1 KEY BOX CHALLENGE Objective: To exhibit best practices in customer service as it relates to key management. Competition: Each of the four members of the team will complete the key jumble testing their individual skills in key management. This competition is individually timed and the best competitor s time will be the team s final time. Team Separation: All teams will be in a holding tank out of view of the open podium. Teams will be escorted from the holding tank to the competition area to compete. Once a team is finished with their part of the competition, they must be escorted to a sight which is also away from upcoming teams and the competition sight. Any teams or team members relaying any information back to anyone that has not completed the competition will be disqualified from the event. To ensure competition integrity, all athletes are required to turn their cellphones into the head judging table or to their team coach/owner before the event kicks-off. Equipment Needed: 1. Podium with 100 Key Hooks and lock. You can use a key box if necessary sets of keys, keys should be of different vehicle makes. 3. NO VEHICLES are needed for this event Stopwatches for the Judges. Judges: 1. Three judges are needed for this event 2. 2 judges are needed with a stop watch judge at the podium to verify key and placement accuracy (this judge is also responsible for ensuring consistent podium set-up for athletes). 4. This event can be run while other events are taking place. Set-Up: 1. Podium will have all of the keys hung on specific hooks with logos facing the wall. The door of the podium must be closed and locked at the beginning of the event. 2. The judge will be holding the eight corresponding parking tickets and the podium key. The contestant will be placed 20 feet away from the key box. 3. After each contestant has completed the event, they need to be kept separate from their other team members as we do not want contestants sharing information to team members that have not attempted the event. 4. All teams who have not yet competed in this event will also need to be out of sight of this competition. Rules: 1. Each team member will turn cellphone into Head Judge or to Team Coach/Owner before the start of the event. 2. Each member of team will compete in the event; the lowest score out of four will be recorded as the team score for the qualifying round.

2 3. The start of the competition is marked by the judge handing the parking tickets and podium key (or card with the lock combination) to the contestant. At this point, the stopwatches are started and the contestant can proceed to the key box. 4. The contestant must match all of the keys hanging inside of the key box with their corresponding parking ticket and the keys and tickets must be hung matching the ticket number to the corresponding hook number inside of the key box. Contestants are NOT permitted to attach parking tickets to the key or key ring. This will only cause damage to the parking tickets and delay the event. Each team will have their own set of tickets to use for the event. If the ticket becomes damaged due to negligence, their team must work through that challenge. 5. The clock will be stopped once the contest crosses back over the original start line. 6. All times will be taken in Minutes, Seconds, & Milliseconds. 7. Each contestant will need to understand that there are older model keys that may be part of this competition. This will be important to remember for this event. Penalties. Penalties will be applied for the following infractions. Each improperly identified key and parking ticket will result in a 5 second penalty. If keys/numbered tickets are not hung on the corresponding numbered key hook, a 10 second penalty will be added for each error. If the contestant fails to close and look the key box, a 10 second penalty will be assessed. No equipment modification allowed. Any willful act or breach of Olympic Protocol integrity according to the rules and regulations or a direct violation of fair play will be reviewed by judges. The head judges will assess the violation and assign appropriate repercussion to the team including added time violations up to disqualification.

The vehicle will remain exactly as it was parked by previous teammate and valet #2 will prepare to follow steps 1 thru After all valets are done the next team can then take the 2 minutes to reset the vehicle and adjust seat and mirrors. 12. Penalties. 60 second penalty for damage to the vehicle, curb, wall or any other part of the parking structure games are held at. 10 second penalty for each cone knocked down. Judges will replace knocked down cones when vehicle is safely out of way. 10 second penalty per mile over posted speed limit of 10 MPH 5 second penalty for each cone touched, judges will raise flag to signal a penalty and time keepers will record. 5 second penalty for failing to clear cones on either end of the course (entire vehicle must pass the line on the ground). Judges will note and alert timekeeper at end to record. Any deviation of course layout could result in disqualification. Any willful act or breach of Olympic Protocol integrity according to the rules and regulations or a direct violation of fair play will be reviewed by judges. The head judges will assess the violation and assign appropriate repercussion to the team including added time violations up to disqualification. Each team s final time is recorded by adding each valet individual time.
