We paid out over $7, of you cashed, with 17 taking home over $200. Congrats also to those who did well at the tables it s always good to go home with more than you came with. This year marks the last year of Gary Roehrig running the Getaway. For 21 years he has done an outstanding job with this event. There is a lot of money changing hands here, and the board has always appreciated Gary s integrity, as shown by his attention to detail, transparency, and detailed accounting of the finances. At the dinner party, we presented Gary with a plaque of appreciation, as well as a couple St Louis Cardinals items for his wardrobe. As announced at the dinner, Boone Barrow is our new Getaway leader. He shadowed Gary for much of the weekend and is already planning for next year on May 2-4, Boone will also be looking at other destinations for 2020, so be sure to let him know what your preferences are. At the Getaway, several members had issues posting scores on the golf course computers. This can all be avoided if you download the GHIN App for your smartphone or ipad. Once you enter your GHIN number and favorite courses, posting becomes simple, and you ll have no excuse for not posting immediately after your round. We send get well wishes to Paul Gray, who had quadruple bypass surgery, and is now resting at home. For those playing in the sold-out Summer Golf League, remember to post your 9hole scores! I want to express my appreciation to Greg Entrup, who retired from the golf course this month. Greg has been an active member and served on the board for many years before going to work at the course. I have always appreciated his honesty, guidance, and stories. We wish him well as he builds a new house in Southern Utah. Like his future neighbor Tom Nicolai, we hope he makes the occasional trip back to El Prado to say hello and take our money. 2 Tournament News Two-Man Modied Pinehurst We had a nice turnout of 66 players for the 2 man Modified Pinehurst. I hope everyone had a good time and played well. The weather was cool with the May gray skies. No complaining here, I hope we continue to have cool weather thru the June gloom. It will get hot soon enough. The course continues to improve under the current course management. I noticed a big improvement in the bunkers on Chino Creek. You actually have to play them like normal sand instead of hard pan. It can take a little getting used to. We had some good scores in both flights with the low 60 s taking first place. Cole/Dancses took the A flight with a 60 and Lizarraga/Esparza took the B flight with a 63. I did not hear any major complaints so I guess you all like this format. Next month we will have a 2 man Scramble. This is another chance with a different format for you to take the first place honors. I hope to see an even bigger turnout. Paul Gray, get well soon. Please tell him goodbye and thanks for all of his help with tournaments and club events. As a long time member and fellow player we are going to miss him. Thanks to Kevin for the fine work on the scoreboard again. He prints so well that everything is readable in the pictures. When I jump in and help, it does not come out looking so well.
