1 39th Carolinas Father-Son Pinehurst, N.C. Area Courses Club at Longleaf, Legacy Golf Links, Foxfire Country Club (Red Fox), Seven Lakes Country Club, Mid Pines Resort July 29, 2005 Champions: Banks-Banks Wood, Charlotte, NC Banks Wood, Sr. of Charlotte holed a 25-foot birdie putt on the last hole of Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club to claim the 39th Father-Son Championship with his son Banks Wood, Jr., also of Charlotte. The elder Wood s putt secured a narrow one-shot win over South Carolinians T.D. and Thomas Todd of Laurens, SC. The Todds 69 was the only other round in the sixties on the par 72 golf course. T.D. and Thomas Todd lost the 2003 Championship in a four-hole playoff to another Charlotte team, Jim and Peyton Gallagher. The Todds didn t go home empty handed though as they won the B division. Wood, Jr. now adds this event to his other CGA titles: the 2000 North Carolina Junior and the 2004 Carolinas Amateur. The Carolinas Father-Son Championship is a modified alternate-shot event in which both golfers hit tee shots, then complete the hole hitting alternating shots with the selected ball.
