However, some hearty souls have still been out golfing. Let s hope November provides us with better golfing weather. Although Kevin and Brandon will not be working after November 11 th this year, Dave will keep the pro shop open until the 15 th. The course, and carts, will be available until the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, weather permitting. The House has now shifted to winter hours. The hours are posted elsewhere in this newsletter. However, between now and Thanksgiving, additional hours will be added depending on weather conditions. 2 Continued from Page 1 Message from the President: November 2018 We had many new members join EACC this year. Thank you to all new members for joining and thank you to the current members for making them feel so welcome. It s always nice to see new faces along with our regulars!! We hope you enjoyed your first year with us and will enjoy our beautiful club and course for many years to come. Current golf membership is 237 compared with 231 at this time last year, 221 in 2016, and only 212 in October, Obviously, the upward trend is very positive. However, retaining our members and adding new ones must remain a priority for us. Please contact Dave Jones, our head professional, if you know someone whom you feel would be interested in joining EACC. Congratulations to the three new directors who were just elected to the EACC Board: Kevin Rozo, Ann Woloszynski and Jon Zach. Each one will bring their personal experience, intelligence and perspective to the Board, to the benefit of our Club. I wish all of our snowbird members an enjoyable time away this winter and look forward to their return. And to everyone staying in the area, I hope to see you at the Club for the many fine opportunities to have a drink and a bite to eat with your friends. Wine down Wednesdays will continue to happen too! In closing, I d like to thank Frankie for her 6 years of fine service to members and guests at EACC. I wish her well in her new endeavor and I know that all of the members share in those good wishes too. She will be missed. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! 4 House News Fall fell over night it seems here at the EACC. It was extra wet, cloudy, and cold this past month. That didn't deter some of the die hard golfers I've seen toughing it out to get one last round in. Kudos to our seasoned golfers! October was a bittersweet month for us in the house. Patrick has gone on leave until April for shoulder surgery and recovery. Ashley is moving to Colorado for the winter to work at a ski resort, but will be back in the spring. Lastly, Francesca has left the EACC to pursue a different career path. From the moment we first started working together until her last shift here, she gave 100% every day, and made sure everything ran smoothly and properly. She was a tremendous asset to me and the house during this transitional year, and we will miss her very much. We wish them all the best in the world. November is shaping up to be a busy month for the clubhouse. First we have the Fall cigar night on November 8. We will be featuring hand rolled custom cigars, a bourbon tasting, whiskey specials, and a great buffet. Seating is limited for this event, call now to reserve your spot. The weekend after that is the President's Ball. This is our premier event of the year, and a great night to dress to the nines and have fun. There's limited seating available for this event as well, call now to reserve your spot. It's sure to be an amazing evening and we can't wait. Finally, plan ahead for "Breakfast with Santa" on Saturday, December 1, from 10:00am-2:00pm. Make reservations now to enjoy a great breakfast and a chance to meet Santa to start the holiday season. Speaking of the holidays, if you are thinking of having a Holiday party at the EACC, call soon because prime dates are filling up fast. We can cater to any specifications to make your event special and will work with any budget. The new menus are in full swing, be sure to check your s to get a glimpse at our weekly specials. We don t want to see anyone miss out! Our season long match play knockout tournaments are all wrapped up. Mark Melas was the 2018 Directors Cup Champion, and the ABC results are as follows: A Flight SeanSchoenborn B Flight MarkMelas C Flight Dennis Seeley We held the annual John Edward SWAT on October 20 th. The field boasted 21 players that braved the conditions. (Many of the players in the field had their first experience putting through hail!) Everyone involved had a fantastic time and enjoyed playing with some members they might not had the chance to play with during the summer months. Paul O Brien, John Cartus & Paul Dugas were victorious, shooting a 67 (MOC) to win. Thanks everyone for coming out! We will once again run a Christmas sale this holiday season. There will be great deals on remaining merchandise as well as drinks and a cheese platter. Cash or credit card is preferable. However, member charge will be available. The date of the sale is to be determined, but keep it in the back of your mind! The golf course will remain open until November 15 th. If there is any decent weather after this date, I will come in as needed until Tuesday November 20 th. I look forward to seeing everyone throughout the winter months. 6 Grounds With Drew It s that time of year when we put the golf course to bed for its winters nap. Removing golf course accessories, winterization of the comfort stations and irrigation system, final mowing and plant protectant applications and of course leaf clean up. The leaves are being a bit stubborn this season and are just now starting to fall. The recent wet weather is making it difficult for us to get out and clean things up. Most of what we are doing now is hand work. We are hoping for some dry weather before the snow flies to get the heavy equipment out and do a thorough clean up. Of course, that requires the leaves to fall so we are trying to be patient to avoid any equipment damage to the course. Let s hope we get some dry before the snow flies. It has been another good season on the course and we are already looking forward to and planning for the 2019 season. Our winter work will be communicated at the annual meeting in December. Also, the Grounds Holiday Open House is scheduled for Thursday, December 20 th. We look forward to seeing everyone there!! See you on the course! Drew Thompson, CGCS 6

7 18 Hole Golf News November 2018 Well, it s that time of year. The winding down of golf. I know a few hardy souls will be out there playing but many will head south while the rest of us will likely head to the golf domes. November is a time of thankfulness and I am thankful that I have a great team of ladies helping out to run our group next year. Doris Brand (co-chair), Marilyn Marky (treasurer), Deb Ruschmann (weekly games and a lot more), and Denise Tait (ringers). Our 2019 calendar is all set and has been submitted. Work on next year s budget is underway. An 18-hole contact sheet that will provide s/cell phones for our group will be sent when complete. This should help when looking to find a partner to play in events or wanting to set up a game during the golf season. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! What does November have in store for us? Is it time to put the clubs away for the year? Hard to say. One thing we can be sure of there are still plenty of chances to meet with friends for a cocktail and a delicious meal in the Club Dining Room or Bar. To Heck with the weather, we can still have fun! 10 IJM Update November 2018 After a couple of meetings immediately after the tournament, the IJM Committee has taken some time off to re-energize for next year s event. Rest time is now over. The 67 th International Junior Masters is less than eight months away and the committee is looking to get started for With that in mind we are holding our first organizational meeting on November 14 at 6:30. We are always looking for new people to add to our ranks so if you have not been involved before and are curious, please plan on attending. The IJM Committees are spread across many areas Player Development, Finance/ Sponsorship, Ham Am, Housing and Hospitality, Media/Publicity, Tournament Operations and our newly formed Social Media group. We could use some assistance in all areas so members are encouraged to come to the meeting and learn how you can be of assistance. Hope to see some new faces at the meeting!
