1 42nd Carolinas Father-Son Pinehurst, NC Area Courses Foxfire Country Club (West), Legacy Golf Links, Longleaf Golf and Country Club, Mid Pines Inn and GC, Seven Lakes Country Club July 25, 2008 Champions: Mack Estridge, Pinehurst, NC and Chris Estridge, Indian Trail, NC Mack and Chris Estridge tied the championship record of 65 to win the 42nd Carolinas Father-Son Championship at Legacy Golf Links. Their 7-under par effort included 7 birdies and no bogeys. Mack, 59 works at Foxfire Resort and son Chris, 41, is part-owner of a clothing store. Chris, who finished runner-up in consecutive years at the North Carolina Junior Championship ( 83 and 84) was thrilled with his dad s putting effort. I hit it close and Dad made all the putts, said Chris. The longest putt we made was 10 feet. The Estridges, who began playing in the Father-Son when Chris was a junior took a hiatus and just recently returned to the Father-Son arena. The duo began the day with a birdie-birdie start which gained momentum for the rest of the day. We both just played well today, that s what it boiled down to, said Mack. It was a lot of fun. Finishing alone in second were Jim and Brent Pridgen of Jamestown, NC and Winston-Salem, NC respectively who fell one stroke short by carding a six-under par 66.
