ESPN will telecast the intersectional match-up nationally, with live coverage beginning at : p.m. Pacific Time. Ron Franklin will call the action, with Dr. Jerry Punch and Ed Cunningham joining the telecast crew. Washington State is coming off a disappointing - season that included five losses by three or four points, one an overtime setback. WSU led in five of their eight Pac- games last year. Auburn, meanwhile, was 9- last year, tied for first in the SEC West Division at -, and ended the year losing to Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl. The Cougars depart for the game early Friday morning and will return to Pullman immediately after the contest. The trip to Auburn will include a four and a half hour flight from Pullman to Montgomery, Ala., and a one-hour bus ride to Auburn. WSU returns a good portion of last year s very productive offense that ranked eighth nationally, averaging 89 yards per game. Heading the list of returnees will be junior quarterback Alex Brink, who ranked 9th nationally last year in total offense, yards per game, and 6th nationally in passing efficiency, Brink will work behind an offensive line that includes three starters from last season, tackles Charles Harris and Bobby Byrd and guard Sean O Connor. The list of receivers includes four players who started five or more games All- America candidate Jason Hill finished the season third nationally with 9. receiving yards per game and set a WSU record with TD receptions. Michael Bumpus started seven contests in, Chris Jordan six and Brandon Gibson five. All-America candidate Mkristo Bruce heads the Cougar defense after ranking th nationally with.9 sacks per game last year. Also returning on the line will be starting tackles Aaron Johnson and A i Ahmu. inebackers Scott Davis and Steve Dildine and defensive backs Eric Frampton and Husain Abdullah were also starters last year.
