A Note from the General Manager.. Dear members, As I am penning this note we are still in the clean-up phase after Hurricane Michael graced his eyewall through the center of Dublin Georgia. Here at the club we took every precaution to minimize the damage to the club and golf course. We did have several fallen trees some structural damage on the cart shed, and the range netting was torn due to high winds. We also had a substantial amount of food spoilage that had to be thrown out due to the power loss. With that being said, we hope all of our members and staff made it through the storm with no horrible hardships. November offers so many opportunities for you as a member to enjoy everything that Dublin Country Club has to offer. Temperatures should begin to be in the 60 s to 70 s with limited rain and golf course conditions will be absolutely perfect. As many of you know our Thanksgiving Brunch is a big hit at the club where you can come celebrate and give thanks. We also have our Date Night scheduled on November 16th, which is always a favorite! And let s not forget about the Seafood Buffet that is scheduled on November 30 th. The staff and I will be working closely with your Board of Directors to generate a Social and Golf Calendar for the year. Our intent is to have these member events set in stone allowing you the convenience to mark your calendar with all of the great upcoming events we will be hosting at the club in 2019. Now what I know all of you are wondering..where s Louie? Well, he is in his second month of behavioral training and we are slated to pick him up on the 9 th of November. Tami and I were allowed a short visit at the beginning of October and he has made great progress! I am so excited to also let you know that we have finally moved into our new home in Dublin! Thanks to the entire membership for making this transition a breeze and for those members that assisted us through the moving process. As always, thank you for your continued and loyal support of Dublin Country Club. At your service, John E. Wavrick III, PGA General Manager/Head Golf Professional Dublin Country Club 689 Country Club Rd. Dublin, GA 31021 (265) (478) 272-1469 Ext. 205 DCC Members In a showing of appreciation to the faithful service of the Dublin Country Club employees, I would like to invite each and every Member to participate in the 2018 Annual Employee Holiday Fund. Many have expressed that one of the best assets of the club is our staff. Our goal is to create a friendly atmosphere while maintaining a high level of service. This Holiday Fund is a great way to express your sincere appreciation for the staff members you interact with on a day to day basis as well as for those who work behind the scenes. The staff greatly appreciates such support from all of the Members. Traditionally, a majority of club members contribute to this fund. To accomplish this all members have been billed $20.00 on their November statement. If you would like to increase the amount or not contribute, please contact the accounting office before November 30 th 2018 to have your club account adjusted. Unfortunately, we cannot remove or change any contributions from your account after the deadline of November 30th, since the distribution to employees will have already been put into motion as of this date. Your contribution is used solely to benefit and thank the employees of Dublin Country Club. Your participation is deeply appreciated and will aid us in building a permanent, highly motivated staff, eager to serve you. We wish all of our members a peaceful and happy holiday season.

Hello from the course.. October was a mess! The storm did knock down around 20 trees and left debris that equaled around 200 (at least that s what we felt). Overall we had more building damage than tree damage. Two buildings had the doors ripped off and 5 cart shed buildings suffered roof damage. Additionally several cart shed doors were torn off hinges and had slats broken loose. We also had the driving range net near eleven tee was ripped in several places and the poles at the practice tee bent in different directions. It has taken about two weeks to get cleaned to the point where we can mow one complete last time before heading into the winter months. We were able to get the irrigation system up and operational about a week after the storm. We are having some controller issues on holes 12, 14 and 15. We believe that we are close to having the problem corrected. While we work on the problem we will be watering those holes during the day. We also have spread the rye seed (winter grass) on all the par 3 tees and driving range tee. We will be watering those areas several times a day over the next few weeks so please be patient. Thanks for helping with ball marks on the greens and raking footprints out of the bunkers. Take Care, Hampton Kicklighter Jr. CGCS From the Pro Shop.. Last month, we started focusing on the new USGA rules taking effect January 1, 2019. The topic highlighted for October was about accidentally moving your golf ball during Ball Search. There are many key changes for specific areas of the golf course, including the Putting Green, Penalty Areas, and Bunkers. This month, we ll take a look at one of the five most significant changes - the new relaxed rules in Penalty Areas. Basically, a golfer is now allowed to ground his/her club and to move loose impediments in a penalty area. The USGA summarizes the new rules in its Overview of the Rules Modernization Initiative document on its website, http://www.usga.org/rules-hub.html. The summary for Penalty Areas is as follows: Penalty areas expanded beyond water hazards: Redand yellow-marked penalty areas may now cover areas the Committee decides to mark for this purpose (such as deserts, jungles, or lava rock fields), in addition to areas of water. Expanded use of red penalty areas: Committees are given the discretion to mark all penalty areas as red so that lateral relief is always allowed (but they may still mark penalty areas as yellow where they consider it appropriate). Elimination of opposite side relief option: You are no longer allowed to take relief from a red penalty area on the opposite side from where the ball last entered the penalty area (unless a Committee adopts a Local Rule allowing it). Removal of all special restrictions on moving or touching things in a penalty area: There is no longer a penalty if you touch or move loose impediments (such as leaves, stones and sticks) or touch the ground or water with your hand or your club in a penalty area. The other four significant changes include: How to Drop a Ball You will now drop your ball from knee height into the relief area. Time for Ball Search Three minutes will be the maximum allotted time to search for a ball, rather than the current five minutes. Repairing Spike Marks Allows for repairing spike marks and other damage on the putting green caused by a person, an animal, or maintenance practices. Leaving Flagstick in the Hole If you make a stroke from on the green and your ball hits the flagstick in the hole, there will be no penalty. For more information on golf s new Rules, please visit usga.org or randa.org. As a reminder, please be aware the Pro Shop Business hours will change. The new hours will be 9:am-5:30 Monday thru Saturday. Marlene READ THE ENTIRE NEWSLETTER! Hidden in this month s club newsletter is a member s club number.
