1 Treasurer We had 214 full members, 3 half-year members, 5 social members and 1 honorary lifetime member (Jim Smith). Total income was $29, End of Year balance is $713 compared with $588 for Recommending no increase in dues for Reference attached spreadsheet for breakout of income/expenses. EMGA Budget and Expenses - 28 Oct 20 John Hayes Treasurer Secretary I have been reviewing and monitoring what I perceive has been a successful transition to Golf Genius and potential opportunities to transition/integrate our EMGA database with Golf Genius. Don Mau has been working hard on this integration and has various thoughts on how to pull this off. Don has announced that it is time for him (after eighteen plus years) to step aside, and I had mentioned in the past that I would be willing to work with him to assume those duties. We plan to start that process early November. There are a few key dependencies that seem to be linked to the EMGA database vs Golf Genius. I intend to work with Don Mau to ensure we do not lose these: 1) Spreadsheet file for treasurer to submit tournament and OPC money winners to EGC 2) Annual EMGA membership booklet (If we decide to keep) 3) Membership listing (with GHIN, money, addresses, etc.) updated every GHIN cycle If I feel comfortable with this effort, we could go several directions. One would be that I (or someone) would assume and continue as the database manager, or we could consider adding this responsibility to the duties of the EMGA Secretary. Continuity Books: Board needs to ensure continuity books are being maintained. Attached is a spreadsheet that in the past has been kept by the President. Dennis Beasley and I agreed last year that the Secretary should keep it updated. It shows current officers, Committee chairs, co-workers, award recipients and the Kregel Champ. 2 Junior Golf We had another successful season of support to the EGC Junior Golf Program, held for two weeks during June. This year the EGC Staff utilized the Falcon Golf facilities which made for a better venue for all concerned. We had nine volunteers supporting the two week long events. EGC Staff and junior golf parents were most appreciative of our efforts, I thank Jim Simmerville who took on the role of coordination of volunteers in my absence. We look forward to supporting this event in years to come in both introducing and furthering the game of golf for our future generations. Marty Bunker Chairman, Junior Golf Coordinator EMGA Update Editor In 2017, there were 30 Updates (newsletters) generated and sent out to the membership. The Update Editor had no issues/concerns with regards to the inputs he received. Reminder: The weekly Updates are centered on Tournament/OPC activities, meaning that the Update will not go out until results have been delivered to the Update Editor. All other inputs from other committee personal and others wanting to provide input must be delivered NLT 1700 hours on Thursdays. The Update Editor recognizes that the Tournament/OPC personnel are working on the results and will get them to him as soon as they can. If the Tournament/OPC point of contact for a given week is not going to be delivering results by the end of day or the following day, the Update Editor would appreciate a notification as of such. 3 Tournament Committee We ended up $211 to the good so are covering the $75 shortfall John Hayes calculated due to reduced membership. For this year we changed the format of a couple of tournaments to have 3 each individual, two-man and four-man events. We also changed the payouts to where an individual received $20 for winning a two-man or four-man event and $40 for winning an individual event. The TC philosophy from several years back is that a person should receive more for winning an individual than a team. We also increased the Kregel pot to winners receiving $60 as this is our Premier event. For next year, I'll be re-arranging the tournaments some to spread these around so we do not end up the season with four 4-man events in a row. I also would like to switch dates with OP/OC so we are not having a tournament during the Falcon Invitation when the driving range is closed. Scoring is going faster with the new Golf Genius software, but I do not see a way where we will ever have the Kregel results done before lunch is over and everyone leaves. We need to slip the Trophy presentation to a subsequent lunch. Two options for consideration: 1). Instead of a lunch after the second Kregel round, we have a breakfast at either the start of the first round or the second round. Then two weeks later, we have our fall lunch to elect officers and present the Kregel trophies. We can hold the results till then. The only con is this eliminates a guest speaker for the Kregel lunch. Which reading the updates, not everyone stays for anyway. The pro is breakfast is cheaper than lunches. 2). Keep the Kregel lunch but again do not announce the results until the fall lunch. Speaking of meals, we need to have a group talk with Steve. According to Jim Doukas, he had a pretty good arrangement with the catering staff where they would cut us a break here and there. With my being new and a new head of catering in the EGC, we did not receive such consideration. We were waived the 10% set up charge as in the past (still paid 10% tip which is okay); but the only break we got off their menu prices was $1 a person by going with paper plates. I think the classic example was catering considered 120 cookies sufficient dessert to serve 103 people. I would also like to re-exam why the TC is responsible for working with catering in the first place. All we do is work the menu and provide a final count. We do not set the agenda, arrange for guests, etc. I think it would just be more efficient is everything was handled by a single person or committee. And quite frankly, meal planning is not a natural tournament function of pairing, rules, scoring, etc. Finally, John Hayes mentioned adding some sort of Member-Guest tournament to try and bring in new members. I am open to that but will defer to the Board before incorporating. Don Knight Tournament Director

4 Open Play/Open Play Competition After taking on the Open Play/Open Play Competition duties we all struggled to learn the Golf Genius program (we had no training before competition commenced. We have come a long way and have learned to do it better next year. Unless the committee wants to change our format, we will remain placing $1 in the skins package and the other $4 into the flights with one low Gross and 3 low Nets per flight. When we have a different numbers in the flights we will allocate monies accordingly since we know how to do that now. We will also plan to remain having a NET Bias. This past year we had some really nice crowds and some nice weather for the most part. Would like to keep working on pace of play, too many times it was slow. We have all been playing for many years and we know when it is our group causing the hold up. We managed to fill in holes and add members whenever they showed (forgot to sign up) and we will continue to do that next year. The pro shop has been great about helping with tee times when we have a few extra and I would like to thank them for that. I would also like to help all those who helped man the table: we will keep looking for that help next year as well. 5 EMGA Home and Away Program Thanks, again, to all the participants and helpers in this season's Home and Away program. Thanks also to the EGC staff for great support the entire year. Reference the 9 Sep 2017 Weekly Update for end of year Home and Away. We won 6 of the 8 events and had very small margins for our two losses. For half the events we fielded 12 player teams, one was with 14 players and the other three had 18 players each. I will be trying to add a couple more events for next year. Hopefully Castle Pines will be in the mix again. I will be contacting The Pinery to see if they would like to join in the program. I plan also to see if I can crank up the Triple Crown that fell be the wayside the last few years. John "Tuck" Tucker EMGA Home and Away Program Coordinator Hospitality When information about the welfare of EMGA members or their family members comes to my attention, action is taken on behalf of the EMGA. I am sure that many times I do not learn about a member being hospitalized until much too late to respond. The following were remembered and honored at our Memorial Tournament: Bob Davidson, Bob DeLange, Bob Cataldi, Al Albanesi, Bill Bennett, Joe Rock,Bert Laird Many EMGA members attended each funeral service. An appropriate condolence card was sent to each family on behalf of the men of the EMGA. Bert Laird, a long time EMGA member died on April 26, A private memorial was held. Bert s death happened too close to our Memorial Breakfast and Tournament for his family to attend. He was recognized and will be recognized again at the 2018 Memorial.. Hospital visits were made to those with serious illnesses: Roger Browne and Roy Rogers. Expenditures from the end of the 2017 season: $ Respectfully Submitted, Tom O'Brien Hospitality

Thank you Mo for the great job in keeping this viable information source active for all members. We on the board and various committees need to continue to explore ideas to help you in improving the website and member usage. Mo Hall Webmaster Kregel After-Action Notes We had 98 players for first round. Weather was iffy, but only about 15 minutes of rain. Unfortunately had to disqualify 6 players for improper scorecards. Unfortunately had 11 no-shows, which also affected our luncheon numbers at a loss of $100. Our guest speaker was well received. However several members left before the flight winners and overall championship trophy winners were announced. I agree with the idea of showing the results in the weekly update but waiting until the fall luncheon to recognize the winners and present the trophy. Due to the number of disqualifications as well as the number of late arrivals for both rounds, I think we should stress scorecards and need to arrive on time at the breakfast and in the update the week prior to next year s tournament. I have also noticed many people leave immediately after eating so having a guest speaker every year may not be necessary. Jim Lamberson, VP EMGA CINC Kregel 2017
