White Horse Park Times MAY 2018 HAPPY MOTHERS DAY HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY PRICELESS ENJOY THE SUN FILLED DAYS OF MAY Park Manager s Report I think spring might have finally sprung! As I m writing this, the sun is shining, and the heat is off I m in short sleeves. However, I m really looking forward to next week when I ll be in Cancun! I ll be back from vacation on May 9 th. The roll-off dumpster will be here the first week of May, and I will try to keep it until the middle of June. PLEASE don t put household trash in the roll-off. Likewise, please do not put large items in the regular trash cans. Mediacom has once again increased our cable TV costs. If you haven t gotten a letter yet, it is in the mail. The increase is $28.00 for this year, and is payable by June 15 th. So far, no one has stepped up to do the Clubhouse events. Memorial Day is coming up fast, and it would be a shame to not have a party. Last, but certainly not least, don t forget to put in your resume for a position on the Board of Directors. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact the office. Ted Gajewski Thank you to all who attended the April Board Meeting. It was good to see some new faces. We had some important items on the agenda and some news regarding the repairs at the front gate. We now have the engineer s plans and the applications for the permits we will need to start the work are being submitted. We do not have a timeline as to when the county will finish processing the applications but hope they will be forthcoming. We were informed that the cable company will raise our yearly rate for cable service by $28. We are asking that owners submit the additional amount for the cable by June 15 th. Continued 1 (Pres.continued) We were also informed by a member that the County will be considering a rate hike for water this year. The amount of the increase is yet to be determined. The actual homeowner dues in the Park will not change but remain at $90. I guess in reality $228 a year for cable is still not a bad rate for the service but it does make one wonder when and if it will stop going up. As far as the water increase, the County told me that the water system must be self- supporting by users. The County does not contribute money to support the water system and since costs are rising all the time so is our rate. I guess we can be grateful that we are not charged per gallon but rather by a flat rate per household. These increases are never a pleasant thing to have to tell our owners. The Board will be reviewing the fines in the Park for presentation at the Annual Meeting in June. We are hoping by increasing some of the fines we will get the attention of owners and renters who are currently frequent violators of some of the rules and regulations of the Park. There are two more items to mention. There are three openings that will be up for election this year. There are two 3 year terms and one 1year term. Please submit your resume by May 15th at the latest, earlier if you can. As of this date, we have not received any resumes. The other item is that so far we have not had anyone to come forward to host the Memorial Day Picnic. We hope that someone will step up otherwise we will not have an event that weekend. If you are willing, please contact the office. There are members who will be willing to help you with anything you need. WHP does sincerely thank Betty and Walter Michalak who again this year have signed up to chair the Fourth Of July Picnic. If you would like to help please let them know. Now if someone would volunteer for the Memorial Day Picnic we d be on our way to our usual fun at the clubhouse. The Park is preparing for another busy season and hope that many of you will be able to enjoy the amenities that the Park offers. Pat Heath
