1 EMGA Update 29 June 2017 No The fourth of July is about freedom, family, and fun Tournament Update It was another great day on the course and we hope you all had fun. The results are provided later in this update We still need to work on our Pace of Play. With the large turn outs we are having this year, very few holes are open; so just one person in a group can slow down ALL the other players in the field. If we cannot get everyone to work together to keep up our pace, then we are going to have to start penalizing players. We do not want to do this, but people join the EMGA to have fun playing golf in friendly competition. Slow play is THE #1 reason people leave the EMGA. Remember, it is not where the group behind you is. If the group in front of you is already off the green when you get to the tee box, you are behind. The sign-up sheet for the next Tournament is in the book in the Senior Men's Locker Room. This is our annual Member-Member Tournament of July 13th. The format is a 2-man best ball where you both play your own balls from tee to cup. As this is a team event, it is important that you sign-in at the snack bar before we close the books at 0730 on the 13th. After that we will be readjusting teams to fill in any holes from no-shows and unfortunately you will not be allowed to play. Your Tournament Committee (d-eknight@comcast.net) 1

2 Open Play/Open Play Competition There was an adjustment to flight 3 scoring in last week s OPC. Revised standings are shown below. Rick Shlegel (noblefly414@gmail.com) OPC Committee Member Home & Away This week we played the Home end of the Home and Away event with Black Bear. We ended up in a straight up tie with them at the Eisenhower Golf Course (10.5 to 10.5 points). The team of Tony Goodman and Mike Knaub won first place with a team best ball net score of 63. This won them $40 each in pro shop credit. Second place went to the team of Bill Ebersohl and Dale Hendrickson got second place with a score of 64 for $20 each in pro shop credit. The team of Larry Arkfeld and John Horsman, with a score of 65, took third place for a prize of $10 each in pro shop credit. There were 12 skins, each worth $11 in cash. EMGA winners of skins included the following: Fred Steffers with a skin on #11; Tony Goodman with skins on #2, #5, #14, and #17; John Weidner with a skin on #1; Don Brown with a skin on #15, and Dale Hendrickson with a skin on #7. In the overall Home and Away match with Black Bear, the EMGA side came out with the bragging rights with a total overall score of 22 to 20 points. This is the third call for players for the Colorado Springs Country Club Home and Away event. Currently on the team are the following: Larry Arkfeld, Russ Baker, Don Brown, Ron Fortin, Tony Goodman, Joe Hampton, John Hayes, John Horsman, Mike Knaub, Clif Moore, Tom O'Brien, Bob Peterson, Fred Steffers, Steve Turner, and John Weidner. We are still one player short. We will be playing at the Colorado Springs Country Club on Thursday, 6 July and at home on the following Tuesday, 11 July. We have a shotgun start at the Colorado Springs Country Club at 8:30, so show up and check in at their pro shop well before that. We will be wearing Red shirts for our Away match. At Home on Tuesday, 11 July, we will wear white shirts. We will have a 9:30 shotgun start, so show up to check in at the Falcon's Nest around 8:30. We have a team picked out for the Home and Away event with Perry Park Country Club. We play at home on Monday, 17 July and at Perry Park on Tuesday, 18 July. We will again wear white shirts at home, and this time we will wear Blue shirts for the Away event. We will have our normal 8:00 shotgun start, so show up around 7:00 in the Falcon's Nest to check in, get into the skins game, and have a coffee and/or juice and danish.
