1 Hello, Les Mills Freaks- This is a story about a BODYCOMBAT program that grew from to averaging over 50 per class, not to mention over 70 for (multiple) launch times. First, let me say this, the truth: The success of the program is due to the hard work, dedication and passion of the Brooks team- we have an awesome coach, Missy Miles, a great GFM, Tracey Miller, and an amazing group of the BEST combat instructors in the world. The team work is phenomenal- we practice HARD together on a regular basis, helping each other with form, strength and the 5 key elements of all Les Mills programs. We work to be authentic martial artist, choose costumes and themes with great effort, and we treat each and every class as if it is a command performance for the crown. We love our people we know their names and backgrounds, their families and their goals. We know what tracks they love and those they hate, and those they hate to love. We have MANY "big losers" who have dropped hundreds of pounds, and many others who have added inches of muscle all over their bodies. There are people who fight over their space in class, people who line up 30 minutes before class and a couple who have even crossed over to our side and become instructors. We have teenagers to grandmas - here s one way we got them in When Brooks opened, it was a brand new club with people who had never seen or even heard of Les Mills or BODYCOMBAT. Our classes averaged or so for about a year, and we were a little discouraged. I had an idea that we needed to begin to build a community, to really get to know people, let them know us, build relationships and establish trust, so we could help them understand and catch our passion for BODYCOMBAT. I began and list I made a large poster with some korus and pictures and began asking people to sign up for updates and information. We began building our group, slowly. Once a week, I would send out a funny, informative . Sometimes it would be a link to the sizzler, sometimes a link to learn the moves or maybe even a good YouTube video. I tried to make it fun by adding my own little BODYCOMBAT poems and it caught on. People began to wait for my funny s, responding, learning each others names and building friendships with the instructors and each other. Members would forward the s on to friends and invite them to join the class. We started to get regulars and the class grew. From there, I would send a funny , poem, maybe a link, but, if we were mixing, I would take requests that was a good boost they loved to come to class knowing I was playing their track. The group was invested and began to take ownership of the program. The regulars kept coming, fighting harder, and more and more people joined our group. Our current average evening attendance is in the mid 50s and growing. January should be a mad house, just how we like it! Here are some of the fun poems I sent to my freaks: Body COMBAT on Thursday, and also TONIGHT! We'll bring the passion, YOU bring the FIGHT!

2 We're gonna scream, and burn it up RIGHT, By this weekend you'll find your pants aren't so TIGHT! Thursday night, we'll rock the floor So get your booty in the door! Amadeus we will ROCK And the "system" we will SHOCK. Just a clue for tracks to come, 5:30 tomorrow, get cha some! (This one was when I had a sub so I could take the family to Disney World) 'twas the night before combat, as she cleaned the house, to take hubby and kiddies to hang with the mouse. She announced, with a grin that Cathi was IT! In her place, Thursday night, so come ready to HIT!! Set your mind, the body will follow, fight fierce and strong and hard come to combat, be ready to holla! Build muscle and burn some lard! The countdown to launch has begun, Come for some wicked fierce kickin' fun. This Saturday, the 16th, Brooks YMCA Come ready to fight, melt your backside away! Don't think of skipping Thursday or tonight- How are those pants? Maybe still a little tight? So get ready, get set, bring a friend, win the prizeyour new body is calling, bigger muscle, smaller size. A Valentine's Day Combat Poem: Chocolate on Valentines, such a treat So many yummy things to eat Don't wuss out and skip the fight, Body Combat, Thursday night, Bring a date to fight a round, And THEN go out and paint the town, Earn your right to indulge, work off that candy fueled bulge. Just show up ready for some pain, Valentine s Combat is OFF THE CHAIN!!
