Let s congratulate our 4 man Scrambles winners along with or Yellow Ball winners; what a tournament yellow ball; for those of you that hate the yellow ball format; I think it was a big success this year. Congratulations to the Winners; Greg, Tony, Isaac, and Jim; welcome to the TOC. I must admit that blowing the field away by 11 shots was truly amazing. I always thought after the round, did our team leave a couple of shots out there during the round; but never thought our team had left 11 shots out there; LOL. This week we had the Pine Hurst; great team format; and very challenging. Congratulations to the winners, Steve White and Ron Gross. Spring Fling; keep those entries coming in; it would be nice to have a 52 person field this year; I m sure that makes Doug happy; along with the golf course. You can also place checks in the men s club box; for those of you that don t want to mail it to my house. If you are paying with cash; please put in an envolpe and hand it to Doug, or myself; do not drop in box; and hope we get it; this is not a good practice. You should keep one of your playing partners score, and you should keep you score to double check when you receive your official score card back from the player that is keeping it.

If you turn in a score that is higher then you had you will have to keep that score.

You are not allowed to keep your own score card during a tournament. If you are caught keeping your own offical score card you will be disqualified. You should keep one of your playing partners score, and you should keep you score to double check when you receive your official score card back from the player that is keeping it. You are responsible for making sure the numbers are correct on each hole of your offical card. If you turn in a score that is lower then you had, you will be disqualified. If you turn in a score that is higher then you had you will have to keep that score. Scott Merrill - Handicap Chairman We re into our fourth month as the new Board and are just starting to get the hang of it. All scores were entered from last Tourny, that s right Tony & Greg...great rounds!!!! We have another one this weekend and hope to see ya then. Don t forget Palm Springs at the end of the month!!! Just remember...play em down and keep up with the group in front of you. If you have concerns re your handicap or the board, give us a shout. Tim Devaney - Past President It is interesting to see a different side of the golfers you hang out with every weekend.i over heard Randy Jackson talking about how intelligent football coaches are. Nobody in football should be called a genius, he said. A genius is guy like Norman Einstein.And I thought he didn t know anything about football. Did you know that Steve White played basketball for Cal-State Fullerton back in the late 60 s.he was telling me that he used to keep a color photo of himself above his locker. He said, Thats so when I forgot how to spell my name,i can still find my clothes. Some of his scorecards are making more sense now.and this might explain some of the array of ensembles displayed by our membership. A quote form Tiger Woods: Hockey is a sport for white men. Basketball is a sport at for black men. Golf is a sport for white men dressed like black pimps. The Spring Fling and Presidents Cup are approaching fast and it s time for you to break out the new spring fashions and start playing again,bales. 3

5 Doug Peterson - Treasurer From the Treasurer---Since it s April, it must be Master s time and thus the azaleas are blooming along with the dogwoods and those who have Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State and Wisconsin in the Final Four. With Spring Training in full swing, the baseball season is here to compete in your sporting world too. And just when you thought there was just too much good stuff on your plate, our annual Spring Fling flier comes out to further challenge your calendar. Yes, Tahquitz Creek calls on April 30 th and May 1 st for our first road trip of the year. Four man, blind draw teams with skins and cp s and winners and losers and Chamber of Commerce weather. The usual 8:00 am tee time and shotgun starts with the Legends then Resort courses to test your teams collective skills. Our normal cocktail party will still be held, in abbreviated form, on Thursday afternoon after golf and lunch. We have guys coming from Bakersfield to Bullhead, Las Vegas to Lake Havasu, Reno to Indio, Northridge to Murrieta, and all points in between. We can t draw the teams until we know who ALL the players are going to be so get your entry in quickly and come join the fun maybe pick up part of the prize fund too. Since I mentioned April and some of its sports activities, I would be remiss if I didn t mention this is also when high school golf is also going strong. I add this because there are currently at least 9 high school golfers probably more using clubs you have donated to the Klubs 4 Kids program. Four of those golfers are Katella High School freshmen who are learning and growing as golfers and young men thanks to your generosity. They started with nothing but took to the game quickly. One will play some varsity matches this year and all of them could play next year with their dedication, effort and desire to improve. Your search for a better game through technology has given them an opportunity to learn and play a sport that will probably frustrate them for the rest of their lives and they got on that road for free, thanks to your gifts. They may hate you later, but right now they are very thankful and appreciative, and so am I. And speaking of gifts, this last week I was given a gift of information that I d like to pass along to those of you who venture elsewhere to play golf. My wife and I played a course in Oceanside called Arrowood, 10 miles inland off Hwy. 76, on the back side of Camp Pendleton. A very nice track with nice greens, lots of elevation changes, wide fairways and challenging holes to test every club in your bag. Some of us played it long ago when there were no houses around it now it reminds me of Mission Viejo. Anyway, our playing partners said they went on UnderPar.com and got 2 rounds for $38 each. We had paid $70 and that was a reduced rate. I went on the website, found the course, and two days later we played for $38. each and they have deals like this to hit it, find it, and hit it again all over SoCal, especially in No. San Diego county.
