This is the fourth team Seattle U will face for a second time this season, with the Redhawks holding a -0 record in the three previous instances. After Tuesday s game against the Aggies, Seattle U will play on Elgin Baylor Court only two more times with four road games mixed in. THE UTAH VALLEY GAME: Junior guard Cervante Burrell made several plays in the last five minutes to help Seattle University hold off Utah Valley for a 6-57 victory last Wednesday night at KeyArena at Seattle Center. After Utah Valley pulled ahead, 5-51, on a traditional three-point play from Ben Aird, Burrell found Alex Jones under the basket for a layup that tied the game. Justin Baker hit a jumper to give the Wolverines another lead, but Burrell responded with a game-tying layup, and then hit two free throws with :10 remaining in regulation to put Seattle U ahead, Burrell picked the pocket of Isiah Williams and drove in for a layup with 40 seconds remaining to extend the Redhawk lead to Holton Hunsaker made two free throws to bring Utah Valley to within two, but Seattle U was able to ice the game thanks to two successful free throws each for Garrett Lever and Chad Rasmussen. Burrell led the Redhawks with 15 points and five assists, plus he pulled down seven rebounds. Sterling Carter helped Seattle U take the early lead with 14 first-half points, while Aaron Broussard notched his seventh double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Lever once again played all over the floor, finishing with six points, nine rebounds, a steal, and one blocked shot. Seattle University shot 4.8 percent (-of-66) from the field, including 5-of-17 from behind the three-point line, and 70.6 percent (1-of-17) from the free throw line. The Redhawks won the rebounding battle, 46-, including 17 offensive boards while allowing only five offensive rebounds to the Wolverines..

3 SCOUTING UC DAVIS: The Aggies come into Tuesday s game with an 8-16 record, having lost four straight games and nine of their last 11 contests. UC Davis is -11 away from home, with its last road victory coming at Cal State Fullerton Dec. 8. The Aggies are scoring 68.8 points per game and giving up 70.8 points per contest. As a team, UC Davis is shooting 45. percent from the field, including 7.4 percent from behind the three-point line, and 7. percent from the free throw line. Mark Payne leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.7 points per game as he is shooting 51.6 percent from the field and 8. percent from the free throw line. Joe Harden is scoring 14.6 points per game, while Eddie Miller is the other Aggie averaging in double figures with 10.9 points per game. Ryan Sypkens is the team s leading three-point shooter, going 51-of-116 for a.440 three-point field goal shooting percentage. Todd Lowenthal is averaging 5.1 rebounds and.6 assists per game for the Aggies. SEATTLE U VS. UC DAVIS: This will be the fifth meeting all-time between Seattle University and UC Davis, with the series tied at -. In 00-04, UC Davis hosted Seattle U and earned a victory. These two squads met twice last season, with Seattle University winning both meetings. On Dec. 5, 009, Seattle U traveled to Davis and defeated the Aggies, 88-78, at The Pavilion. Four players scored in double figures for the Redhawks, led by Chris Gweth with points and Charles Garcia with points and 1 rebounds. Dominic Calegari led UC Davis with points and six rebounds, while Mark Payne earned points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals, and four blocked shots. On Feb. 16, 010, at KeyArena at Seattle Center, Seattle U completed the season sweep with an victory. Alex Jones led Seattle U with 4 points, plus he pulled down nine rebounds, and Garcia earned another double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Calegari again led UC Davis with 19 points, while Joe Harden scored 15 points and Todd Lowenthal pulled down a game-high 1 rebounds. Earlier this season, UC Davis defeated Seattle U, 80-58, at The Pavilion Nov. 7, 010. Cervante Burrell led the Redhawks with 18 points and four assists, plus he pulled down five rebounds. THE KEY TO SUCCESS: Since returning to Seattle Center Jan. 1, 009, with a 49-9 victory over Loyola Marymount, Seattle University is 17-6 at KeyArena. The Redhawks finished the season with a 10- home record and has compiled a 6- record at the Key so far in THE LEADER OF THE REDHAWKS: Cameron Dollar is in his second year as the head coach of the Seattle University men s basketball team. After leading the team to a record in , he was named Independent Coach of the Year. He did not need to leave the city of Seattle to accept this position, as he had been an assistant coach at the University of Washington under Lorenzo Romar for seven seasons. In , the Huskies won their first outright Pac-10 regular season title since 195. Dollar also was instrumental in helping Washington reach the Sweet 16 in both 005 and 006. Dollar joined Romar at Saint Louis in 1999, helping the Bilikens win the Conference USA tournament championship in 000. After spending one season as an assistant for Pat Douglass at UC Irvine, Dollar became the nation s youngest head coach in 1998, taking over the program at Southern California College (now Vanguard University), where he went 11- in one season. As a player, Dollar helped UCLA win the 1995 NCAA Championship at the Kingdome in Seattle. BRACKETBUSTERS: On Jan. 1, Seattle University found out that it would be facing Northern Illinois in DeKalb, Ill., this Saturday, Feb. 19, as part of the ESPNU BracketBuster series of games. In September, it was announced that Seattle U would be one of 114 teams to participate in one of the BracketBuster games, a concept which provides programs with an opportunity to play non-conference opponents late in the regular season. Seattle U was one of the 57 designated visiting teams and was matched up with Northern Illinois, a designated home team in the process. Northern Illinois is currently 7-16 overall, including -8 in Mid-American Conference play. The Huskies are led by senior guard Xavier Silas, a transfer from the University of Colorado who is averaging 4. points per game, currently second in the country in scoring average. This will be the first meeting all-time between Seattle U and Northern Illinois and the eighth game Seattle U will play against a current member of the Mid-American Conference. Game time is set for p.m. Central time, and it will be broadcast on 710 ESPN Seattle with Dave Grosby and Gary Hill, Jr. SCANNING THE RADIO DIAL: The Seattle University head men s basketball coach will be a part of a weekly radio show, The Cameron Dollar Show, on 710 ESPN Seattle every Monday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The show will originate from Jimmy s on Broadway, located in the Silver Cloud Hotel at 1100 Broadway. The public is welcome to attend the broadcasts in person, and Jimmy s on Broadway will be offering happy hour pricing during the broadcast.

4 CRACKING THE RECORD BOOKS: With two three-pointers in last Wednesday s game against Utah Valley, freshman guard Sterling Carter now has made 60 threepointers this season, moving into ninth place on the Seattle University list for three-pointers made in a single season. He needs seven long distance baskets to move into eighth place, past Sam Kirby s total of 66 three-pointers. The school record for most three-pointers in a season is currently held by Aaron Waite, who made 89 three-pointers in the campaign. Also, senior Garrett Lever has moved into seventh place on the Seattle U single-season steals list with his 57 steals, passing Kenny Bush s mark of 56 steals from the season. Lever s next targets are Eric Briggs ( ) and Andre Lang (199-9), who each earned 6 steals to currently sit in a tie for fifth place on the list. Ray Brooks holds the singleseason record for steals with 84, accomplished in the season. THE RELUCTANT WARRIOR: Aaron Broussard has emerged as one of the team s go-to players. He started the season with two double-doubles in the first three games, earning 10 points and 10 rebounds in the Maryland and Cal Poly contests. He helped Seattle U earn its first victory of the season with nine points, 1 rebounds, and four assists against Oregon State. He posted career-high scoring totals of 5 points against UC Irvine and 6 points against Navy, pulling down nine rebounds in each contest. Those performances helped put him on the All-Tournament Team at the UC Irvine subregional of the K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer. On Nov. 9, he hit the go-ahead three-pointer on his way to a 0-point, 1-rebound performance as SU defeated Montana State, Broussard currently leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Broussard has notched seven double-doubles so far this season. He needs 14 points to reach the 1,000-point mark for his career. STUFFING THE STAT SHEET: Senior guard Garrett Lever has been doing the little things to contribute to the team s effort so far this season. The son of former NBA player Fat Lever, he has earned.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.75 assists, and.4 steals per game. Lever finds himself in the right places on the court, as he is currently second on the team in rebounding and leads the way in steals for the second straight season. He scored a season-high 11 points, plus he grabbed eight rebounds, at San Francisco on Nov. 1 and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds at UC Irvine on Nov. 0. 5 THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE: Alex Jones started the season by leading the Redhawks with 0 points at Maryland on Nov. 8. He contributed 10 points in the home opener against Cal Poly and 11 points in the Redhawks 8-80 victory over Oregon State. Jones took advantage of a favorable matchup against UC Irvine, finishing with 19 points, four rebounds, and two assists. On Dec. 18 against San Jose State, he scored a season-high 1 points in part on 6-of-6 field goal shooting. He repeated that 1-point performance Jan. 6 against Eastern Washington, shooting 7-of-14 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Jan. 8 against Cal State Northridge, Jones notched a careerhigh 9 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field and 10-of-11 shooting from the free throw line. Overall, he is averaging 10.8 points per game so far this season. POSITIVE TRANSFERS: Two sophomores who transfered to Seattle University from junior college have made a positive impact on the squad so far this season. Chad Rasmussen, a transfer from Tacoma Community College, worked his way into the starting lineup in nine games and is now averaging 15.4 minutes per game. His breakthrough game came on Dec. 4 at Weber State, when he scored 1 points, hitting three shots from behind the three-point line along the way. He scored eight points in Seattle U s first game against Eastern Washington on Dec. 15, and followed that by pulling down a season-high five rebounds Jan. 6 against the Eagles. Brandon Durham connected on the first 11 field goal attempts of his Redhawk career and is currently shooting 5.5 percent from the field. Durham is averaging 16.1 minutes,. points, and.7 rebounds per game. A NATIONAL SCHEDULE: With the addition of the game at Northern Illinois, Seattle University will play at least one game in every time zone in the lower 48 states during the season. The Redhawks started the season in the Eastern time zone at Maryland Nov. 8, plus played a second game in that time zone Dec. at Virginia. Seattle U has played two games this season in the Mountain time zone: at Weber State (Dec. 4) and at Utah Valley (Jan. 1). The remaining 6 contests will take place in the Pacific time zone: 1 games in Washington (1 home games plus Dec. 15 at Eastern Washington), 11 games in California, one game in Oregon (Dec. 1 at Portland State), and one game in Idaho (March 5 at Idaho). This will be the second straight year that Seattle U has played a game in the Central time zone, as the Cameron Dollar era began Nov. 14, 009, in Stillwater, Okla., with Seattle U s game against Oklahoma State.
