Newport Gnarnia September 9, 2018 Course Description We re excited to host our first race in the beautiful forest of Newport! Home to our Newport Composite team, this place is truly a special piece of property that will make for some fun riding. The course features swooping single track throughout, with some short climbs and twisty descents. We want to extend a huge thanks to the Newport Trail Stewards for helping us shape this place up so we can host our event here, and we re excited to share it with the rest of Oregon. SATURDAY - 2-5pm SUNDAY - 7:30-8:30am Pre-Riding Please note that we close the course exactly at 8:30am on Sunday, so if you plan to pre-ride on your race day, please give yourselves plenty of time. Team Tents Teams are welcome to set up their team tents any time after 2pm on Saturday and any time after 7am on Sunday. Note: We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Coaches Meeting at 7:45am Coaches, this is where you ll get info about the race day, such as risk management, race conditions, and anything else of importance to mention. Sometimes we have to make changes due to weather or other circumstances, so it s important you re at the meeting to keep your team and riders informed! Registration ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, AT 11PM! Race Plates Number plates can be picked up at the registration/merch tent on Saturday (2-5:00pm) or Sunday (7-11:30am). Each athlete is assigned a number plate for the season. You will be using the same race plate (your race number) for your bike for the whole season. If you lose it, you can get another one for $10 at the merchandise booth. Coaches, parents, and studentathletes can pick up race plates from 2-5pm on Saturday and 7-11am on Sunday. Directions to Newport Gnarnia Address: 400 SE College Way, Newport OR 97366 This event will be staged from the Oregon Coast Community College property. From HWY 101, take the exit on the east side to 40 th street. You ll see an old boat propped up on land at this turn. This road will eventually become SE Harburton street and will dead end into our event space. Parking Our Oregon League staff will help you park in the designated parking areas. Handicapped parking will be available. Please allow ample time to get into the venue. Camping Camp and RV sites are available nearby at the South Beach State Park and Beverly Beach State Park. Violation of this will result in team penalty and/or expulsion from team pit and infield area. No gasoline generators and no open fires on property, please. Newport Composite Welcome Party! September 8th from 5:30-7pm The Newport Composite team will be hosting a welcome party for all Oregon League riders, parents, and coaches on Saturday night! Come by to meet other teams, play lawn games, enjoy a drink from the indoor tap house, and eat some tacos. Note that those tasty tacos will be available for the first 80 folk that show up, and there will be meat and vegetarian options.
