Message from the President Continued from Page 1 As previously informed, EACC has transitioned to Club Prophet, our new Golf Club Management System. We are pleased to announce that effective August 1 our members will be able to view their Monthly Statement on line, our Member Directory, the 2017 Course Master Plan Video Presentation by Ian Andrew, Past Presentations and the EACC By-Laws. In May the Board of Directors sent out a survey requesting updated information from all members. We have been actively updating our website and now display a Member Login on the right side of the main navigation. Members at the main account level, those individuals whose name appear on the monthly statement, can login using the address provided in the survey and a default password of eacc2017. We recommend using the My Account > Edit Profile option to change your password. If you did not respond to the survey in May, you should Sally at sally@eastauroracc.com to get your profile updated with the correct information. I would like to recognize Matt Hasselback for his expertise, effort and commitment to make the EACC Website and Club Prophet integration successful. The EACC Website and Member Portal is a valuable communication tool that not only serves the needs of our membership but also is a means to market EACC to potential new members. Our current membership count through the end of July stands at 228, compared to July 2016 of 220 and July 2015 of 207. A new Fall Membership Initiation is being created, so please have potential prospects contact David Jones, our Golf Professional. The Board has been diligently working on our search for a new House Manager. A professional Ad has been created and posted on professional web sites. Doug Marky and Frank Trzepkowski are in the process of contacting individuals that represent a broad base of our membership to be part of their Hiring committee. We understand the importance of filling the House Manager position in a timely manner and are taking all efforts to accomplish a successful search. As a Board we have been working closely with Chef Steve, Pat and Frankie, who have taken on the initiative to manage and handle all of the House responsibilities. The Board would like to personally thank them for their efforts and commitment during this challenging transition. Dave and Drew have also extended their help to assist the House with their managerial assistance as we go through the search process. The Board would like to again thank you for your cooperation and support as we manage and progress through this process. Rudy Ruschmann, President We d like to take this opportunity to welcome the following new members to the EACC family. Please do all you can to make them feel the special connection to EACC that we ve come to expect! Caleb Stewart (Sophomore) Alex Bergmann (Junior) Robert Stewart (Sophomore) Alex Zach (Sophomore) Michael Rudzinski (Sophomore) Kathleen Shafer (House) 2
News from the Golf Shop: July has seemed to have come and gone in the golf shop. It feels like just yesterday we were enjoying the July 4 th weekend and all of a sudden, we are moving into August. How time flies in the heat of the season! Junior Golf started on the first day of July and runs through most of August. Participation is through the roof and everyone seems to be having a great time while learning about the game of golf. Independence Day weekend wrapped up on Tuesday, July 4 th with one of the flagship socials of the year. Everyone was dressed in red, white and blue and brought their A games. Ron & Karen Olson along with Bob Liebler & Doris Brand came out victorious with a score of 131. Great playing! July 11 th & 12 th brought us the always popular (and always competitive) Ladies Member-Member tournament. Nine teams vied for the title and the weather pushed our day two back another week, but we eventually got it in! Congratulations to Charmaine Kaes & Doris Brand who shot a two day ringer score of 54. The flagship men s event of the season was July 21 st & 22 nd, East Aurora Country Club s 62 nd Men s Invitational. What an incredible turnout and event we had, even after the 2 of rain during the practice rounds tried to dampen the spirits. Fantastic golf was played and the camaraderie of the club shined bright. Our Overall Champions were new member Ryan Ratajczak & guest Glenn Beecroft. Our Overall Runners-Up were Dennis Seeley & guest Claude Carmen. The flight winners are as follows: Turnberry Scott Eden & Tom Feeley Muirfield Jeff Pappalardo & Mike Foster Carnoustie Rich Birdd & Len Rauch Royal Troon Jay Hoagland & Andrew Hoagland Prestwick Dennis Woloszynski & Don Kruczek Royal Birkdale Jeff Rosser & Dick Blaszkiewicz St. Andrews Allan DePew & Don Armenia Our Ladies Invitational quickly followed and it was a huge success. We had 20 teams participate which was by far the best in recent memory. Big congratulations to Lori Potter & guest Kim Kaul who shot a two-day ringer score of 60 to win the Invitational. Our Overall Gross Winners were Molly Zittel & guest Val Holmes who shot 76. Flight winners are as follows: Berg Kathy Lentz & Pat Schultz 61 Zaharias Deb Ruschmann & Linda LeClaire 62 (MOC) Finally, our member tournaments wrapped up with the Mr. and Mrs. Club Championship. It was a day of perfect weather and a fun format. Your winners at the end of the day were Mr. and Mrs. Lyons. They had an 81. Our ever-popular August Lobster Stag is slated for the 23 rd and is currently sold out. Please call the golf shop if you are interested in being on the waiting list. Be sure to call the shop to sign up for all of our August events as they will fill up fast (Club Championships, Social Golf, Rock n Roll Social, Senior Invitational, etc.) Our Past President s Day is Saturday August 19 th and Club Championship weekend is the 12 th & 13 th. Also, a reminder that we will be aerifying greens on Monday August 21 st. Dave 3
Clubhouse News Hello all! What a bustling July we have had! After the IJM in June, we rolled straight into our Men s Invitational followed by the Ladies Invite. We have received many compliments on the running and executing of both events. Thank you to the players, supporters, and volunteers who helped make these events possible. As we begin August, we show no sign of slowing down! The Ladies 18 & 9 Hole Mixer takes place August 10th, followed by Past President s Day on the 19th, Lobster Stag on the 23rd (already SOLD OUT), and of course ending the month on the 26th with the Outdoor Summer Bash. Keep an eye out as we will be sending updates about event specifics as we move forward. Furthermore, we are working with David to make sure our online calendar is up-to-date with clubhouse hours and events. From Chef Steve: I am working on implementing innovative ideas to better serve you! We would like to end our first announcement with words of appreciation. The transition in the Clubhouse has been all the easier because of the support and encouragement from our members. Thank you for your kind words; they are very much appreciated. To our house & kitchen staff, we thank you for your time and dedication to the club. We would not be able to keep the wheels turning if we didn't have such an amazing staff. We are grateful that we are surrounded by such a marvelous team and members. Thank you all! Grounds With Drew It s a busy time on the course and things are starting to take shape with some of our renovations. The forward tees are roughed in and if the weather will start to cooperate we hope to pick up the pace on this project in the coming week. We have also begun the process of expanding our collars around certain greens and expanding fairways in line with the master plan. You will see more of this in the coming year and we are excited to push forward with these low cost high impact changes. I d like to thank everyone that participated in the Invitational and to David and his Staff as well as Frankie, Steve and Patrick for a great event. I would like to give a special thanks to the entire grounds crew for stepping up and dealing with a substantial storm on Thursday afternoon. Without hesitation, they all stuck around and put the course back together in short order. We are excited for the remainder of the season. A quick reminder that greens Aeration is scheduled for Monday August 21 st. We hope to complete the process in short order and heal things up quickly. Thanks for your patience during this very important process. See you on the Course Drew Thompson, CGCS Chef Steve, Francesca, and Patrick -Your Clubhouse Team 4
18 HOLE GOLF NEWS Here it is already the end of July and the rain hasn't found a better place to fall yet. However, we did manage to complete our Member/Member tournament with the cooperation of everyone involved. The results of the Member/Member are as follows: 1st Place Charmaine Kaes and Doris Brand 54 2nd Place Marilyn Marky & Mary Hinners 57 3rd Place Anne Szymanski & Georgia Rosenthal 59 4th Place Carol Gay & Peggy Beers 60 (match of cards) Chipping Contest Winner: Judith Babbitt Closest to the Pin #2 Anne Szymanski Closest to the Pin #15 Charmaine Kaes Winner of the $100 Pro Shop Gift Certificate Maureen Majewski Congratulations to all of the winners and a big thank you to all of you who participated. Our thanks go out to Chef Steve, Patrick, Frankie and their staff for the wonderful food and service they provided us with over the 3 days we were there, and also to Patrick for the wine we enjoyed during the rainstorm. Thank you to David, Kevin and Brandon and their staff for working so hard to set everything up and their efforts to make this a memorable event. ( Maureen Majewski especially thanks you)!!! And last but not least, thank you to Drew and Kay for our beautiful golf course. Your hard work is appreciated by all who are lucky enough to be part of this Club. Thank you Kay for the flowers you provided for us. The Club Championship is coming up on the 12th and 13th. This is a fun time with a number of categories to be won on a net score basis. Hope to see a lot of you participating. The Friendship tournament is being held on August 22 at Wanakah. The sign up sheet will be in the Locker Room. Also, please mark your calendars for the Closing Luncheon on September 26th....Rain, rain go away - come again another day... Charmaine Kaes, 18 Hole Chair 5
Women s 9-Hole League: August, 2017 Hard to believe how the season is flying by. We have been excited to add some golf mini-clinics with Brandon especially for our 9 hole league members. The Drive mini-clinic was very helpful! There are two remaining: August 24 th and a to be announced September date. One will be on putting and the other on chipping. The cost is $10 and members can sign up in the pro shop the week before the clinic. This month will also bring us our rescheduled 9 & 18 hole Bosom Buddy fundraiser/mixer on August 10 th (remember to wear PINK!) and Guest Day on August 17 th. Encourage your 18 hole friends to sign up and please add your name to the Guest Day Sign Up Sheet in the Ladies Locker room. We hope to see everyone at these fun events! Caryn, Carol and Donna, Co-chairs MULLIGANS NEWS The Third Annual Mulligans Championship, a two-day affair, was held on July 7 th and July 14 th. Poor weather conditions on the 7 th held down the field of players and therefore limited the number who could compete for the overall title on the 14 th. There were some surprise early leaders after the opening day. However, when the final round was included Golf Chairman Phil Kadet presented on July 19 th a more believable trio of winners. In 3 rd place was Paul Schlee. In 2 nd place Gene Lavis and in 1 st place this year s champion was Paul Babbitt. All were awarded unheard of sums of prize money! (Unheard of for the Mulligans). Past champions in 2015 and 2016 were Dick Westermeier and Gene Lavis. Our attention to special events now turns to the annual picnic to be held at O Brien s Sleepy Hollow on August 24 th. In addition to encouraging all current Mulligans to attend with their spouses and guests, former Mulligans and their guests will also be invited. Attendance usually reaches about 90 persons and we are anticipating another strong turnout again this year. Jim Aston, Mulligans Secretary and Historian 6
Associate Board News Hello Everyone!! I hope we are all taking advantage of our gorgeous golf course when the weather permits it. The summer is moving along swiftly and every day should be taken advantage of! The Associates Board is looking forward to discussing and doing some small updates in the ladies lounge and locker room. We also are going to try to chat about some upcoming fall activities. If there is anything that you would like to see as an upcoming activity, please feel free to approach any of the Associates Board members. For Now Keep on golfing! Jennifer Dean Associates Board President 7
