GM Report As our 2017 season comes to an end, I want to thank you all for participating and supporting so many of the events and tournaments we put on at the club.

2 GM Report As our 2017 season comes to an end, I want to thank you all for participating and supporting so many of the events and tournaments we put on at the club. We did not have our best weather year, but we had a wonderful season of memories and we hope you were able to enjoy the club. Our board of directors will meet over Columbus Day weekend for the final Board Meeting of Thank you to all our Board Members and Committees for your dedication and support throughout the 2017 season. Please look below at our committee chairs for the upcoming 2018 season. The list of all Committee Members is available on the web portal. Seth Assistant GM Report Fall is in the air, and my thoughts have begun to turn to cooler temperatures, pumpkins, and the upcoming holidays. Even though summer is over, I hope that you will continue to take advantage of your Club and this beautiful Indian summer we have been experiencing! With the end of our fiscal year approaching, I would like to once again remind everyone of their annual food minimum. The minimum is $400 in food purchases, which must be met by October 28, If you are a true single and have been a member for at least 15 years, then your minimum is $200. The fall menu has many seasonal items to choose from, so come and enjoy time with family and friends. If you have any questions about this, please let me know. In October, we begin collecting contributions for our Employee Holiday Fund. Contributing to this fund is an easy way for all members to say Thank you! to our dedicated staff members, both seen and unseen, for all of their hard work throughout the year. The contribution form will be mailed out later this month. For our members who are snowbirds and fly south for the winter, I hope your homes survived the recent battery of storms without much damage. We look forward to seeing you back on the mountain next spring. For those of us who stay in the beautiful mountains of Pennsylvania, the leaves are beginning to change and we will be rewarded with the picturesque views that abound. Enjoy your October! Columbus weekend we will be featuring a Thanksgiving Turkey comfort plated dinner on Friday, October 6th and on Saturday, October 7th we will feature a Dinner buffet as well as weekend drink features. Please refer to our calendar for October s clubhouse hours. Remember that we are now out of jacket season so the dress is resort casual. Please try to adhere to your dinner reservation times as you gather to reminisce with friends. We are always looking for new ideas and suggestions so if there is something that you would like us to consider there is a suggestion box at the end of the bar. We are taking reservations for holiday parties, meetings and family gatherings so be sure to call early with your date! As always, I will be stopping by your table to make sure you are having a great dining experience. Have a great October. 5 GOLF October Shop Hours Shop Closes October 22 Everyday 8AM-5PM Golf Committee Notes: Thank you to all of our members for making this season a winner. We have so many great things to celebrate, including the ribbon cutting at the new pro shop, a fantastic tournament schedule, excellent participation in our junior events, and course conditions that have been outstanding, despite the weather challenges that Mother Nature threw our way. Kudos to Don Keefer and his team, who make our on-course experience so positive. The golf committee would like to recognize the outstanding work of the pro shop staff. These folks have done an excellent job keeping clubs clean and stored during the year, preparing carts, and organizing tournaments. Please show them your appreciation before the end of the season. The Member-Guest and Member-Member events were clearly highlights. The Junior Golf program was again a shining star, with fantastic participation in all of our junior activities. The awards ceremony on Labor Day weekend was supported well by the membership. Congratulations to all of our golfers who took home awards. Rule of the Month In match play, a player is doubtful of his rights and announces that he will play a second ball. He declares which ball he would score with if the Rules permit, plays the second ball, and completes the hole with both balls. His opponent makes a claim before anyone tees off on the next hole. CORRECT ANSWER The player has played a wrong ball with a loss-of-hole penalty. Explanation: A player may not play a second ball in match play if he is doubtful of his rights. A second ball is a wrong ball in match play. Since a valid claim was made, the player loses the hole. Rounds this season were unfortunately down as compared to the past two seasons, much of that due to rainy weather, particularly in springtime. Pace of play remained good in 2017, and Seth s management and leadership allowed our golf organization to keep expenses on budget, even with unplanned expenses related to the new pro shop. Our cart fleet, which is always difficult to maintain due to our limited amount of improved cart paths, held up relatively well, and we will continue our regular schedule of replacement by turning over roughly 10 carts for the coming season. Note that closing day for the pro shop is October 22nd. Please be sure to post all of your scores throughout the winter months, so that handicaps remain accurate. Frank Schetroma, our Handicap Chair, will continue to monitor handicap accuracy. With the on-line option, it is easier than ever to post scores electronically, thus keeping handicaps up to date and allowing golfers to enter scores from anywhere. Please take a moment to thank the members of your Golf Committee. They volunteer time, energy and insight to help EMCC offer a top notch golf program, and I am truly grateful for their efforts. The committee members for 2017 were Linda Easton, Mark Farrell, Scott Fletcher, Lewis Leibowitz, Rodd Melzer, Scott Repke, Steve Ryan, Steve Wilds, Katrina Wilkins and Handicap Chair Frank Schetroma. Thank you all for your support and for making 2017 a great golf season at EMCC. Enjoy the beautiful fall foliage here in Sullivan County and particularly at EMCC. As always, please be mindful of frost throughout the fall. Golfers should refrain from play until frost has thawed, as walking on frosty turf can permanently damage the grass, and especially the greens. If there is a question of whether frost is an issue, please err on the side of caution. We look forward to seeing you on the course in the spring, and don t forget to make those last minute holiday gift purchases in the pro shop prior to closing. Casual dress (tasteful denim) is acceptable every Friday night. After Labor Day Weekend, Sport Jackets will not be required in the Dining Room on Saturday Nights for Dinner. It is so important that you find your trigger for the golf swing. While playing a round of golf you must have a trigger that helps remind you of what helps your golf swing perform at its best. Rehearsal on the golf course of your trigger motion or thought can be a very successful thing as it adds positive repetition to your swing. A trigger is one simple motion or swing thought that can bring you back to basics and fundamentals that create your best approach. I often see golfers on the course searching for what it is they are doing wrong or trying to make different changes to the swing. This can be a very bad thing as it focuses on the negatives and does not bring and positive repetition to the swing. Use the driving range to help you develop your trigger and only focus on the positives while playing a round! Good Luck, Seth
