1 SCORECARD August 2018 VOLUME 23, ISSUE 9 President s Message Presidents Message With summer winding down and the days getting shorter, we had our first Horse Race on Thursday Aug. 23 rd after work at 6:00 pm. In order to test this format, we decided to have only 20 players and it went a lot faster than we anticipated. The first hole only took about 14 minutes. We slowed it down a little on 2 and we played a total of 5 holes. After the race, many of the guys went on to play the rest of the front nine. Congrats to Terry Robuck and Joel Harriet for winning our first Horse Race. They both walked away with fifty dollars. Thanks go out to the course and Brian Reed for helping us to put this together. There has also been an extra tournament added to our schedule this month. Saturday, Sept. 29 th at 10:00 am we will have a limited field tournament of 40 players teeing up at Sandpiper. Sandpiper is known as the Poor Man s Pebble Beach, which is located above Santa Barbara and has 5 holes overlooking the ocean, plus a par three green right on the sand. Cost will be $120 - so mark your calendars and signup early as this will fill-up fast. Normal rate on a weekend with cart is $205. Many thanks go to John Van Diepen for putting this together for an exceptional price. Everyone will pay before or the day of the tournament by either check or cash. Signup only on LA Golf as there will be no paying for the tournament online.
