ArcelorMittal Dofasco Ladies Volleyball League Constitution 2015-2016 Season 1. The name of the organization is the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Ladies Volleyball League, hereinafter referred to as the League. 2. Membership A. All players in the league must: 1) Be ArcelorMittal Dofasco employees, spouses/common-law spouses of ArcelorMittal Dofasco employees, retirees, dependents over the age of 18, or associates sponsored by an ArcelorMittal Dofasco member; 2) Have completed an official application; and 3) Be registered on the employee s insurance plan if not an associate. B. If an employee terminates his/her employment at ArcelorMittal Dofasco for any reason during the playing year, the spouse/employee may complete the season if: 1) She has played in 50% of the League schedule, 2) She completes a waiver form, and 3) The Recreation office approves the waiver. C. The number of associate players is limited up to 50% of the ArcelorMittal Dofasco membership. The F.H. Sherman Recreation & Learning Centre reserves the right to alter this percentage. 3. Executive A. The League executive will consist of a: President, Vice-President, Statistician, Treasurer and Past President. B. The President and Treasurer must be an employee/spouse of an employee of ArcelorMittal Dofasco. C. Terms of office shall be for a two-year term. Uncompleted terms will be filled by executive appointment, if deemed necessary. D. The President may serve only two consecutive terms to a maximum of four years.

Page 2 E. The President will, after Championship night, call a general meeting (within a one month period) to review the past season and to hold elections of officers, if necessary. F. Each executive member is entitled to an honorarium of up to $75.00 each as per ArcelorMittal Dofasco Recreation Club policy. 4. Elections Elections will occur every at the AGM and as deemed necessary. 5. Vacancies on the Board Where a vacancy on the Board remains after an election, the Executive may elect any eligible league member in good standing to fill a vacancy for the balance of the term of office. The league member will serve on the Executive as if elected by the league members. 6. Meetings Executive meetings will be held as required during the regular season. The executive will deal with protests as they occur. 7. Duties of Executive A. President: - Must be an ArcelorMittal Dofasco Employee 2) Have the responsibility of conducting all League meetings and functions according to accepted rules of order and for the general good of the League. 3) Hold the responsibility for ensuring other executive members perform their duties satisfactorily, and delegate duties as necessary to the other executive members. 4) Hold the primary responsibility for the conduct of the members and the executive at all League meetings and functions. 5) Be the direct contact and group liaison between the Recreation office and the League. 6) Make changes to the Constitution.

Page 3 7) Will assume signing authority on the League account when required. Cheques require two (2) signatures of three (3) executive members with signing authority. 8) Give notice of all meetings to the members of the executive body. 9) Facilitate Championship Day. B. Vice-President: 2) Assist the President in League functions: organize referees, keeping track of attendance and payments on behalf of Treasurer, organizing substitutions of referees during absences. 3) Assume responsibilities for the President when she is not available. 4) Organize Championship Networking Evening Event and Year End Banquet. C. Statistician: 2) Retrieve score sheets from Referees weekly. 3) Maintain complete and accurate stats from week to week. 4) Post stats, standings and schedule weekly, including playoffs. 5) Configure playoff schedule at year end. 6) Keep minutes of all executive and general meetings and document any participant concerns arising from the League. 7) Give notice of all meetings to the members and executive body as applicable. 8) Ensure website is updated at all times and notices are issued for reminder of Annual General Meeting. D. Treasurer Must be an ArcelorMittal Dofasco employee or spouse

Page 4 2) Account for League funds in accordance with the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Recreation Club policy on financial stability. 3) Submit financial reports as required. 4) Assume responsibility for registration and pre-registration. 5) Provide payment to referees on a weekly or monthly basis. E. Past President: 2) Help with the executive if there are any discrepancies in decision making or assistance is needed. 3) Assist all members of the executive League functions when requested. 4) Be responsible for ordering the League shirts and any other supplies required to operate the League (balls, whistles, etc). 5) Be responsible for any constitutional and/or by-law amendments. F. All Executive Members: 1) To foster, support, promote and organize the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Ladies Volleyball League in accordance with values, standards and rules prescribed corporately and herein. 2) Arrive early to assist in setting up courts for games and stay after the games to help put away balls etc., ensuring the locker is secured each night. 3) Attend any meetings as required by the Ladies Volleyball executive. 8. The League: A. All members will pay a set registration fee when they submit their application. B. All applicants will be randomly designated to a team, regardless of player preferences. If there is an imbalance in the size of team or skill, the Executive have the right to move players after the season commences.

Page 5 C. Each team may carry up to 10 players. D. All members are subject to disbarment from any/all League activities for conduct unbecoming a member or if in violation of the F. H. Sherman Recreation & Learning Centre Zero Tolerance Policy. The circumstances surrounding the above will be investigated by the executive and appropriate action taken to include a written report with a copy to the F. H. Sherman Recreation & Learning Centre. Any member who is disbarred is not entitled to a refund of their membership fee. E. Children must be supervised at all times during League play; as well they are to be seated when games are in progress. No Running Around. F. If a player chooses to withdraw from the League a $20 administration fee will be charged. A partial refund will be issued up and until the end of December, and will be based on number of games played. After this date no refunds will be provided. 9. The Game A. Each team will play 2 matches per night. Match 1 begins at 6:00 p.m., ends no later than 7:00 p.m. Match 2 begins at 7:00 p.m., ends no later than 8:00 p.m. Each Match consists of 3 games (as time permits) B. A maximum of five (5) serves per player, then the team must rotate. C. At the beginning of the game, the receiving team must rotate before serving. 10. The Teams: A. A maximum of 6 players per team are allowed on the court at once. B. Extra players will rotate onto the court during each game. C. Players must remain in the same order during a game. Order may be changed in later games. D. The Team Captains will be voted in at the beginning of the Volleyball season and be the spokesperson for their team and attend executive meetings as required.

Page 6 E. Members of the Ladies Volleyball Executive cannot be captain of a team. 11. Defaulting Games: A. For an official game, each team must have at least 3 players on the court. B. The team with less than 3 players defaults the game (other team wins and is awarded 2 points). For statistical purposes, the score will be determined as 25 0. C. If both teams have less than 3 players, both teams default (no points awarded for either team). D. If the 3 rd player arrives late, remaining games may be played for full points. E. The following grace periods will be allowed: 6:00 p.m. Match 7:00 p.m. Match First Game 6:10 p.m. start First Game 7:10 p.m. start Second Game Second Game 6:20 p.m. start 7:20 p.m. start Third Game Third Game 6:30 p.m. start 7:30 p.m. start If the 3 rd player arrives less than 10 minutes past the hour, no games are defaulted. If the 3 rd player arrives more than 10 minutes past the hour, the team defaults the 1 st game 1 st game (2 nd & 3 rd games are played for points) If the 3 rd player arrives more than 20 minutes past the hour, the team defaults the first 2 games (the 3 rd game is played for points) If the 3 rd player arrives more than 30 minutes past the hour, the team defaults all 3 games (entire match) 12. Scoring A. Scoring system is rally point.

Page 7 B. The first team to reach 25 points wins the game (must win by 2 points, maximum = 27 points per game). C. For standings: each game won = 2 points, each game tied = 1 point per team, each game lost = 0 points. D. If a 3 rd game is not started within the hour, no points will be given to either team for that game. E. If the 1 st match is not completed by 7:00 p.m., play will be stopped and the current score will be official. F. If the 2 nd match is not completed by 8:00 p.m., play will be stopped and the current score will be official. G. Final standings will be based on the following order: games won, points for then points against. 13. The Rules A. Can step over the service line with one foot only on all courts. B. Choice of court or serve is determined by the flip of a coin. Coin toss done on first game only. Winner of the toss gets choice of side or serve. C. Player may go outside the court boundaries in order to bring the ball back into play. The ball cannot pass outside the antenna when it is returned to the opponent s side of the court. D. Touching the net is not allowed. E. Players must not go into their opponents space below the net. F. Touching the opponent s court (under the net) with a foot or hand is allowed, provided part of their foot or hand remains in contact with the center line or is above the center line. G. The ball will be passed to the server under the net not over the net. H. Each team is allowed only three successive hits. I. Any part of the body from the knee up is considered a legal hit and as according to OVA rules.

Page 8 J. Team captains are the only players who are allowed to address the referee with any concerns. K. If there is a dispute in calling the ball in or out, the referee will rule. L. The basketball net is considered out of bounds, both during a serve and ball in play. M. Blocking the serve is not allowed. N. Spiking the serve is not allowed. O. Kicking the ball with the foot is not allowed. P. Blocking an attack from the opponent does not count as one of the 3 allowed hits. Q. After an unsuccessful block, 3 team hits are still allowed. R. The ball cannot hit the antenna. S. All other guidelines will be as per OVA rules. 14. Amendments to the Constitution Any amendments, alterations or additions to this Constitution will be voted on by the League executive.
