ROUND 1 DIVISION 2 HURLING LEAGUE Valley Rovers 1.13 to Tracton 0.10 Valleys into a gale force wind in the 1st half and while we were slow to settle we did well to go in level at half time 0-7pts each. Eoin O'Reilly got a great goal early in the 2nd half to put us in a strong position but we failed to build on it and handed the initiative to Tracton. We finished strong though and ran out winning by 6pts on a score line of Valley Rovers 1-13 Tracton 0-10. We had big performances from Willie Burke, William Hurley, Darragh Looney and the outstanding Kevin Canty. VALLEY ROVERS U21 LADIES FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Valley Rovers 3.11 Inch Rovers 2.03 Valleys under 21 Ladies footballers travelled to youghal on Saturday afternoon to play Inch Rovers in the first round of the 21 Football championship. Conditions were very windy however the School Pitch in Pobalscoil Na Trionode was in excellent condition considering the weather. Valleys won the toss and opted to play with the very strong wind advantage. Valleys got off to a good start with hard work from Jennifer O Donovan leading to a point and a goal from Daire and Eimear Kiely within the first five minutes. Inch then dropped an extra player into the defence and combined with some wayward passing from the Valleys girls the sore remained 1.01 to 0.00 till the 20th minute. Lisa Lynch then moved to midfield and valleys began to press harder. In the last ten minutes of the first half Eimear Kiely added 1.01 and Kate Bernard scored a point. The half time score was 2.03 to 0.01. Having played with the strong wind in the first half the eight point lead didn t appear to be enough. Aileen Cremin and Aoife O Brien came on for the second half and played extremely well. Caroline Murphy and Lisa Lynch lined out at midfield and dominated play in the middle third for the second half. Valleys girls gave an outstanding performance on how to hold procession when playing against the wind. There was always someone on the shoulder looking for procession when moving forward with the ball. The fullback line of Aoife Reilly, Captain Katie Lynch and Aoife O Brien were always in control giving great protection to Emma O Brien in Goal. Inch got two goals in the second half both from penalties which epitomises the determination of this line to let no one pass. The half back line of Clare and Sara Dwyer plus Grainne Dart O Flynn were full of running and constantly supporting the midfield and half forward line. Immediately after the half time resumption a well worked goal finished off by by Daire Kiely gave Valleys an eleven point lead and appeared to knock the wind out of the Inch girls. Tireless work by the half forward line of Niamh Hurley, Eimear Kiely and Laure Brew kept the ball moving to a full forward line of Daniel Murphy, Daire Kiely and Aileen Cremin who picked off some fine scores. Ellen Fennelly and Kate O Halloran came on in the second half and made valuable contributions to the team demonstrating that this young Valleys team has the talent, determination and skill to do well in this competition as long as they continue to train hard and Page 2 of 6

Valley Rovers have today launched their new mobile website. Valley Rovers Website continues to grow in popularity with 58,666 visits in 2016. In the past two years the majority of website traffic has been from mobile devices, 72% in 2015 and 78% in 2016. The old website despite serveing us very well in the last 6 years was not mobile responsive and has come to the end of its natural life. Valley Rovers is one of the first Clubs to offer a mobile responsive website to supporters and ahead of a lot of county websites also. You can now look at the website on your phone or tablet in either landscape or portrait mode and the website will configure itself for your ease of viewing. We hope this will make your experience on the website more enjoyable. Valley Rovers have continued its partnership with Sportslomo in providing a website solution for the club and we would like to thank them for their assistance in making this possible. We would also like to thank our website sponsors, local businesses Keohane Readymix, Innishannon House Hotel and Henry O Leary Auctioneers for their continued support. A great new feature especially on mobile devices is the photo gallery, we think it is a major improvement, we hope you like it. Please take a look around the new website and we d appreciate any feedback. Page 3 of 6
