1 LORI WALKER HEAD COACH 14TH SEASON NORTH CAROLINA Student-athletes who choose to pursue their soccer careers at Ohio State University are instructed, mentored and cared-for by an innovative and expert coaching staff led by North Carolina graduate and Big Ten Coach of the Year Lori Walker. Now in her 14th year on the Columbus campus, Walker and her staff have led the Buckeyes to five NCAA tournament appearances in the last eight years, most recently in 2009 when the team was seeking a Big Ten Conference championship on the final day of the regular season. BEST BIG TEN FINISH Walker, along with talented and creative assistant coaches that include associate head coach and recruiting coordinator Greg Miller and Glen Tourville, who has 18 years experience as a collegiate head coach, came so close to guiding the Buckeyes to a first-ever Big Ten championship in Ohio State fashioned a record in the Big Ten with a 1-0 loss in the final regular season game the only hurdle to a conference championship. That setback didn t end the season for Ohio State, though. The Buckeyes outstanding body of work during the regular season - a overall mark and a advantage in goals scored - resulted in an at-large invitation into the NCAA Tournament with Ohio State the host school for the opening rounds with Florida, Oregon State and Illinois State selected for games at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Walker was named the 2009 Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as her team set all-time bests for highest Big Ten finish, most Big Ten wins, fewest losses in a season and fewest goals allowed in a season. THE LORI WALKER WAY Coach Walker and her staff instruct through a blend of team and character-building exercises and individual skill development that creates a perfect chemistry for winning games and reaching goals. Ohio State s players thrive in the successes from all their work on the pitch, and they also have a tremendous respect and appreciation for their coaches. For example, when members of the team were asked to complete the sentence Ohio State coaches the responses were glowing, sincere and included...take great pride in everything they do,...are wonderful teachers and supporters,...are full of surprises, and...push you to your fullest and to where you need to get better. Credit Walker for assembling such a terrific staff and for allowing her assistants the freedom to coach, to lead and to experiment. That s what experience as a coach will allow and Walker s experience, soccer knowledge and ability to build skills extend way beyond the impressive Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium and the lovely Ohio State campus. WINS, CHAMPIONSHIPS AND NCAAs Walker has 15 years experience as a Division I head coach with two years as head coach at the University of Kansas she was the first coach in KU history preceding her 13 completed seasons at Ohio State. The Scarlet and Gray shattered numerous program standards that year, including most goals (62), assists (63), shutouts (13) and goals-against average of The season included a nine-match win streak and a 13-game unbeaten run. The team was at home. In 2007, Ohio State won its first 10 games at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium to establish another program first before finishing 10-2 at home. The team advanced to the Big Ten tournament championship game with a win over Indiana and a penalty-kick shootout decision over Penn State. The season was highlighted by an invitation to the NCAA tournament. Ohio State qualified for its 13th Big Ten tournament appearance in 2008, winning six consecutive games in the proccess. Included was a stunning, 1-0, win at Penn State that snapped the Nittany Lions 67-game Big Ten unbeaten streak at Jeffrey Field and dating to 1995, Prior to taking over at Ohio State for the 1997 season, Walker spent two seasons at Kansas, where she started the program and compiled a record in two seasons coaching a team of predominantly freshmen and sophomores. 10

Lori Walker on Danica: Danica possesses the athletic and technical tools to have a great impact in our program and the Big Ten. Her Canadian Youth National Team and U-17 World Cup experience, along with a high soccer IQ, and strong work ethic should bode well in our midfield next year. 19 FREE ADMISSION Ohio State home games at the wonderful Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium are now free to the general public. That s right! For the second year in a row, admission is free for friends, fans and families to enjoy all the exciting action of Ohio State women s soccer (as well as numerous other Ohio State sports that won t charge admission this season). The home schedule is a good one, too, with Big Ten action kicking off against Penn State and including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan State. Home games against regional rivals Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Marquette, West Virginia, Akron and Cleveland State highlight the non-conference slate. So make it a priority to attend some women s soccer games this season at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Bring your family. Bring a carload. Good seats won t cost you a cent. 28
