2 League Round 01: Monday 09 January 2017 The new season commenced with 24 teams split between two Divisions. Because the Legion Bar and Bridge Hotel resigned from the league there were no teams relegated with two teams, Boldon Lad and Derby B being promoted. Unfortunately the league also lost the Mariner however gained three new teams, Green Baize B, Derby Arrows and welcome back the Jester who all start in Division Two. Division One champions Kennedys A were at home to the Steamboat and surprisingly found themselves 3-0 down after Chris Allen x20 (55), Brian Clifford x8 (16) and Chris Allen x16 (35) all finished. Kennedys pulled a couple of legs back as Jeff Gibson x8 (16) and Brian Abdou x10 (20) finished however another Chris Allen x16 (32) double had the Steamboat ahead 4-2. It was soon 5-2 after Derek Hardie x1 (2) beat Jeff Gibson. The scores however were soon level as Kennedys showed their class with Ernie Hudson x18 (36) beating Brian Clifford, Brian Abdou x1 (2) beating John Green and Derek Gibson x4 (8) beating James Lewis. Brian Booth s x19 (38) win against Stevie Armstrong put the Boat on the verge of a a shock in the season s opener and when Chris Allen (180) x12 (24) beat Norman Davison the Boat inflicted the first loss for the Kennedys lads since 2015 the score finishing Kennedys A 5 Steamboat 7. Chris Allen of the Steamboat hits 180 and four doubles to inflict first loss since 2015 for double winners Kennedys Westoe Bar, second last season hosted newly promoted Derby B. Paul Johnson x3 (6), Davey Barnes x2 (4), Paul Johnson x20 (60), Davey Barnes x4 (19), Micky Mizen x 2 (9) and Peter Bassett x20 (40) open up a 6-0 lead for the hosts with Keith Nicholson x5 (10) securing a quick victory as he beat Davey Boulter. Davey Barnes x20 (40) also won against Stevie Hale before Chris Hughes x16 (74) secured Derby B s first point when he beat Micky Mizen. The returning Dave Tully x11 (22) beat Mark Sleightholme with team-mate Paul Johnson x2 (4) also winning against Chris Allen to make it Stevie Buckett however won the last leg for the visitors as the score finished Westoe Bar 10 Derby B 2. Third placed Wouldhave travelled to Buzzers Sports Bar who find themselves still in the top flight for the new season. The visitors opened up a 6-0 lead as Warrick Rochester x4 (8), x11 (22), Kevin Brooks x1 (2), Davey Whitehead x6 (12), Warrick Rochester x4 (8) and Kevin Brooks x20 (40) all finished. Davey Whitehead x1 (2) then secured victory as he beat John Bird. Darren Franks x3 (6) then beat Davie Mochan to secure the hosts only point of the night as Warrick Rochester x4 (30) beat David Bell, Davey Richardson x20 (40) beat Liam Wasmuth, Peter Gotts x20 (72) beat James Main and Kevin Brooks x19 (38) beat Steven Walsh to make the final score Buzzers Sports Bar 1 Wouldhave 11. Westoe Room Originals travelled to Trimmers Arms following the latter s reprieve. Alain Tame x20 (40), x2 (4) and John Nielsen x1 (2) gave the visitors a 3-0 lead before Ken Wilson x18 (36) got the Trimmers on the scoresheet. John McManemy x20 (65) and Peter Buglass x2 (40) then made it 5-1 going into the singles. It was one-way traffic in the singles however as Alain tame x4 (76) beat Ken Wilson, Trevor Collins x1 (2) beat Willie Smyllie, John McManemy x2 (4) beat Carl Cairns, John Nielsen x4 (8) beat Chris Wilson, Peter Buglass x4 (8)

3 beat James Coffey and Dean Apes x5 (10) rounded it off when he beat Scott Young. The final score finished Trimmers Arms 1 Westoe Room Originals 11. Derby A played host to second division champions the Boldon Lad. The Lad went 2-0 up after Sean Cavanagh x9 (87) and Brian McKenna x1 (2) finished with Ali Sezer x11 (22) making it 2-1. Brian McKenna x2 (8) made it 3-1 however finished form Chris Coulson x4 (8) and Joe Clark x16 (32) levelled the scores heading into the singles. Carl Thoburn x1 (2) put the hosts ahead for the first time as he beat Eddie Gutteridge before Brian McKenna x20 (40) beat Martin Auty to level the scores. Wins for Gary Thorius x4 (8) against Paul Lambert Jr and Chris Coulson x16 (32) against Tommy Ward put the Derby in the box seat before an Ali Sezer x8 (16) win against Sean Cavanagh gave them victory. Phil Armstrong x15 (67) reduced the deficit when he beat Joe Clark as the score finished Derby A 7 Boldon Lad 5, the first league loss ever for the Lad in their second season in the league. The final Division One match pitted Vigilant Inn at home against Voyager B. Colin Gates x10 (20) gave the visitors a 1-0 lead before Alfie Maine x10 (40) levelled however finishes for Graham Patterson x4 (8), Colin gates x15 (30), Mark Cairns x20 (78) and Keegan Cairns x16 (32) put the Voyager firmly in control at 5-1. Alfie Maine x18 (73) and John Alderson x1 (2) made it 5-3 as they respectively beat Mick Purvis and Colin Gates before a Mark Cairns 75 on the bull win against Stan Elliott made it 6-3. Three straight wins however for the hosts levelled the scores as Bob Compton x18 (90) beat Rob Purvis, Billy Keenan x5 (10) beat Graham Patterson and Davy Graham x5 (27) beat Keegan Cairns to make the final score Vigilant Inn 6 Voyager B 6. Harley s Bar, third last season and possible favourites for promotion travelled to play hosts Voyager A. Brett Sykes x1 (2) gave them a 1-0 lead before Carson McKeith x5 (10) levelled however they were soon 5-1 to the good as Mark Harrison x16 (32), Chris Stephenson x20 (119), Mark Stephenson x4 (18) and Steven Adams x15 (30) finished. Chris Stephenson x12 (24) then made it 6-1 as he beat John McIlroy before Carson McKeith x20 (40) pulled a leg back with his win over Brett Sykes, Alfie Donaldson x1 made gave Harley s victory as he beat Liam Wardley before a Tony Mohammed x5 (20) win against Mark Stephenson made it 7-3. Wins for Mark Harrison (180) x20 (78) against Martin Goddard and Steven Adams x20 (40) against Lee McKeith made the final score Voyager A 3 Harley s Bar 9. County Hotel were hosts to new boys Derby Arrows and it was the latter who raced into a 5-0 lead after Jason Parker x20 (40), David Hayes Jr x6 (12), Jason Parker x1 (2), Donny Yorston x20 (65) and David Hayes Jr x6 (12) all finished. Stephen Gibson x18 (36) got the host first point in the final pairs leg. Alan Hoare x16 (32) made it 5-2 when he beat John Hayes however a Donny Yorston x2 (8) win against Ray Patrick made it 6-2. David Hayes Jr x16 (32) then secured the newcomers win as he beat Carl Costello to make it 7-2. The last three legs went the way of the hosts as Callum Costello x16 (32) beat Ryan Hebdon, Stephen Gibson x16 (32) beat Peter Ashcroft and Shaun Clements x8 (16) beat Jason Parker to make the final score County Hotel 5 Derby Arrows 7.

4 Green Baize A travelled to Morgans and leapt into a 4-0 advantage as Doug Fontaine x8 (32), Paul Ali x18 (36), Nick Taylor x10 (33) and Gavin Simpson Jr x8 (46) finished. Jamie McNaney x17 (34) made it 4-1 however a Doug Fontaine x9 (32) finish made it 5-1. Paul Gilmour x1 (2) pulled a leg back against Gavin Simpson Jr before Paul Ali x4 (8) made it 6-2. It was soon 6-4 after Jamie McNaney x11 (22) beat Karl Miller and Brian Mulvain x16 (62) beat Albert Watson however a Doug Fontaine x9 (32) win against Terry Power secured victory with team-mate Nick Taylor x3 (6) also winning against Liam Mulvain. The final score finished Morgans 4 Green Baize A 8. Red Hackle B hosted the New Mill. Mike Slight x10 (20) gave the Mill the lead however finishes from Stephen Jones x20 (57) and Ray Pearce x5 (10) gave the Hackle a 2-1 lead. Chris Bennett x20 (46) levelled matters before the hosts went 4-2 up as Steven Paul x10 920) and Ray Pearce x1 (2) replied. Chris Bennett x20 (51) pulled a leg back when he beat Micky Overend and team-mate Anth Allsopp x10 (20) levelled with his win over Stephen Jones. The hosts however restored their two-leg advantage as Steven Sams x10 (20) beat Sean Foster and Steven Paul x4 (8) beat David Farrell. Harton & Westoe Nomads were away to new boys Green Baize B. The hosts led 3-0 as Liam Pearce x10 (40), x20 (40) and Alan Neil x4 (8) finished, before Tommy Purvis x18 (36) got Nomad s first point. Anthony Lee x1 (2) and x1 (2) gave the hosts a 5-1 lead heading into the singles. Three straight legs for the Nomad s reduced the deficit to 5-4 as Tommy Purvis beat Ian Thompson, Eric Wetherill beat Liam Pearce and Billy Trump beat Mitchell Stubbs. Anthony Lee made it 6-4 when he beat David Smith however wins for Dave McDonald x8 (16) beat G Hardie and John Bennett x14 (38) beat Alan Neil. Steve Gray x1 (2) and Davie Johnson x4 (8) gave the hosts a 2-0 lead before the visitors won four straight as Alan Shaw x16 (32), Patrick Train x4 (8), Alan Shaw x2 (4) and Scott Cameron x10 (20) finished. Gary Douglass beat Dean Adamson to make it 5-2 however a Stewart Henderson x1 (2() win against Patrick Train made it 5-3. It was soon 6-3 after Freddie Dunn x4 (8) beat Davie Johnson and when Alan Shaw x2 (7) beat Kenny Gray the Jester had secured the win. Paul lambert Sr x18 (36) gave the Lad the early lead before finishes from Ernie Hudson x16 (52), Brian Abdou x20 (40) and Ernie Hudson x18 (36) gave the visitors a 3-1 advantage. Paul Lambert Jr x4 (32) reduced the deficit however Stevie Armstrong x10 (40) gave Kennedys a 4-2 advantage going into the singles. League Cup Preliminary Round: Monday 23 January 2017 Sixteen teams were drawn out in the preliminary round of the ORA Projects League Cup with the pick of the ties being the derby match between hosts Westoe Room Originals and the Westoe Bar. The Bar finished Division One runners-up last season with the Originals finishing in fourth place. Paul Johnson x1 (2) gave the Bar the early advantage before Trevor Collins x1 (4) levelled however finished by Peter Bassett x16 (32) and Chris Blacklock x1 (2) put them back in front. Alain Tame x18 (36) pulled a leg back however Peter Bassett x10 (20) made it 4-2 to the visitors to put them in a strong position heading into the singles. Trevor Collins x10 (20) made it 4-3 against the unlucky Keith Nicholson and John Neilson x2 (4) who played well all-night levelled against Chris Blacklock.
