9 Further instalment to Most CBOB Players The Class of After the publication of this story, I received the following from Brian Gibson (Class of 1970). Brian played 150 plus games for the club and is current Co-Manager of Brothers First Grade. (Editor s Note: Gibbo and Poggo are real good mates and the is a perfect example of good natured banter): Talking of Pogo's ridiculous claim that 1972 produced more CBOB players. These are the ones that come to mind from 1970; Peter McCoy, Tony Duncan, Geoff Whiting, Michael Riley, Bob McPhail, Peter Wylie, Brian Kerwick, Tony Ivits, Brian Gibson, Pat Barry, Steve Callanan, Mark Heffernan, Brendan (champ chewer brewer) Vernon, Mark Anderson, Mark Bailey, Paul (Grandpa) Parmentier, Paul Murphy, Mark Kline, Peter Wiggan, Phil Johnson, John (Mush) Miley, Steven (shi Ted) Prosser, Mark Byron, Greg Mudie, Pat Wheelahan, Tony Quinlivan and bringing up the rear at fullback Ian (the Moose) Meers. Pogo, you need to get off the drink! The club scrutineers will have to confirm Brian s claim and are hoping some of his classmates (Moose, Wheelo, KO, Jocko, Brew etc); will be able to verify. The talk of the number of players from the classes of St.Pius X also prompted Craig Swanson (Swannee) to send this in: I am going to claim 2nd for the class of 79 with the following :- Craig Swanson, Damian Timmins, Paul Harper, John Ventura, Tony Smith, Linn Smith, Anthony Cahill, Peter Foley, Michael Williams, Paul MacMillan, Danny Hanrahan, Ted Bain, Gerard Heads, Bill Braitling Ralf Schiano, Peter Waddell Maybe relegated to third depending on the result of the scrutineers investigations.

23 318 Shows In 15 Minutes Published on Jul 18, 2013 This Yarn about "The Bush TV Man" is a tribute to my father who grew up in Country New South Wales in Australia (actually born in the small town of Eugowra near Parkes) and who came to the City of Sydney in his youth. Dad never forgot his country upbringing where families and communities looked and cared for each other. His wish would be that communities and families remain connected not around the TV -- but face to face around the Bush TV or Campfire. Cheers! Michael was a member of the 1981 Barraclough Cup Premiership side. Unfortunately he was injured during that year and missed playing in the Grand Final. But being a great team man acted as our Assistant Team Manager.

Brothers Rugby Club Sydney was formed by Old Boys of St Pius X College Chatswood in 1947 and was at that time known as Christian Brothers Old Boys or CBOB s.

We will be fielding 4 senior grades and an U21 s colts team in 2013 in Second Division of the NSW Suburban Rugby Union Competition. We are on the Web:http:// www.brothersrugby. com.

In the 2011 season, we won both first and second grade grand finals and the Division 4 club championship.

In 2005, it was decided to change our name from CBOB s to the very familiar Brothers Rugby Club Sydney. Brothers being one of the most well known rugby brands in Australia. We will be fielding 4 senior grades and an U21 s colts team in 2013 in Second Division of the NSW Suburban Rugby Union Competition. We are on the Web: com.au/home/ In 2012 we won the first grade Grand Final, and narrowly lost Grand Finals in Second Grade and Colts. All this while winning the Club Championship and promotion to Division 2 of Subbies. In the 2011 season, we won both first and second grade grand finals and the Division 4 club championship. Brothers has a long and proud history in the Sydney suburban competition with a long list of premierships won over the years. This is testament to the strength of the club, from its formative years, through to the modern era. Brothers are affiliated to the 5 Brothers clubs in Queensland including Brothers Brisbane and also Brothers Joondalup in Western Australia. Brothers are also affiliated to the Marist Rugby Federation in New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji and Samoa, numbering approximately 40 clubs in all. Brothers Rugby Club Sydney (formerly CBOBs) aims to provide a competitive rugby environment in conjunction with an active social programme for all its playing and non-playing members. Brothers are and always have been a social rugby club, with an emphasis on enjoyment through participation. There is a grade of rugby for players of all levels of skill, ability, fitness and girth. We play competitively, but ensure that we enjoy our time representing Brothers. Players of any ability are welcome at Brothers, as it is a great place to continue your rugby enjoyment. Brothers will show you the best sporting and social experience of your life. We train on a Tuesday and Thursday night through the rugby season from 7pm. We are based at Roseville Chase Oval.
