55th Edition - Leadership Knot and Lashings 29th July st/14th Brighton - Sea Scouts (Scruffies News Media ) SCRUFFIES NEWS Crazy Speech Lashed Local Dog SAVES SCOUT LEADERSHIP & IDENTITY from Weird Orange Alien And the correct tone is set for Scouting and Leadership! Scruffie is a Leadership Expert and International Adventurer in Scouts. He has been to many countries and made friends in all of them. But lately there has been so much noise and strange things in the news. He had to create a New Media Empire just to work out what was Fake and what was Real. So when he heard from his American friends that a Weird Orange haired Alien had invaded their Jamboree, he had to look into it. He saw immediately that the Wrong kind of LEADERSHIP was on Display and the Scout Message was being hijacked. But what could he do, He didn't have enough Air Miles to get to the US to deal with this directly. How would he RESIST and RESPOND?!! Then he realised it was simple. The best way to fight back was by doing things well, and doing good things. Talk is cheap and Talk wasn't achieving things. He would run the world's greatest Leadership day. It would be Amazing. The best, The greatest, Incredible. (Ed Ok Scruffie we get the idea) Scruffie would Show that Leadership is not about BIG TALK, And loud Speeches, it was about getting things done, Communicating, Caring and helping (ED. Scruffie looks to his Mentor TONY to get ideas to counter those being TRUMPETED) Scruffie Knew that if he showed that working together and problem solving beats Talking loudly and rudely, every time, he would defeat the Messages being sent out by the Orange haired Aliens. He called his mates and before you could say 'SAD" - an Amazing day was prepared and All the Youth leadership were invited! Scruffie the Knots Master; CCO (Chief Construction Officer), Interim Communications Director; Head of Problem Solving, Puzzle master, TIME MAGAZINE dog of the Year. 1 Adventure expert Dog 29 Enthusiastic leadership learners Poles 4 Mascots 4 PATROLS :The Mexicans, The Canadians, The Midwesterners, The Californians 9 Bases with complex problems to solve using construction equipment 5 Adult leaders 3 Youth Helpers 20 American Style pizzas 4 A-frames 4 Tripods 4 Individual Mascots 1 Excellent ball based scoring system Stuffed Lives Matter Lashings Made Great Again We are going to Build a Wall and a Ladder to go over it Avoid the Swamp
Each team build an A-FRAME and tripod, they need to use these objects and a limited set of resources to solve multiple complex problems using Knots and lashings. Make LASHINGS GREAT AGAIN...!!! SCOUT SKILLS THE TASK 1. Knots and Lashings Complete as many bases as possible. Your team has a set 2. Problem Solving amount of equipment that they must carry with them 3. Team organising and communication through each obstacle to solve each problem and win the highest score for each base. (See end for the Rules) THANKS Tony: Thank you for all the equipment and materials, Its always there sorted and ready for the Leaders to use Daniel, Steve, Meena and Tony for Coming down and giving your time. Nick, Sam and Tomas (Youth helpers) Scruffie's News Media for Sponsorship, Recording, Promoting, Publishing and International Awareness. Step 1: Build an A-Frame, This can be used to Carry a person, and a mascot. Remember, STUFFED LIVES MATTER!!! Next the team moves itself and its equipment to the "SANDBOX" in the Park. The Migrant workers are coming to join in the fun. Scruffie welcomes them to the GAME. The BASES - 9 Awesome bases - Each TEAM has a token and can select a base to complete. Then Off they go to complete it, Returning later to the next Open Base. If you try and Cheat or get help from the Russians, then Scruffie will get a Special Counsel. Scruffie teaches each team what they need to know. Then he sits back and observes. Good leaders should know when to be QUIET and Stop TALKING. Scruffie tries to explain this to some nearby birds whose TWEETING was VERY VERY annnoying.
THE AMAZING RACE. - CARRY a Team member and Mascot through the course recovering the Lost s (Balls) along the way. Its almost like a Paper chase, what will be Real and which is Fake? Who will win the Race to be the candidate? SWAMP: Unfortunaly instead of the SWAMP being drained, it was filled up. Scruffie shows how you can avoid being sucked into the Muck and dirt of the Polictal Swamp. Take your Team with you. And the Buckets, Dont Leak on your team Members. BLIND Leading the BLIND : What happens when you are blinded by a Leader and can only hear their voice going through your head. Well - On this base through the ROSE bushes, The Patrol are blind folded, the Rider is not. This Should End Well. - If Each Person works together and the Leader Communicates Clearly. What Examples of International Leaders communicating well, can you think of? hmmmmm MANY RIVERS to CROSS...Border guards on the River grande...must be a Boring job. Most Illegal immigrants arrive through Airports like everyone else.(ed. Moorabin Airport?) Can they Bridge river grande@...
Some Chariots and Groups are better than others. This team did really well. Maybe it was listening that helped. Or planning organising and implementing. Not talking and shouting. At Times Scruffie has to Stop and check that we have control of our Emotions and instincts. Apparently this problem was caused by"both sides" _ Scruffie didnt agree. POND: Catch the Tweets... So Many Tweets flyng around can you catch them before the next group come out. Scruffie Says, dont get overwhelmed. TREE: Can you take the SIGN of your Building? Having got tired of being associated with a word for "flatulance" or "to beat", Take the sign down. TOWER : Who Can build the Highest Trump Tower. (And get Bayside council to pay for it). It must be the GREATEST, the best, AMAZING, Incredible. TOWER: Scruffie wants to know whether these workers have minimum Wage and healthcare or if the Developers are using shortcuts?
TOWER: Scruffie Thought that there may be some contractor quality issues here but as they were likley to never be paid anyway, it all balances out. Some mascots were treated better than others. Scruffie is very Angry about this, as an Advocate of Equality Scruffie is deeply concerned. STUFFED LIVES MATTER!!! WALL: Build a Better Wall... LADDERS: and People will build a Better ladder... Its the nature of things
Pizza time: Delicious WALLS can be useful, Not all of them are bad. Thanks to youth Helpers for coming down to assist.
Everyone agreed that Scruffies postive problem solving message was better than the WEIRD Orange Alien s Jamboree Speech. Smiles all round. Others Said that Scruffie had Made PIZZA Great again. And Doubled Down. - 2 Slices at once? Well. Seems like we are All Tired of winning. We have been winning so Much. Fortunately Scruffie had PRIZES - For best Patrol, Best leader. It was AMAZING. INCREDIBLE. After a Successful day Making Lashings great again, everyone agreed, cos people Say. Believe Me. Believe Me.That when you do Positive things and Problem solve instead of Talking and Shouting - you can overcome poor leadership and put all the Orange haired Aliens messages aside. (Ed. At least in Australia, we dont need to take on External values unless we choose to. ) Scruffie has saved the Day again, And Scout Skills and Values had beaten Back Crazyness and weird Speeches. We we reminded of Core Scout Values of Fun, Learning and Problem solving. Scuffies American friends were really pleased and said it gave them great hope!
THE FULL GAME DESCRIPTION and RULES KNOT your Average Lashing Adventure, Its Tremendous, The greatest, Its TRUMPTASTIC OBJECTIVE : Be the Greatest Patrol by returning to the Tremendous Hall from the Amazing Lashing Adventure with the Largest number of Balls. THE MOST BALLSS EVER in Any Game EVER. (Balls Counted in Each Patrol box at 19h30, and we will have Pizza and make Mexico Pay for it ) Summary: (The best summary, with the least words, but great words the best words) Each patrol has a set list of equipment.(the Best List, we have great Lists, the Best lists) The goal is to use the Patrol and Equipment to complete as many of the Bases and Challenges as possible and earn "TRUMP Points" (balls). Each Ball you win, you need to carry with you. If you drop one, you lose it. (Like Hillary lost the election)and the you are loser, So SAD, Its Sad All Patrols and their equipment needs to be used and moved by the Patrol throughout the event and returned to the hall at the end. - To Win and be the winner, and be tired of winning, Have the most "Trump Point" Balls in the box and win the Electoral college and the Popular vote. Run Book: (NOT FAKE NEWS< the Media are TOTALLY making this up, Its Fake News) Preparation: Each Patrol Needs to Build an A-FRAME Chariot and Tripod. - Along with these you need to make sure you can transport all your equipment, balls and mascot with you. Do this without dropping or Losing your balls/mascot. Using the first 25 Minutes each patrol must build these and manufacture a gadget to ensure they can carry all Equipment allocated by their own patrol from the Hall, to the Park over and around all bases and obstacles. Complete Bases: (There are 9, They are tremendous, the BEST, and the Russians have nothing to do with them) When you get to the Park, Go to the Base Selection Board at the Rose garden. Select a Base for your Patrol and assign your token. When you complete the base, return the token and move on to another base, Rules: You MUST take your Mascot, Balls and ALL Listed equipment and carry it with you through All activities. You can request additional equipment and if approved you will HAVE to carry it with you the WHOLE EVENT. (Some bases may have additional items to help complete) Each Base has its own rules to win or lose points but the principles are that you must carry them with you, if you drop them on the floor you lose them. (Loser, So SAD) The Principles is to BUILD TOOLS and GADGETS to solve problems, So you may get bonus points for building smart Solutions using Knots and Lashings. (Build Amazing Tremendous things and Make lashing great Again) You CANNOT use your hands to recover BALLS, (Your hands are to small anyway) you need to use Gadgets and put them in your BUCKET to remove the TOXINS, After that they are safe to carry and store, Equipment List: (THE BEST list, The media will tell you its a Small list, but its a large list, The biggest List) 2 Long Poles (2.4m) 8 Staves - (1.8m) Short Poles 2 Broom Sticks 1 Mascot 2 Bucket Extra rope tape or String Ball capturing attachments 1 Day Pack 20 Ropes Frapping Mallet
