The matchup between the Sooners and the Buckeyes will start at 4:00 p.m. at St. John Arena. Oklahoma s (9-1) undefeated streak came to an end in a loss against No. 2 Stanford in a triangular with No. 9 Nebraska at the Devaney Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska, March 7. With its 1-1 mark at the event, OU is now 6-1 against top 10 opponents on the year. Oklahoma claimed at least a share of three team event titles on the day with wins on floor (62.850), pommel horse (56.800) and a share of the parallel bars title with Stanford (59.500). Last season, OU posted a 357.450 team score en route to a victory over Ohio State claiming four team event titles on the night, including wins on floor (61.800), vault (63.150), parallel bars (58.850) and high bar (58.100). Opponent Preview Last week, Ohio State (7-5, 3-3 Big Ten) downed California, 351.800-346.00, in St. John Arena as six different Buckeyes recorded first-place finishes on five of the six events. On Feb. 28, Ohio State earned a huge Big Ten Conference win, defeating Penn State, 353.600-347.100, after earning event wins on pommel horse, rings, parallel bars and high bar. Up Next The Sooners will face another rival from the Big Ten conference on the road with a trip to the Penn State on March 20. Since 2000, the Sooners and Nittany Lions and have combined to win the last eight NCAA titles. The Sooners placed second despite posting their highest score of the season (360.300). Stanford won the meet with a 361.650, while the Cornhuskers scored a 347.500. OKLAHOMA VS. NEBRASKA, STANFORD INDIVIDUAL TITLES All-Around: Steven Legendre Floor Exercise: Steven Legendre Pommel Horse: Alex Naddour HORTON AND BROOKS AT AMERICAN CUP One month after winning the Winter Cup National title in the all-around, Chris Brooks finished third at the 2010 Tyson American Cup on Saturday in Worcester, Mass. Brooks, a four-year letterwinner and current volunteer assistant at Oklahoma, finished behind another former Sooner, Jonathon Horton. A four-year letterwinner and 2008 Olympic silver medalist, Horton posted a 90.150 while Brooks tallied a 89.900. Both Horton and Brooks finished ahead of reigning Tyson American Cup champion and 2008 Olympic horizontal bar bronze-medalist Fabian Hambuechen of Germany, who finished in fourth place. Maxim Devyatovsky won the competition with a 90.600. WHAT A PAIR This week, freshman Jacob Dalton (88.833) and junior Steven Legendre (88.483) were ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the national all-around rankings. Dalton and Legendre have both been in the top five of the all-around standings seven of the last eight weeks the of national rankings. In week five, Dalton overtook the number one position in the all-around standings and has yet to leave the top spot this season. LEGENDRE DOES IT AGAIN Leading the Sooners the past two meets was junior Steven Legendre, claiming back-to-back all-around titles. Both all-around titles of the season have been scores of 89.500 (Minnesota) and 88.850 (Nebraska, Stanford). Legendre has claimed eight all-around titles in his career, including the 2009 NCAA National All-Around Title. POMMEL HORSE KING Freshman Alex Naddour started his career at Oklahoma braking the pommel horse event record. Since that week Naddour has gone on to win four of the six event titles on the apparatus with an average score of 15.200. FIVE ON NATIONAL TEAM Four-year letterwinner Chris Brooks won the 2010 Winter Cup all-around title and regained his position on the U.S. Senior National Team on Feb. 6. Overall, one third of the national team selections were from the University of Oklahoma men s program as all five representatives sent to the event were selected following strong performances. Freshman Alex Naddour was the latest Sooner to be named to the team, while freshman Jacob Dalton and junior Steven Legendre and Olympian Jonathan Horton retained their positions on the team. The five Sooners, along with the other 10 members will comprise the U.S. team until the Visa Championships in August. No other NCAA Division I men s gymnastics program has more members on Senior National Team than Oklahoma and this is most National Team members that the Sooners have ever had, beating the previous total in 1994 (4).

The MPSF Conference has consistently been the top-ranked conference in the NCAA the past 10 years. The past two NCAA National Champions (Oklahoma and Stanford) are currently dominating the polls being ranked in the top three in five of the six events. Both teams are in the top three in four of the six events (floor, rings, vault, parallel bars). The Sooners have a gymnast ranked in the top five in four of the six events and two or more gymnasts ranked in the top 15 on every event. JUST GOING UP Since the beginning the season with a score of 374.400 at the Rocky Mountain Open, the Sooners have consistency stepped up their score each week. FIRST TIME Freshman Jacob Dalton posted a 16.150 in his event title on vault last weekend, unveiling a Kasamatsu double full. Dalton is the only gymnasts in the United State that attempts the 17.0 start-value vault and it was the first time that the vault had been attempted in NCAA competition. The Reno, Nev., native is currently the top rated gymnast on vault with an average score of 16.167 and is also ranked No. 1 in the all-around. NOTICING NATIONALLY Oklahoma gymnast are being honored nationally for their efforts as freshman Jacob Dalton was named the College Gymnastics Association and MPSF Gymnast of the Week (Jan. 17 and 24), while redshirt junior Ian Jackson was named MPSF Gymnastics of the Week (Feb. 18). The third-ranked Sooners scored a 347.400 in Colorado Springs, Colo., to win the collegiate portion of the competition, while Jacob Dalton claimed his first all-around title as a Sooner with a score of 87.500. The Sooner also claimed four team event finals on floor (60.000), pommel horse (56.950), vault (63.950) and parallel bars (57.500). The Sooners claimed five individual event titles on the night with the help of Dalton winning vault (16.250), parallel bars (14.900) and high bar (14.800) and Steven Legendre winning floor (15.950). OKLAHOMA AT IOWA JAN. 23, 2010 OU, (W): 349.500-340.950 The fourth-ranked Oklahoma men s gymnastics team claimed its second straight victory of the 2010 season by winning all six events over No. 8 Iowa at the Main Field House in Iowa City, Iowa. The Sooners scored a 349.500 to beat the Hawkeyes (340.950) in their first meeting of the regular season. The Sooners swept each of the team event on floor (59.550), pommel horse (55.300), rings (58.150), vault (60.950), parallel bars (58.100) and high bar (57.450). Oklahoma was also able to sweep the team portion with the help of freshman Jacob Dalton winning his second straight all-around with a score of 89.600. Dalton won his first allaround title last week at the Rocky Mountain Open. The meet was highlighted by Dalton winning individual titles on floor (15.750), vault (16.000), rings (15.000) and parallel bars (15.050). Alex Naddour took his second straight pommel horse title of the season with a score of 15.000. Steven Legendre rounded out the afternoon by claiming the high bar title with a score of 14.700. OKLAHOMA VS. TEXAS JAN. 30, 2010 CANCELLED Due to winter storm conditions affecting the Oklahoma area, the men s gymnastics meet on Saturday, Jan. 30 between No. 4 OU and the Texas club team has been cancelled. The Sooners and Longhorns were scheduled to compete tomorrow night at 7 p.m. (CST) inside the Howard McCasland Field House. Cleveland Elementary Night will be rescheduled to a later date. OKLAHOMA VS. NEBRASKA FEB. 13, 2010 OU, (W): 356.500-335.450 OU (6-0 overall, 3-0 MPSF) posted its highest team total of the season (356.500) en route to its second victory over the Huskers (335.450) in 2010. The meet was highlighted by freshman Alex Naddour breaking the school record on pommel horse with a 15.400, a mark he previously set earlier in the year (15.200), and junior Bobby Shortle setting a career high on vault with a 16.200. With its 1-1 mark at the event, OU is now 6-1 against top-10 opponents on the year. The Sooners placed second despite posting their highest score of the season (360.300). Stanford won the meet with a 361.650, while the Cornhuskers scored a 347.500. Leading the Sooners was junior Steven Legendre, claiming his second all-around title of the season with a score of 88.850. The U. S. National Team member also took home an individual event title on floor (16.100). Oklahoma claimed at least a share of three team event titles on the day with wins on floor (62.850), pommel horse (56.800) and a share of the parallel bars title with Stanford (59.500). Alex Naddour joined Legendre on the podium with his fourth event title of the season on pommel (14.900). Highlighting the meet for OU was a career high from senior Corey English on parallel bars (15.250) in his second place finish on the apparatus. Naddour and freshman Jacob Dalton posted scores of 88.350 and 88.250, respectively, to finish two and three in the allaround competition.
