlete number on athlete lists. 3. Show USAT card or pay insurance and sign waivers. 4. Pick up Registration Packet, which will contain race numbers, safety pins, timing chip, swim cap, etc. It is mandatory that athletes wear the athlete accreditation wristband AT ALL TIMES, as this will allow them access into all race areas (including Transition Areas). Results Finisher Medals will be presented at the finish line. Results for the Walt Disney World Triathlon will be posted at www.disneyworldsports.com, following the conclusion of the race. Transportation and Parking PLEASE NOTE: Bicycles are NOT ALLOWED on Walt Disney World Resort Buses, Watercraft, and Monorails. Event Expo Athlete and Spectator Parking: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22: All athletes and spectators attending the Expo on Friday will have access to park at the Contemporary Resort. If you are staying on Walt Disney World Property, you can utilize Walt Disney World Transportation to the Contemporary Resort. 2006 Walt Disney World Triathlon 3
Event Fast Facts (Continued) Transportation and Parking (Continued) SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23: All athletes and spectators attending the Kids Triathlon will be REQUIRED to park in the Magic Kingdom main parking lot in either the Grumpy or Dopey parking area. From there, all athletes and spectators will catch a shuttle that will take them to the Transition/Start area located at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. Saturday is also the MANDATORY bike check in for all athletes. There will be NO bike check in on Friday. All athletes are required to park at the Magic Kingdom main parking lot. From there, a shuttle will be available to transport athletes to the transition area located at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. There is NO PARKING at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. Therefore, all athletes must park at the Magic Kingdom and utilize the shuttle service to get their bikes to the transition area. Athletes MUST load their bikes onto the shuttles to get them to the transition area. For all athletes staying at the Wilderness Lodge or Campgrounds, you will be able to walk/ride your bike to the transition area. Race Day -- Athlete and Spectator Parking: On Saturday, September 23, all Athletes and Spectators will park in the designated parking lot at the Magic Kingdom. There will be no race day parking available at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds and no early WDW Transportation services available to the guests (including Monorail, Buses and/or Ferries) other than the Event Shuttles/Buses. Once parked at the Magic Kingdom Parking lot, you will catch a shuttle that will transport you to the transition/start area located inside the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. If you are staying at the Contemporary Resort, Wilderness Lodge, All-Star Resort, or Port Orleans-Riverside, a shuttle will be provided outside your Resort to the transition/start area. Resort Packages Medical Anthony Travel is the official travel partner of the Walt Disney World Triathlon. For more information about Anthony Travel, visit www.anthonytravel.com or 1-800-736-6377. The main medical tent will be located at the finish line located near the Transition Area at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. Spectators needing to locate an athlete during or after the race should inquire at the Communication Tent located behind the main medical tent. This location will also serve as Lost and Found. Volunteers / Sports Enthusiasts Volunteers are needed in all areas. Course and Race Information Start Time 7:30am Swim starts will be conducted in waves of 10 minute increments. Divisions and Age Groups have identified waves. Course Cut-Off Times General Course Description There is a One (1) Hour Time Limit to Finish the race. The Walt Disney World Kids Triathlon will start at Disney s Fort Wilderness Campgrounds Resort from Clementine Beach. The bike course will start from the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds and travel on existing pathways leading to the Wilderness Lodge before returning to the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. The run will start from the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds and also use the existing pathways leading to the Wilderness Lodge before returning to the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds to finish just behind Pioneer Hall. The event consists of a 100yd Swim, 3 Mile Bike, and ½ Mile Run. (7-10). 200 yd Swim, 6 Mile Bike, and a 1 Mile Run. (11-14) Aid Stations Swim Aid Station: Located on the exit of the swim shoot prior to the Transition area. PowerAde and Water will be available. Bike Aid Stations: No aid stations will be provided along the bike course. Athletes are required to supply their own refreshments. Run Aid Stations: One (1) aid station will be provided. PowerAde and Water will be available. Finish Line: At the finish line and reunion areas, we will be distributing bottled PowerAde and Water. Body Marking Wetsuits Athletes are advised not to grease before body marking. Body marking will begin at 5:30am. Body marking will take place at the bus loading area at Magic Kingdom and also at the Transition Area. If an athlete is missed, we will have additional assistance near the swim start. Wetsuits are permissible when the water temperature is 78 degrees or colder. Water temperatures for Bay Lake are not expected to be below this temperature.
