2 Welcome Since 1981 Bucas merged a great Irish equestrian tradition with the latest technical developments and experience from other industries, countries and markets. This has resulted in the development of a wide range of highly innovative and technically advanced products. From the beginning we have exported more than 90% of our products to markets around the world. 2 In 1982, we produced the first high performance water resistant turnout rug. This was followed by the first fully waterproof and breathable rugs by the end of the eighties. We perfected the Stay-dry principle of using wicking linings that transport sweat and moisture away from the horse while the inside of the lining remains dry and keeps the horse warm. In the 1990s we developed the first truly lightweight, fully waterproof and breathable turnout for use at higher temperatures. We also developed the first of its kind, a sun/heat reflective rug with an aluminium lining, heat retentive layers and anti-bacterial lining. In 2000, we introduced the revolutionary Buzz- Off full body fly and UV protection rug. The outstanding overall performance and durability of this product is reflected in the strong customer approval and satisfaction. In 2012, Bucas introduced another revolution in the horse world with its Buzz-Off Zebra fly rug. This rug was designed based on the recent discovery that owing to the high contrast striping of zebras, they suffer little, if any, problem with the types of bothersome insects that are often the cause of great irritation and even infections suffered by horses. In 2014, Bucas launched a new Retail Portal for use for our trade customers to order through the Bucas.com trade app. We updated and rebuilt the main bucas.com website for our customers to get the information they needed and register their products for guarantee. In 2015, we patented and introduced an innovative magnetic Snap-lock fastening across our premium ranges, and in the same year Bucas introduced its first therapeutic horse rug, the Bucas Recuptex Therapy rug. This amazing rug enhances the horse s own natural system helping promote the relaxation and healing of the muscular system through improved blood circulation. 5 Power Turnout The Bucas Power Turnout range offers the best possible strength, durability and quality. It provides perfect comfort and protection at both lower and higher temperatures than other rugs of similar weight. The Power Turnout has a heat reflective aluminium inner coating and the sun reflective silver outer which extends the temperature range in which the Power Turnout can be used. It also comes with Stay-dry, Anti-Bacterial lining which means the rug can be put on a wet horse in the same way as a sweat rug. 25 Recuptex Therapy The Bucas Recuptex Therapy range helps to prevent numerous problems and also helps in the treatment of a vast array of ailments. The Recuptex material is made from an extremely fine, stainless steel mesh so it reflects the magnetic fields created inside the body. This in turn stimulates blood circulation and oxygen flow in the horse s body and back, which heals and reduces both swelling and inflammation and promotes faster healing. It can be left on your horse for 24 hours, 7 days a week if necessary as it is NOT a magnetic rug, but it is advised to slowly increase and monitor the use of the Recuptex Therapy rug when first used. Research has discovered that flies hate the Zebra stripes as they find them confusing and so steer clear of them! 29 The Buzz-Off Zebra Full Neck rug provides body and neck protection for the horse. The Buzz-Off Rain Zebra combines the Zebra Full Neck fly sheet with a waterproof upper to protect your horse. 40 Bucas Essentials 40 Rug Wash Bucas Rug Wash is ideal for use on waterproof and breathable rugs and fabric. For full guarantee on Bucas rugs, Bucas Rug Wash should only be used. This special phosphate-free wash is ideally suited for all waterproof and water repellent rugs as well as other articles of waterproof fabrics. Bucas Rug Wash is available in 250ml and 5 litre bottles. Bucas rugs should be hand washed or machine washed at a maximum of 40 degrees. Use 50ml for 4.5kg of dry washing or 25ml for 10 litres of water. Do not machine dry or spin dry. Dry flat or hang to dry at room temperature. Do not use fabric conditioner or other chemicals Stable Curtain The Bucas Stable Curtain offers a smart professional way to decorate your stables either at shows or at home. 41 Travel Boots 2000 Boots The Bucas 2000 Boots are made of tough outer nylon fabric and a Stay-dry inner lining. Cushioned padding so they will fully contour to the horse s leg. Four straps on the front boot and five on the rear boot. Elasticated top strap on hind boot for secure fit. The unique front boots close differently to normal traditional travel boots. The straps fasten forward, this means the boots close across the tendons leaving the back of the knee open, for ease of movement but covering the front of the knee to protect the joint from any bangs or injury while travelling. The Stay-dry lining helps to dry wet legs faster so by the time you finish your journey home and remove the travel boots your horse s legs will be dry and comfortable! To provide your horse with the optimal fit, comfort and protection that it deserves, it is important to select the most appropriate rug for your horse. When choosing a Bucas Rug, you must consider two factors: The measurement of the horse in relation to the size of rug that it needs The temperature range for which the rug you choose is most suited The following instructions outline a step-by-step approach to measuring your horse for a Bucas rug to provide an optimal fit, comfort and ease of movement. Bucas recommends that the horse be measured from (A) the centre point of the chest, over the high point of the shoulder, and then to (B) the rear of the hind leg. When you have the measurement, choose the nearest size from the table below, or admin@bucas.com and we can post a Bucas measure tape to you. Tips for Washing your Bucas Rug Before placing your Bucas rug into the washing machine, close all hook and loop straps as the rug can stick to it and any dirt that is in the machine will stick to it. Clip up any surcingles so that they are not left flapping around in the machine. If washing your Bucas cooler make sure to brush off any additional bedding or dirt off the rug, this will help the rug come out even cleaner! Don t wash your Bucas products over 40 C as this may cause the binding to shrink and effect the performance of your Bucas product! Make sure to use the Bucas Rug Wash for washing all your Bucas products. It s always advisable to reproof your waterproof rugs after washing. Keep your waterproof product functioning correctly by using Bucas Rug Conditioner after washing. If you have any small nicks or tears to your Bucas rug, we recommend using our Bucas repair kit. This kit will provide you with the necessary aids to repair these small tears. HOW TO EXTEND YOUR BUCAS WARRANTY 3EXTENDED WARRANTY Bucas offers a 2 year warranty against any manufacturing or material faults but you can extend it to 3 years on our Power and Smartex range of rugs. All you need is your proof of purchase, like your receipt and the details from the label on the rug. Your rug must be registered within 30 days of purchase.
