2 The Source Behind the Bullet Walt Berger s ideals and values are the foundation from which Berger Bullets operates. Walt began producing hand made bullets in 1955 because he knew that he could achieve better results. Walt used his bullets to shoot his way into the prestigious Bench Rest Hall of Fame. Over the decades, Walt has won local, Regional, National and World Championships. His success has earned him the recognition as a top bench rest shooter and a pioneer in precision bullet manufacturing. 4 Flat Base Boat Tail Flat base, Match Grade bullets are the staple for short range precision shooting. Our bullets feature a tangent ogive (nose) which is easy to tune quickly. If you can t get a Berger flat base bullet to shoot well in your rifle with minimal tuning, something is wrong with your rifle. Boat Tail, Match Grade bullets are made with a tangent ogive (nose) design, which is shorter and more similar to the other brands. Like the flat base, these bullets are very easy to tune. The boat tail gives them a slight advantage in the wind over the flat base bullet. High BC Flat Base Long Range Boat Tail High BC Flat Base, Match Grade bullets are made with the same secant ogive (nose) shape that is used on the VLD bullets, giving these shorter bullets a higher than normal BC (Ballistic Coefficient) for a flat base bullet. These are excellent bullets for high velocity varmint shooting in high and varying wind conditions. 4 Long Range Boat Tail, Match Grade bullets take the easy to tune, tangent ogive (nose) and lengthen it to the extreme, giving this bullet both a high BC and making it easy to tune. If you load your ammo to a COAL that allows it to feed through a magazine, the Long Range Boat Tail bullet will likely have a portion of the nose in the neck, which can produce poor performance. They are most successful in custom rifles with extra-long magazine boxes or when single fed so they can be seated to a longer than standard COAL (Cartridge Overall Length).

5 VLD Hybrid The VLD (Very Low Drag), Match Grade bullets feature a secant ogive (nose) which is proven to be the most efficient shape for the highest external ballistic performance. The length of the nose will impact the effectiveness of the overall bullet performance. VLDs are typically the highest BC bullets. They have a tendency to be sensitive to seating depth, but they can be tuned for ultimate precision. For instructions on tuning the VLD bullet in your rifle, refer to our website or loading manual. Classic Hunter From the mind of Bryan Litz, Hybrid, Match Grade bullets blend the best aspects of the tangent and secant nose shapes into one ogive (nose). It starts at the bearing surface with a tangent section that will align itself more effectively when the bullet contacts the rifling. Beyond this section, the shape transitions into a secant section which is proven to be more effective in the wind. The result is a high BC bullet that is easier to tune. Elite Hunter From the mind of Bryan Litz, Classic Hunter, Match Grade bullets are made with a specially designed Hybrid ogive (nose) that is short enough to comply with the limitations of SAAMI and CIP COAL standards. This means that these bullets are specifically designed to be loaded into ammo that will feed through a standard magazine and shoot well in factory rifles. From the mind of Bryan Litz, Elite Hunter, Match Grade bullets are made with the longest possible Hybrid ogive (nose). The long nose produces the highest possible BC, but it does not comply with the limitations of SAAMI and CIP COAL standards. This bullet is deliberately intended for hunters who use custom rifles and either have extended length magazines or single feed their ammo. 5
