1 EMGA Update 04 May 2017 No Open Play/Open Play Competition For all EMGA members, thanks for the great turnout 11 May, on such a bad weather day. We had 46 of our 51 players playing which was quite a show. While we are still working with the new software, we hope to have all the bugs worked out in the next week or so. Most of it will happen as we get a little more training next week. You will find a new sheet in the sign up notebook listing all OP/OPC dates and there is a place to sign up as a table volunteer. This will help us greatly and we need the help every time we play. Please take the time to volunteer; it also helps you meet and get to know the newer members. As a last reminder, when you do sign up, please put first and last names in the sign up block. We do not know everyone and it sure helps us not make a mistake when entering scores. Thanks John Horsman (jphorsman@aol.com) OPC Chairman 1
2 Tournament Update The sign-up sheet for our next tournament on May 18th is in the Men's Senior Locker room. You may put your own foursome together. Or if you wish to meet other EMGA members, the Tournament Committee will put you in a foursome with others members of your same skill. This will be an Individual Modified Stableford scoring 1 point for a double bogey, 2 points for a bogey, 4 points for a par, 6 points for a birdie, and 8 points for an eagle. We will have 5 flights and paying $30 each for Net and Gross first place in all flights; $20 for second; $15 for third; $10 for fourth; and $5 for fifth. We will also be paying $10 each for the Closest to the Pin from the Yellow and White Tees for a total purse of $820. All coming from your dues with no extra fee required unless you want to sign up for Gross and/or Net skins at check-in for $1 each. Skins will be by for the field for Net and by tee for Gross. We will be using your full-handicap for Net scoring. Flights 1 through 4 will play from the White tees and Flight 5 from the Yellow tees. For those not in Flight 5 (23 or higher Handicap Index), we support anyone wishing to play it forward on the Yellow tees as Rule 3-5 will cover the difference for Net scoring. However in fairness to the rest of the players in your flight, you will not be eligible for any Gross Prize winnings, Gross Skins, or Closest to the Pin. Sign in will be in the EGC Snack Bar between 0645 and 0730 on Thursday May 18th with an 0800 shotgun start. If riding, please pay for your carts in the EGC Pro Shop and bring your receipt to the EMGA sign in. Remember, you must also pay for your Green Fees if not an Option 3 EGC member. Don Knight (d-eknight@comcast.net) Tournament Director Home & Away This is the first call for players for the Pueblo Country Club Home and Away event. We will be playing at Eisenhower on Tuesday, 30 May and at Pueblo Country Club on Friday, 2 Jun. If you would like to play, please send a note to homeaway@emgacolorado.org. The team for the first Home and Away event of the year has been selected. The players are as follows: Russ Baker, Marty Bunker, Duane Congleton, Tony Goodman, Joe Hampton, Jim Huffman, Bob Peterson, Jim Prior, Geo Roberts, Willie Silva, Fred Steffers, and John Tucker. Alternates include John Horsman, Pat Burke, and John Weidner. If you have been selected and cannot play, please let us know as soon as possible. Players Get your money ($120) in to John Hayes. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thanks. John Tuck Tucker EMGA Home and Away Committee 2
