2 2011 STATE BASKETBALL MEDIA PROCEDURES AND EXPECTATIONS Introduction Welcome to the 2011 WIAA ardwood Classic. ere are the general media procedures and expectations. Each of the three sites (Yakima SunDome, Spokane Arena and Tacoma Dome) may have specific guidelines and policies for the media. Make sure you check in with the media coordinator at each site. Obtaining Media Credentials Media credentials for the 2011 ardwood Classic can be obtained by registering on-line at Click on Media in the left hand menu. Prior to the tournament questions can be answered by contacting Conor Laffey at the WIAA. Media floor passes may be picked up at the press pass gate. Media personnel that have not registered in advance will need to show press credentials and identification for a recognized media source in order to obtain a tournament floor pass (not a guaranteed entrance). Media Guides and Information All approved media personnel will receive their credential, media packet and tournament information when checking in at the pass gate. ardwood Classic Ethics and Expectations The ardwood Classic staff has the responsibility of limiting access to the floor to persons acting in an official capacity (coaches, assigned workers, cheerleaders and credentialed media). It is a high priority to limit the distractions for the competitors and protect viewing rights for spectators. FOR TAT REASON WE ASK TAT YOU CAREFULLY READ TE ETICS AND EXPECTATIONS ON TE REVERSE SIDE. ardwood Classic Media Expectations Electronic Media (Radio and Television) Sportscasters and camera personnel will be admitted to the floor for a short period of time to shoot their required footage. Print Media (Newspapers, Magazines) Media credentials must be displayed in plain view. Credentials are not transferable unless arranged in advance. Persons without plainly displayed credentials will not be admitted to the floor or will be asked to leave the floor. All credentialed media representatives must re main neutral and are not to wear school logo or parent of.. apparel. Photographers covering matches may position themselves at the edge of the floor in a sitting position so as to not obstruct the view. Abuses of these procedures and expectations may result in removal from the floor and loss of credentialed access. The Classification Managers are responsible for maintaining control of the mat area. Please respect the rights of others, and the event, by adhering to these expectations at all times during the tournament. Persons obtaining media credentials through fraudulent means may be removed from the tournament and referred to Dome security for possible prosecution. 2 WIAA.COM
