Please ask for the data before you make a decision. As you may or may not know, there is NO data to support this action. The whole matter is directly related to the Columbia River agreement to end gill netting on the main stem of the river. It is a retaliatory action against recreational fishers who pay a major portion of your budget. Oregon fisherman also pay a special Columbia River endorsement of $ and for this, we get excluded from the a section of the river? It does not make sense to me nor should it make sense to you. I urge you to vote NO on the making the Youngs Bay exclusion zone a permanent feature of the regulations. Sincerely yours, Blaine Ackley

8 Cc: Jamie Hughes Stop the slaughter!! Restore the limit Sunday, July 30, :40:04 PM As an avid outdoorsman and conservationist I feel the unmanaged slaughter of smallmouth bass and walleye on the Columbia river is absolutely unbelievable and terrible! The number one gamefish in the country is a BASS! As a state what is being done against these sport fish is detrimental and narrow minded. Show the data that says smallmouth and walleye are TOP predators of salmon young, show the facts that support they prey more heavily than every other predator in the river systems. Consider the economic impact that these sportfish can have, consider the draw of anglers to fish a world class fishery that supports more than just salmon and sturgeons, one that supports trophy class bass and walleye, one that can draw large tournaments and venues. Stop the assault on these fine sportfish, start managing correctly! Sent from my iphone

Your actions are reprehensible to the conservation minded sportsmen who pay the licensing fees to maintain such a prized fishery. To witness a world class fishery destroyed by decision of one Recreational Fisheries Management Program Manager is criminal. More focus is warranted on supporting Micropterus Dolomeiu and Micropterus Salmoides as they are highly coveted gamefish responsible for generating billions of dollars annually. 20 jonathan potter Proper management of our fisheries Saturday, July 29, :32:40 PM Hello, I am ing you this afternoon after it came to my attention that you and other associated parties have been named in regards to some pretty controversial fisheries management practices. Namely killing walleye, bass, and other species for the sake of the salmon population. I am not going to denounce you for your goal in trying to re-establish a functioning salmon population in the Columbia. However, the practices you have utilized in this goal are problematic. In slaughtering bass and walleye you are wounding another fishery that your states tourism dollars depend on. If you really wanted to help the salmon help by working to improve our fish ladders, regulations, and by combating overfishing. Messing with an ecosystem you cannot begin to understand is not the way to go. I hope you can take this message to heart and do some honest work in improving our fisheries. Best regards, Jon P.

22 Cc: Adam Terry Michael Gauvin Stop the Slaughter of the Bass and Walleye NOW!!! Sunday, July 30, :04:50 PM Michael, My life's passion is fishing. I learned from a young age to fish from my grandfather and my dad. Not only did they teach me all about fishing but they also taught me about conservation and respecting nature. And now I have a 14 month old son that I count the days until I can take him fishing with me. I want him to be able to fish and enjoy the outdoors...and maybe one day teach his children how to fish. I say this to you because I beg you to reinstate the 5 fish limit on bass and walleye immediately. I'm very concerned that without the 5 fish limit we are ruining the future for my son and generations after him. This is about the future of all fisheries so please stop the destruction of these world class fisheries NOW! You can find me on all social media sharing my fishing story and I will be telling my followers to voice their concern to you until we get this changed. Thank you for your time and do the right thing, put the limit back in place immediately. Adam Terry Sent from my iphone

28 Randy King Bass limit Saturday, July 29, :15:08 PM Hi sir.. I'm writing you in hopes that you will reconsider and put a 5 fish limit back on Bass.. I'm 48 and have lived in Oregon my entire life and have fished all species.. The impact of Bass on the Salmon run is very minimal.. The change in the flocks of Black Cormorant and Seals have an extreme impact.. Two of the best runs of Salmon and Stealhead come from the Columbia and the Umpqua and both those systems have a large population of Bass so it's pretty easy to see the impact.. 31 Michael Gauvin Fwd: Removal of fishing regulations on Columbia River Wednesday, August 2, :46:47 AM Begin forwarded message: Andrew Howie August 2, 2017 at 7:13:17 AM PDT Cc: Removal of fishing regulations on Columbia River Good Day Michael, I wish to express my displeasure with your decision to remove retention and size restrictions on the Columbia River and its tributaries. This decision will have long term effects on not only the ecosystem but the health of your state financially. The Columbia River has been long regarded as one of the worlds best places to catch a number of species in particular Walleye and Bass. It's believed that he the Columbia River will produce the next world record walleye. This belief brings anglers form all over North America to this water way in search of this target and they are spending millions of dollars in the Oregon each year. The money spent on licenses, food, fuel, lodging and fishing tackle in the state will disappear and have the potential to collapse your economy. As a Sportsman I recognize that rules and regulations are in place manage the resource from both a biological and fiscal rationale. I would ask you to impose appropriate restrictions for both size and retention on Walleye and Bass immediately. And I hope the the damage caused already can be repaired. Respectfully yours, Andrew Howie Lakewood Outfitters
