ICWL Meeting Minutes Monday, March 13, 2017 1. Meeting Start 7:03 2. Treasurer s Update January balance was $18707.86. The league took in $836.70 in sponsorships, Team pay of $86.50, ICWL tournament entry fees $10,426.80 t-shirt sales $1688.00, Wildwood & Bruiser Dual fees $3536.00 & $0.65 interest. The league paid out $912.70 (food for seeding meeting), $3275.20 for singlets, $4550.45 for IT services for ICWL tournament, $2580.00 for Tiffin Mats, $1875.00 L Sports Rental, $4775.00 Referees, $720.00 EMT s & $360.00 to Methacton for Novice Tournament as checks were made out directly to the league instead of Methacton. The league currently has $13, 755.11 in the bank. The league is still waiting on the list of teams referenced in the league email on Monday, March 13 who have yet to pay their Team Pay for their wrestlers for the Championship tournament. The total outstanding amount for these teams is $5280. Payment is due NOW. 3. Open Board Positions President (Mike Nichter) Vice President (Brian Martz) Secretary (Michelle Reardon) Board at Large Member (Josh Heimbach) i. If you are interested in becoming a board member and interested in a specific position, please send an email to admin@intercountywrestlingleaque.org ii. We will nominate and vote on new board members at our 1 st meeting for net season. 4. Championship Tournament Feedback Location was great Should get larger mats for net year possibly 3030 mats with a 28ft circle. May increase the cap on number of wrestlers from 800 to 850-900 based on the additional space we have with the additional soccer turf field. Track wrestling system worked well. Those that worked the tables said it was easy to learn and navigate. It was suggested to go to 2-1-1 periods instead of 1-1.5-1.5. Concessions LSports has agreed to have more foods that is pre-made or ordered in advance like pizzas, hoagies etc. as well as setting up separate drink and snack locations to reduce the overall lines and speed up quick purchases.

League is considering changing the start times for net year so that there is little overlap between sessions. The league discussed whether or not to keep the tournament date the same as this year. Most people were in favor of keeping it. 5. Referees Jim Webb Over all the season went well with few issues ecept for January 7 th where there were 7 varsity matches and 14 ICWL meets. No one was short more than 1 referee for a meet that day. New uniforms Jim Webb indicated that he misunderstood what type of fight shorts the league was ordering. He thought they were along the line of a compression short. He let the uniform go but going forward they would like to see tighter fitting shorts along with the matching compression shirt to avoid injuries of fingers, hands and ankles. Jim gave Mike a website to secure trainers for the championship tournament this year. Mike will share with everyone via email the website address for all members future use. Jim epressed that using a trainer is much better than and EMT. EMT s do not understand the sport and will not handle blood issues or any issues outside of boarding someone for a back or neck injury. Jim offered to all of the league reps to have a referee come to their parent meeting at the beginning of the year to eplain what to epect on the mat from skin issues, blood & injury time. If your club is interested, contact Jim directly to schedule a referee. Jim said his chapter is thinking about offering a sportsmanship award to a club at the end of the season. It would include overall sportsmanship of the wrestlers, parents & coaches. The referees have epressed to Jim their concern with the lack of participants in individual tournaments throughout the season & post season. They have suggested that the ICWL consider having intermediate tournaments and/or round robin tournaments to get more kids who are not beginners or studs to get additional competition/mat time. The net scheduled test to get your referee license is in June 5th the schedule for test is attached and will be posted on the site. 6. Skill rating All league representatives were asked to come up with ideas for a new rating system or adopting a penalty for not following what is currently in place. It seems as though many clubs are rating their kids as 2 s instead of 3 s. The league put the rating system of 1-2-3 in place to make it easier for match ups to occur. Leaving the category of a 3 to consist of all of the 3, 4 & 5 s. Now most of the 3-4-& 5 s are being categorized as 2 s making for new problems with match ups. i. Net year the league/board is going to be more stringent with ad-hearing to the ratings that are agreed upon. 7. Scheduling League is considering having less teams host net year. They will ask those that can host 4-5 teams to host every week they have available. By having more teams at a meet it

may add some additional time to the length of the meet but will insure that all kids get a minimum of 2-3 matches. 8. New Teams The league may be approached to add more teams to the league net year due to the East Penn league splitting up for good. 9. FACEBOOK Page Setting up a Facebook for the league was suggested to post messages as well as dual meet and tournament opportunities. i. The page would be for members only wit out feedback/comment capability. ii. Need someone to be in charge of setting it up and running it. 10. Dual Meet Recap Our Wildwood team went 5 & 4. Net year we need to get kids to commit early. i. Angela suggested in giving gear to those that sign up and commit to a Dual team to get them to have buy in and want to participate and represent the ICAL instead of other club teams. 11.
