Bartlett Founder of The Bartlett-Hayward Company of Baltimore, Maryland, The company was founded in 840 as Hayward and Friend, stove manufacturers. The company eventually expanded into the foundry, machinery, erection, and engineering fields and began manufacture of gas holders in 876. Edward Bartlett contracted Ben Dye to make decoys exclusively for his private gun club on the Gunpowder Falls near Baltimore,. This one of the few remaining decoys known from the Bartlett original collection. C. 880.Decoy also retains the branded "F" for

RARE and IMPORTANT double branded Canvasback Drake with re-head by Ben Dye Perryville, (82-896) Decoy retains two brands: Disston for Henry Disston of Philadelphia, PA. Henry was the founder of Disston Saw Works, which at the time was the largest saw manufacturer in the world. Henry was known for gunning the Delaware River and quite conceivably contracted Ben Dye for a personal rig of birds. The importance of this bird is that it is also branded "R.Vandiver" for Robert Vandiver of the wealthy Vandiver Family of Havre de Grace,. The Family owned the famous Vandiver Inn on Union Ave in Havre de Grace. Redhead Drake by Ben Dye Perryville, (82-896) Branded "F" for Henry Fleckenstein s personal collection. Head has severe crack behind and through the neck. Important miniature carved standing full body Canada Goose by J. Milton Watson Chesapeake City, c940. In original paint on Mahogany base. The importance of this bird is that it was photographed and used by Henry Fleckenstein in his book Decoys of the Mid Atlantic This very bird can be seen on page 7 under the Susquehanna Flats Chapter.
