Press Release Season Finale at Horseshoe Valley March 31 - April, The final event of the season took place at Horseshoe Valley Ski Resort in Craighurst, Ont. The weather thankfully changed from the rainy, overcast day on Friday to bright blue skies on both Saturday and Sunday with temps well above zero making the snow soft and track rough and challenging all weekend long. It would all come down to this weekend for our riders, some chasing a Championship, others a spot on the podium and for one it would be his last race. Ståle Eggen announced his retirement just prior to the weekend, catching a few off guard. Ståle has been with us for 3 full seasons now and has had such a positive impact on the team, from riders to mechanics to our sponsors and to the race circuit its self. Ståle became a great ambassador of the sport and will surely be missed. It was incredibly tough to see him ride for the last time Sunday afternoon, to witness the fans and fellow racers applaud, shake his hand and hug him after that one. We have made so many great memories together, while we will miss you, we will never forget you and what you have brought to our Family! It has been an absolute pleasure Ståle. Thank you! Congratulations on an amazing career! Here is what Ståle said leading in to the weekend. My last race for this season is coming up this weekend. It's also going to be my last race at the #csrachampionship because I have decided to retire my snowcross career after this weekend. I can't say it is an easy choice but I can't find a better place and a better team to retire with. Three seasons ago I signed up with Bailey Motorsports and that's the best thing that I could have done. Not only are Bailey Motorsports my race team but it is also my family. The Hunt Family have done so much for me that I don't know how I can say thanks for everything, I will miss you guys so much! All the team members have been working so good together and together we made this team grow bigger and bigger every season! I'm proud to say that I have been racing for #Baileymotorsports! A huge thanks to the sponsors that have been backing us up, it has been a pleasure to work with you guys! But not only have I been racing here, I have made lifelong memories and friendships! Without you guys it wouldn't have been as easy to been away from family and friends back home for this long. To all the people, sponsors, family and friends that have been helping me back home to be where I'm today, Thank you! Is has been a 15 years long, hell of a ride! I have meet so many good people that have been helping me that also been the reason why I'm, who I'm today, Thank you! And a special thanks to my Mom and Dad this would never have happened without the best and biggest support for you two! Thanks, Love you :) So it is time to open new doors in my life and I'm looking forward to see what's waiting behind this doors. I will keep you guys updated through the summer on what's going on thank you #stillgunnasendit Ståle Eggen #799
For our Pro Open rider Mitch King his season ended up on a high note, finishing all 3 days with a top 5 position, riding consistent all weekend. There were plenty of great battles on the track this season, even a few with Stale that made things interesting. Mitch is a great asset to the team, this young likeable man brings a level of energy that inspires the team and is a great mentor to our younger riders. Great season #18 proud of what you have done! Here is what Mitch had to say about his weekend and season; What a crazy season! I can definitely say that I had a blast racing and could not be happier than I was riding with the whole Bailey Motorsports team this season. Everyone involved from my teammates to the Mechanics and Stu himself have contributed to making this one heck of a ride! As for my performance this weekend, I had one goal coming into the weekend and that was to be top 5 in all three finals. I was in a tight points battle with my teammate Eggen for 5th place and was looking to do all I could to finish well. I was able to meet my goals and ended off the season with one of my best races of the year going in the 3 main events over the weekend. Unfortunately for me, Eggen bettered me in the heat races and edged me out for the top 5 spot in points. I want to congratulate him on all he is accomplished over here, he is once heck of a rider and an even better team mate and friend, I am really going to miss that him around the trailer. As a whole I am happy with my 2017 racing season. One of my main goals was to work on my consistency, and although it is not quite where it needs to be yet I made huge improvements over previous seasons. Although I fell short of my goal to get on the podium (best finish was a 4th) and finish top 5 in points (ended up 6th overall) I was able to earn 8 top 5 finishes and battling up there with the front runners by the end of the season I am proud of how I finished. All of this wouldn t have been possible without the awesome support of the Bailey Motorsports crew and all of the sponsors who support us. Till Next Year! Mitch #18 Racing the Pro Lite class, #729 Ryan Hunt really showed he belonged at the top of this tough class. From winning the first race of the season to stepping on the podium at the last one, Ryan always had a mindset to finishing the season on the box. He and his mechanic Goodale, worked hard as a team to make improvements to the sled each week as did Ryan on his riding skill, mid-week at the practice track. Special thanks to Ryan, as he is responsible for much of our Social media, graphic design of our sleds, gear and print. Great season Ryan, can t wait to see what 2018 brings! Check out what Ryan had to say about his season; A season to remember. With ups and downs throughout the whole season my second year being in Pro Lite went better than I could've ever thought it could. Getting on the podium several times and three times in the number one spot I'm definitely pumped on those finishes. Throughout the year I had lots of ups and downs some crashes but many good races, races that out way all the bad. Lining up on Friday I didn't have too much good luck in my racing needed to improve for Saturday. Saturday I had good Moto's and not the greatest start in the final leading me to finish in the top 10. Although the weekend so far hadn't been looking up I tried my hardest to look at the bright side and stay positive as it was the last day of racing for the year. Having good Moto's in Pro lite and in Pro I was happy I was ready for the final.
Going to the final for the last time it's definitely a weird feeling as it's the last time you'll be lining up with your fellow competitors for the season. I got a good start and had third in my site I knew that I could make the pass and I just had to wait till the right time. Moving into third my only concern was to stay on the sled and ride safe as the track was one of the roughest tracks we've ever had. Trying to catch second there just wasn't much room for passing and soon I had to work my way to hold off fourth place from getting by. Crossing the checkers and third was definitely a relief after having not the best weekend and a good way to finish off the year strong. I like to thank everyone that supported me and the team all season long and I also can't wait to get to racing and training for next season so I can be better and stronger and faster for the Pro Open class! Congrats to #117 Isaac St. Onge for winning the Sport 1 and Sport 2 Championships! That makes 4 championships in the past 2 years, amazing results without question. Isaac would have to battle back from a points deficit all season long as a result from having to miss one event due to sickness. Each race weekend the St. Onge crew would show up race ready, countless days on our practice track at The Compound and a well prepped race sled would help give Isaac the edge he needed to unleash his talents and dominate the Sport class. Here is how Isaac saw his final race and season at large; The CSRA snowcross series held their final event at horseshoe valley ski resort this past weekend and what a way to end an amazing season with amazing finishes on an unreal track. Horseshoe always hosts an amazing track with lots of spectators and a great event. Through the season I had been behind in points due to a medical condition and been hunting for the number one plate all season long. With a mind set to take that number 1 spot I pushed hard while being consistent allowing me to step on the top of the box basically every weekend. A lot of hard work came from me, my dad and Tom Wilson. I wouldn't have been able to race like I did and win both championships if it wasn't for those two. They have worked so hard and I can t thank them enough for all their effort they put forward throughout the whole season. Skidoo had built a killer sled this year and it allowed us as riders to really ride them to their full potential. The weekend at horseshoe couldn't have gone better. I managed to stay out front every race except for one where I crashed off the start and worked my way up to 4th. Everyone has been pushing really hard this season and I want to congratulate all of you racers for your hard work and amazing riding! A big thanks to Bailey Motorsports for really making me feel a part of the Bailey Motorsport family. Everyone was so supportive and welcoming and I really appreciate everything you guys do for us. Amazing season thanks to everyone I really do appreciate all of your support it means a lot. We ask Isaac s dad Steve for his thoughts on the season, Wow what a finish! We had such an amazing season with an amazing team Can't thank Bailey enough for the support and fun we have had looking forward to the future. We will miss Ståle but carry forward what he has started :) This season the CSRA brought on the Snowbike class to the series and we jumped board to try and help support the class. We did a ton of homework with Derek Uttely from Flybyu Motorsports to determine which snowbike kit would work the best on the track. Super happy we chose
the Yeti kit, it worked awesome, so many great features, especially the ski, it allowed our racers to rail the corners and the traction of the skid propelled us to the front of the pack each and every race. We had three racers on the team full time this season, #218 Nathan Bles, #408 Mark Freeman and #29 Stu Hunt. To start the season, Hunt was out on the track to help promote the sport, never fully intending to race the complete season but the racer inside prevailed and he would go on to take several podiums and finish the year 2 nd overall. Thanks to the CSRA for offering the class, it was great to be involved and help grow the numbers in the sport. Was fun working with Derek at Flybyu and the guys at Yeti to make improvements to the bikes, allowing our riders to dominate the class. Thanks everyone (Stu Hunt) We brought Mark Freeman on board this season to ride the snowbike class, to represent us and to help promote this new class and the CSRA Rockstar Series at large. Mark did a great job! Not only did he podium all season long, but his thousands of followers tuned in each week to follow us, the sport and the series. Thanks for helping make this a successful first season Mark! See what he had to say about his season; All I can say about Horseshoe Valley is WOW! I've never raced up a ski hill before and did it make quite a difference and was super challenging! Friday under the lights we raced down at the bottom in some heavy fog which also made it challenging but interesting! Some spots of the track were bright and some were hard to see, but the whole Bailey motorsports team did well, I ended up 4th overall. Saturday was next level, the hill climb was introduced and I didn't know what to think, we took off from the holeshot and was a full on sprint to the top! I ended up 3rd by the top but fell back to 4th on the icy downhill section, I ended up 4th overall Saturday but was super happy with my results! Sunday came around and I was a little exhausted from two days of racing but I was ready for the final race of the year, I spun both holeshots but made it up to 5th by the top of the hill, kept it calm and collective and finished a great weekend! Thank you to Bailey Motorsports and Flybyu Motorsports for everything and a wonderful race season! I look forward to the 2017/2018 season! Coming into the CSRA Snowcross season with a full Snow Bike ride I wasn't sure what to expect, I hadn't been lined up at the starting line for 5 years or so, when I first got to the Sault it was cold, and a full on blizzard, we lined up at the gate and we were off and right then it all came back to me, like riding a bike! I was back in full racer mode and it felt amazing, I also took first as well! The rest of the season went by like a breeze, I met so many fans and friends and teammates I now call my family, brothers, and sisters. Everyone was so helpful and nice and I felt welcomed right after! Travelling every weekend definitely takes a toll of you but I've been doing it most of my life so I really enjoyed seeing all the new places and different race tracks. After finishing my first snowcross season I'm happy with my year one results and no injuries, especially recovering from a broken back summer Little sad to see Stale Eggen retiring after just meeting him and becoming really good friends with him as a teammate, I look forward to a busy summer 2017 full of moto and training and can't wait for the snowcross season to start next winter! (Freeman)
Introducing the first Canadian Snowbike Champion... #218 NATHAN BLES! We couldn t be happier, Nathan ran an almost perfect season on the bike, showing his competitors and race fans who was the fastest rider each and every week. It was awesome to see his speed and confidence pick up from week to week, by mid-season Nathan was posting lap times as fast as many Pro Open riders. Impressive to say the least! Both he and Mark were great to get to know and they both quickly fit in to the team dynamics, becoming part of the Bailey family. Things couldn t have gone any better for us and the new class of racing. Here is what Nate had to say about his season; What a weekend! Three days is a lot of racing. It went by so fast. I blame all the fun and good times we all had, haha. The track this weekend was NUTS! Super fun yet scary. Racing up and down the hill made it extremely tricky, made for some good passing and racing. I was able to win all my races making it a perfect weekend. I even got to clinch the very first CSRA snowbike championship. Was a great feeling and being able to win for my team was an even better feeling! To think 3 months ago I didn't know anyone under the Bailey race team is odd and crazy. I feel like I have become a part of their family and team. Together we were able to win the first snowbike championship! If you told me that before the series I would have thought no way. We had only one malfunction this year. That's it! Now that is all because of Derek and the team keeping the bikes in great shape (amazing). The rest of the season we one each and every race. Pretty much a perfect season! That is unbelievable to think about it. Wouldn't be possible without the help of the whole team. This is a year to remember for myself and I hope the Bailey Motorsport team. I had so much fun and have so many great memories to recap on. Thanks to everyone one of you that have stepped up and helped out this season. We did it Till next season... #218 Nathan Bles Our novice girl Hailey Belanger had a good season too, showing lots of improvement as the year progressed. Time spent practicing at The Compound sure paid off for this young rider. As we finish up the race season this past weekend at horseshoe valley! Hailey has this to say about it! This season has been amazing for me! It's been full of great ups and down. I've learned a lot this winter from everyone at the Compound, That has help me so much with races. I have had so much fun this season competing with all the girls! I was able to finish 4th, 5th and 7th overall in transition girls for the weekend and 4th, 6th and 6th overall in junior girls I can't wait for next season to start again! But I would like to thank everyone that supported and believe in me this season! Also I would like thank grandpa (Glen) and Shawn the hard work they put in this winter into everything! I going to keep working over brake with my dirt bike and hopefully be ready to go even faster next season! Thanks Hailey #574 It has been great to work with both the KSR Team and E.C. Williams Racing this winter. Two teams full of talented young racers and parents that absolutely support them 100%. The all-girl team at KSR had an amazing season, filled with
podiums and they walk away with the Championship in the Transition Girls Class for Brooklyn, Congratulations Girls! For their full press release, please follow this link Read here some touching words from the team about our partnership this season. Karkoulas Sisters Racing excitedly started this season by announcing a partnership with Bailey Motorsports. At that time, the goal was to mentor and support this young team of racers. Never did either team imagine the impact that this partnership would have on them. The realization came full circle on Sunday, which was the last day of racing for Stale Eggen of Bailey Motorsports, who had decided to retire from snowcross racing. Over the season, Stale had become Zoe s idol and mentor. After the last checkered flag had flown this past weekend, Zoe was called to the Bailey Motorsports trailer by none other than Stale himself, where he gifted her with a signed number plate right from his sled. Zoe spent the entire ride home planning where she would display her prized possession. That is what mentorship is all about. (KSR Team) Zoe #502 : In the end, Zoe accomplished a fifth place final standing in the National Championship for stock 2 and earned a year of valuable experience on her Briggs snowmobile, finishing tenth overall in that class. For the 2017/18 season, Zoe is looking forward to being one of the first kids to race the CSRA circuit on a brand new 200cc snowmobile! Dakota #501: In the end, all the effort paid off and Dakota completed the season with an impressive Third place National Championship. She ended her season in Novice A with sixth overall and Transition mixed class in ninth place. Next season, Dakota has goals of taking over her sister, Brooklyn s, title as Transition Girls champion. Brooklyn #500: Brooklyn was able to take first place in the first moto setting her up for an all or nothing second moto. With nothing to lose but everything to gain, Brooklyn had a great start. A clean inside pass in the first corner was all she needed to get ahead and win the race, securing title of National Champion in the Transition Girls 8-13 class.
The E.C. Williams team wasn t able to compete at all the events as originally planned, but at the ones they did attend they represented the team and our partners very well. These two young boys have the talent to race to the front and did just that at the last event of the season in front of friends and family. Special thanks to Heather Williams who each week put out our press releases and promo flyers for each event, great working with such a nice family. Thank you. Here are some quotes from the EC Williams team, for the full story visit them at Erik Williams #444. Erik had a really great weekend on the track and brought home several pieces of hardware to prove it. The weekend began on Friday with Erik placing 4 th in the Briggs Improved 2 class and then on Saturday he impressed everyone and came away with 2 nd in the Briggs Improved 2 and Champ classes! Erik was thrilled too as the Briggs Improved 2 category was chosen to be featured as part of the main event for the day in front of the big crowds on Saturday! Great riding Erik! Continuing his success on the track Erik placed 5 th in Champ and 3 rd in Briggs Improved 2. All through the weekend Erik also rode stronger and stronger on his Skidoo RS in the Transition class building his confidence riding the full size sled. It was incredible to watch his progress. What an incredible weekend. Christian Williams #445. Christian who once when he was a younger rider for taking his time around the track and waving to people in the stands - was a truly focused rider at Horseshoe Resort this past weekend. To start the Horseshoe race weekend Christian tore up the track and came away with a 3 rd in the Briggs Improved 1 category. On Saturday, Christian had an awesome day and won his first 1 st place award ever in the Briggs Improved 1 final! Incredible! Christian was riding really strong on Sunday as well placing 3 rd and 1 st in the heats for Briggs and even winning the hole shot award sponsored by Dillon Brothers Roofing! Go Christian! Unfortunately he was off on his timing for the start of the final in Briggs Improved and wasn t able to bring home an award for the day but he still had an incredible amount of fun on the track. We are so proud of our boys. Over the 2 CSRA events this season that we attended of Georgian Downs and Horseshoe Resort Erik and Christian were able to bring home a total of 14 awards for their riding! Awesome job Erik and Christian. The team of EC Williams Racing would like to extend a heartfelt thank you all of our sponsors and the team of Bailey Motorsports for their continued support of our team. Without your help, it would not have been possible for our kids to have the success and fun on the track that they did this season. Thank you.
We are a very fortunate group here at Bailey Motorsports, we have families that support our passion and partners that provide us with the best products on the market. Partners that offer us their professional support to help enhance our racing effort. It has been an absolute pleasure to get to know most of you personally over the years, we couldn t do this at the level we do without you! I hope we have done you proud. Thanks to Glen Goodale for giving up his time to build The Compound test facility at his place in Bracebridge. Not only giving our team, but any racer a place to go a practice between events, great Job guys! Thank You All! That s a wrap, the 2017 season, it s been a wild ride. We helped a few become Champions, something they will remember the rest of their lives, for others, we were there to support their dreams. We hope we helped with this and more. For one racer in particular, we hope we gave you more than just the opportunity to race here in Canada, but a place and a family you now can call home for now, forever. Thankfully everyone finished the season healthy and will now move on to enjoy the summer months before we turn our attention back to the sport of snowcross. All the best everyone, thank you for following us all season long.
