2 Heartbreak Baker Format February 11, 2017 Registration at 8:00 A.M. 1. There will be two divisions, one for Varsity and one for Junior Varsity. 2. This Event will be an all Baker Format. All games will be bowled in a modified Baker Style*. Teams will be allowed substitutions at the beginning of each baker game but the line-up order can not be changed. No mid-game substitutions will be allowed unless there is an emergency. Teams will alternate lanes. 3. Lane assignments will be pre-assigned by the tournament committee prior to check-in. 4. At 8:45 a.m. a 15 minute practice session will begin. 5. Teams will then bowl 6 (two-game) qualifier matches across 12 lanes. Even number lane assignments will move one pair to the right. Odd number lane assignments will move one pair to the left. One lane courtesy should be observed during competition. Scoring for the Baker Match will be all scratch. 6. The competition will then be cut to the top 16 Teams in each Division (or an appropriate number based on entries) after the six-match qualifier. 7. There will be a 30 minute meal break after the qualifier. 8. After the meal break, a 10 minute practice session will begin. 9. The competition will then be seeded in matches utilizing the NCAA match-up format. (Top Seed vs. Bottom Seed, etc.) 10. Next, the athletes will bowl head-to-head, best two of three, Baker matches until the field has been reduced to the final four. Each match will be decided by the team who wins two games. Total pins will not be a factor in deciding the winner. In the event of a tie, there will be a fourframe Baker roll-off. This will be the last 4 bowlers of the tied game. 11. Winners of the Final Four will roll-off to decide first and second place. 12. Losers of the Final Four will roll-off to decide third and fourth place. 13. Awards presentation immediately following. Awards will be given to the Top Four in each division.

Tie breaking examples: If game 2 in a 3-game set ends in a tie there will be a 4-frame roll-off in the same order game 2 ended in B1 B2 B3 B4. If game 1 in a 2-game set ends in a tie there will be a 4-frame roll-off in the same order game 1 ended in B3 B4 B1 B2. Please check in at least one hour before squad time. Tardy teams will receive zero pins for frames missed. This event is open to all current high schools which have a Varsity Team in High School Competition. 3. Only registered bowlers may bowl. Active team is 4 bowlers plus 2 substitutes. Each team must be composed of 2 girls and 2 boys. The two substitutes must be 1 boy and 1 girl. Substitution will be allowed only at the conclusion of a complete game and shall be authorized by the designated coach. Mid-game substitution will only be allowed in case of injury. 4. There will be separate divisions for Varsity and Junior Varsity. A full fee is charged for each team. Bowlers may only bowl for their school. The only exception made is for schools that must combine in order to roster two boys and two girls for a full team. 5. TEAM ENTRY: A fee of $ per team must accompany the entry. No refunds will be issued. Checks returned for insufficient funds will be assessed a $25.00 fee. 6. All teams shall bowl scratch (no handicap). 7. All coaches (or designated coaches) will be required to sign score sheets. Errors in scoring must be reported to the Tournament Director immediately. Any changes in scoring can only be made by the tournament management. 8. Awards will be given to the TOP FOUR TEAMS IN EACH DIVISION. 9. Teams will check in with the tournament office when ALL members of the team are in the bowling center. Bowlers should report not less than 1 hour before squad time. 10. Bowlers should bring their own equipment, especially shoes if possible. 11. All equipment used in the tournament must meet USBC specifications. Illegal equipment will constitute a forfeit and scores for that event shall be disallowed. 12. Bowling Attire: All bowlers should be dressed alike in shirts and the same color pants. School shirts must reflect the name of the school and/or the school logo or mascot. No hats allowed. No jeans allowed. 13. Only registered bowling team members and registered coaches will be allowed in the immediate bowling area. 14. Tardy bowlers: Bowling shall begin in accordance with a previously arranged schedule, unless the tournament manager authorizes a delay. Any player or team arriving late shall begin play with the score counting beginning with the frame and game then being bowled. All frames missed will be assessed zero points. 15. No tobacco products, drinking of alcoholic beverages or unsportsmanlike conduct will be permitted while participating in the event. Outside food or drinks are NOT allowed to be brought into the center. Bowlers will not be permitted the use of amusement games or pool tables during their team s competition. 16. Any disputes during the tournament or exceptions to the above rules and regulations will be resolved at the discretion of the tournament manager and/or the tournament committee.
