1 2006 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 4-Person 60k TEAM TIME TRIAL (4 person max. 3 person min.) SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 TH UTICA, ILLINOIS BIG Thank YOU PYOC / RRB Racing Team Sponsor Bicycle Racers train many hours with their teammates or training partners but seldom race as a TEAM so closely, with so much INTERACTION, each SHARING the load and HELPING each other make it to the finish line as they must do in the TEAM TIME TRIAL. For over 20 years the TEAM TIME TRIAL in UTICA, IL has provided a race experience of true racing together as a TEAM to reach your goal. Many thanks must be given to Pat and Emerson Tidd from Mendota, IL who have worked on this event every year to receive permission to use the roads, parking area, acquiring corner marshals to direct you at turns, and to answer questions from drivers coming through the course. They are an honored part of the Team that puts this event together. Big Thank You to Waltham C.C. District 185 and Waltham Township for use of their parking area for registration, parking and awards ceremony. The frogs or toads were singing their melody at 5:00 am. 54 bicycle race teams, 217 riders age 14 to 80 plus support crew came to Utica, Illinois from around the world to compete in one of the race classes. CLASSES: Open (1~4) Masters 30+ Masters 50+ Masters 70+ Women Open Women 50+ Junior Open Masters 40+ Masters 60+ Masters 65+ Women 40+ Women 60+ (Riders on age group team must be at least the minimum age specified for that age group.) (Teams may consist of any quantity of Men or Women, except Women classes are for Women only) At the start line as the Official Starter gave final instructions and counted down the seconds to the start, the riders voiced words of encouragement, strategy and cautions to their teammates. Every two minutes another Team roll off the start line. A race of 59.5 Kilometers, with an expectation of the time it would take and at the finish the real time. As the Teams finished some came in with heads down exhaustion, some with a joyous cheer, and most used their last bit of energy to finish as soon as possible. The finish time was recorded when the 3 rd member of a Team crossed the finish line, translation your Team is only as fast as the 3 rd rider to finish. The fastest five teams in each class received the following awards for their excellent ride as a TEAM. AWARDS: 1 ST Place: World Championship Jerseys and World Championship Awards each Class. 2 nd through 5 th Place awards for top five teams each class. The five fastest Men and Women Teams receive cash awards for their Excellent Performance Fastest Team cash prize: $240, 2 nd $180, 3 rd $140, 4 th $100 & 5 th $80. Fastest Women Team cash prize: $240, 2 nd $180, 3 rd $140, 4 th $100 & 5 th $80.

2 Early morning rains cleaned the roads of dust and oil. The 10 knot wind forced the rain to other lands and helped dry the roads. Overcast skies helped keep the temperature in the 70 s. Big thanks to Carl for his broom, shovel and blower work in the corners. Congratulations to all the RACE TEAMS on your great performance. I hope a quick recovery to the injured riders of Team Apache - Mary Roe, Lisa Arndt, Jennifer Hill & Barb Hansen and Team Wheel Kwick # 1 - Paul Kendzora, Doug Van Hooser, Robert Cullen & Scott Singer. I hope the physical injuries heal quickly and your love of the sport of bicycling helps you on your road to recovery.
