Information related to the administration of the Harkness Dance Center may be found in the Harkness Dance Center and Education Department record groups. Scope and Content The Events. Harkness Dance Center. record group is arranged into 5 series: Breaking Ground, Fridays at Noon, Sundays at 3, Harkness Dance Project, and Miscellaneous Recitals and One-Time Events. All series are arranged chronologically by season. The Breaking Ground series ( , 0.25 cubic feet) contains administrative and publicity information related to an annual dance lecture and film series co-sponsored with the Simon Center for Adult Life and Learning. Some seasons include four or five events while others only include one or two. No events were held in the or seasons, although there is a folder for the season. The Fridays at Noon series ( , 0.75 cubic feet) includes administrative material, performer information, printed programs and publicity for the informal performance and discussion series for new works and works-in-progress created in The Sundays at 3 series ( , 0.75 cubic feet) includes administrative material, performer information, printed programs and publicity for the dance preview series for emerging and seasoned choreographers begun in The Harkness Dance Project series ( , 2.5 cubic feet) includes administrative material, contracts, printed programs, and publicity for the center's major dance series, which debuted in December 1994 at Playhouse 91 and later moved to The Duke beginning with the season. Each season includes a general folder containing administrative material and publicity related to the overall series as well as individual folders for each of the performers. Some seasons include additional topical folders. The Miscellaneous Recitals and One-Time Events series ( , 0.50 cubic feet) consists mainly of administrative information and printed programs for events that were not part of one of the major presenting series mentioned above. The bulk of the series relates to student dance recitals (including those for children and for advanced students). The series also includes information on a dance presentation series sponsored in , memorials for Bonnie Bird and Pauline Koner, and miscellaneous special events. 1
