2 Welcome to the 29th Annual Minnesota Prep Bowl Minnesota became the sixth state to conduct its State Football Championships in a domed stadium in Other states conducting title games in domed facilities include Washington (Kingdome, Seattle); Michigan (Silverdome, Pontiac); Louisiana (Superdome, New Orleans); Iowa (University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls); South Dakota (University of South Dakota, Vermillion); Indiana (Hoosier Dome, Indianapolis); and Idaho (Minidome, Pocatello). A seventh state now is North Dakota with their state championships conducted in Fargo (Fargodome). Limited copies of this Media Guide, Depth Charts, and programs are available, so please try to hang on to them. Take only what you need. If I or Media Steward Steve Anderson can be of assistance, do not hesitate to contact us. FORMAT & GAME TIMES Four games (9-Man, A, AA & AAAAA) will be played Friday, Nov. 26. Kickoff for the first game will not actually occur until 10:12 a.m. to allow KSTC TV to set the stage for the day s broadcast and after the 10:09 a.m. National Anthem. The following games could begin prior to or later than the scheduled starting times of 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. Two games (AAA and AAAA) will be played Saturday, Nov. 27. Kickoff for the first game will not actually occur until 12:12 p.m. The second game could begin prior to or later than the scheduled starting times of 3:00 p.m. The amount of time between games will be 30 minutes to allow for awards and warm-ups for the next game, except a few minutes extra between the end of the Class AA game and start of the Class AAAAA game on Friday to allow for presentation of colors and national anthem. All halftimes will be 18 minutes. SCHEDULED TV BROADCAST BREAKS There will be three 60-second breaks taken by KSTC TV during each quarter. Plus, there will be one 60-second break at the end of both the first and third quarter.. TV will use team time-outs whenever possible. Halftimes will be 18 minutes. TELEPHONES & INTERNET ACCESS Media are responsible for providing their own telephone lines. A pay phone is located near the entrance of the Football Press Box. There is a free but unsecure wireless network available in the press box (Network = FBPB1; Password = M0Afie1d... M-Zero-A-f-i-e-One-d). STATISTICS Quickie halftime statistics are made available; and complete individual and team statistics and a play-by-play description will be made available after the game. INTERVIEWS LOCKER ROOMS at League state tournaments ARE CLOSED to all reporters and photographers. Participants and coaches can be made available for interviews outside of the locker rooms. The League Board of Directors STRONGLY RECOMMENDS that media personnel honor a 5-minute cooling off period before interviewing representatives of participating teams. At the conclusion of the final game each day only, and after the cooling off period and after any awards ceremony, reporters and photographers are permitted on the field, but must not interfere with personnel associated with the live television broadcast by KSTC TV. SIDELINE POLICIES FOR REPORTERS & PHOTOGRAPHERS Still photographers may work from the press box or from the sidelines; and may work within the designated bench area only with the permission of that team s head coach. Reporters and photographers working on the sidelines must: 1) visibly wear a News Media Credential issued by the League; 2) stay off the playing field and behind the dotted restraint line at all times before, during and after the game, including time-outs; 3) never obstruct the view of a ticket holder; 4) make special arrangements with the Tournament Manager if stationary tripods will be used; typically, tripods must be placed at least five (5) yards away from the sidelines or the end line on the field level; 5) not wear apparel with any visible advertising.

3 GAME ACTION VIDEO EXCLUSIVITY KSTC TV has exclusive rights to all game action on the field. Media credentials issued to all other media personnel authorize the holder to only shoot video of non-game action (e.g. player interviews, crowds, coaches). Media using any televised game action video must adhere to the following guidelines: A) Video highlights for over-the-air television or cable television sportscasts must be recorded from KSTC TV s off-air signal only, and use must not exceed two minutes in duration per day. Live simulcasting is prohibited. All media organizations that use video highlights of KSTC TV s off-air game action must give on-screen synchronous credit to KSTC TV for a minimum of 5 seconds as the video airs. B) Video highlights used by any other media must be recorded from KSTC TV s off-air signal only, and use must not exceed two minutes in duration per day and must be removed from a Web site no later than 24 hours after the conclusion of that live event. Permanent archiving of video highlights is prohibited. Live simulcasting is prohibited. All media organizations that use video highlights of KSTC TV s off-air game action must give on-screen synchronous credit to KSTC TV for a minimum of 5 seconds as the video airs. MEDIA PERSONNEL ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE FIELD AT ANY TIME, EVEN DURING WARMUPS. Only KSTC TV personnel and photographers working for the Minnesota State High School League have access to the playing field at the conclusion of all games that are televised. All other photographers and reporters are prohibited from entering the playing field at the conclusion of all games. If a photographer on the sideline believes his/her view is being impeded by tournament personnel, direct your concern to one of the Metrodome security officials along the sideline wearing bright yellow jackets. Questions regarding photography policies should be directed to Howard Voigt, MSHSL, in the football press box. REFRESHMENTS Refreshments, including pop, coffee and popcorn will be available throughout the day in the press box. SEATING There are a few assigned seats in the lower press box and they are marked. KSTC TV and radio broadcasters have assigned booths in the upper press box. NO TOBACCO & NO CHILDREN In keeping with League Board Policy of promoting a chemical-and tobacco-free atmosphere for high school activities, the press box and entire Metrodome is SMOKE FREE during all League events. All use of tobacco is prohibited. If you smoke or chew, you MUST do so OUTSIDE the building. Your media credential will allow you re-entry. The press box is a professional working environemnt and children are not allowed. Howard W. All you will need to follow each game will be a laptop that has wireless capabilities. Instructions for accessing the games: 1) Find and connect to the wireless network MSHSL2. 2) Search for and find a computer named statserver. 3) Once found, you need to navigate to the following folder tas\fbview. 4) Double-click on the fbview.exe file. If asked for a user name and password, use mshsl in both instances. 5) Click on the View button. You should now be able to view the current game. 6) Should the screen go blank, click on the F5 key to refresh. If for some reason this real-time system fails, live stats (albeit slightly delayed) will also be available on the League Web site. Printed statistics are distributed at halftime and at game s end.

Voigt / MSHSL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE State Football Tournament Totino-Grace to defend Class AAAA title; Eight teams remain undefeated Totino-Grace of Fridley is the only defending champion that has survived the first two rounds of tournament play. The Eagles are in the hunt for their second consecutive Class AAAA title and their eighth overall. Eight teams that made it to their respective championship games still boast unblemished records. The 2010 Prep Bowl will be conducted over two days, Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis. KSTC-TV, Channel 45 will broadcast all six games live, as well as feed numerous cable systems around the state. The games will also be streamed live for free Web viewing at (Note: All game times listed with an * are approximate start times. Games could start before or after those times. There will be about 30 minutes between the conclusion of one game and the start of the next game.) Friday, Nov. 26 Class 9-Man: Lanesboro (11-2) vs. Cromwell 10 a.m. The Cromwell Cardinals are making their second consecutive and 15th overall appearance, while the Lanesboro Burros return for the fourth appearance, but first since Cromwell lost in the quarterfinals last year and is hoping to win its fourth title. They won previously in 1995, 1996, and Cromwell has a formidable ground game. The Cardinals have rushed for 2,822 yards on 505 attempts. Senior quarterback Jordan Suhonen has 145 rushing attempts for 1,218 yards and has scored 20 touchdowns. Dylan Mattson, another senior, added another 698 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Senior Derek Suhonen is the leading tackler with 138, three fumble recoveries, and one interception. Cromwell has averaged 22.3 points per game while holding opponents to 11.4 points per game. Lanesboro did not submit team or individual statistics. Class A: Barnesville (13-0) vs. New Ulm Cathedral 1 p.m.* Both teams lost in the quarterfinals of the 2009 tournament. The Barnesville Trojans are making their second consecutive and third overall appearance, and the New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds are MORE

5 Page Prep Bowl Advance News Release making their third consecutive and seventh overall appearance. Both teams are still looking for that elusive first championship. Barnesville gains most of its yardage and scores most of its touchdowns on the ground. Senior Zach Hochhalter has scored 14 rushing touchdowns and netted 993 yards on 120 attempts. Junior Colby Braton added nine rushing touchdowns and has tallied 784 yards on 143 attempts. When the Trojans take to the air they depend on junior quarterback Robbie Strand. He has 1,063 passing yards and completed 54 of 95 attempts for 18 touchdowns. Sophomore Austin Martz leads the defense with 87 tackles and four interceptions. Barnesville averages 40.5 points per game while opponents average 8.2 points per game. The New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds averaged 37.1 points per game this season and held their opponents to an average of 11.5 points. Junior Eric Hauser and senior Kevin Larson lead the offensive charge. Hauser is the main ball carrier and has gained 965 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. Larson completed 63 percent of his pass attempts and connected with receivers for 1,377 yards and 21 touchdowns, primarily to senior Brandon Berg, who is credited with 422 yards and eight touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Berg has accounted for 88 tackles. Hauser had an additional 64 tackles and four interceptions. Class AA: Caledonia (13-0) vs. Triton, Dodge Center 4 p.m.* The Caledonia Warriors are making their fourth consecutive and seventh overall appearance, while the Triton Cobras return to tournament action after a one-year hiatus to make their ninth appearance. The Warriors lost in the quarterfinals last year, but won two previous championships in 2007 and The Cobras are also searching for their third championship, having won previously in 2000 and Caledonia likes to keep the ball on the ground with senior running backs Ivan Augedahl and Josh Gran. Augedahl accounted for eight touchdowns and 944 rushing yards, and Gran added another 14 touchdowns and 437 rushing yards. Gran also completed 97 of his 176 passing attempts and connected with senior Lucas Lampert for 13 receiving touchdowns. Lampert also led the Warriors with seven interceptions and senior Zach Lechner had a team-high 78 tackles. Caledonia averages 35.9 points per game and their opponents score an average of 5.2 points against them. Triton also relies heavily on its running game. The Cobras compiled 3,474 yards on the ground this year with senior Jason Jennings accounting for 1,383 of them. Jennings also tallied 16 rushing touchdowns on 210 carries. Senior quarterback Logan Spitzack completed 51 percent of his pass attempts and tossed 10 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. Spitzack intercepted nine passes playing defense and senior Kyle Thaden had a team-high 153 tackles. Triton averages 30.4 points per game while holding opponents to 11.7 points per game. Class AAAAA: Rosemount (12-0) vs. Wayzata 7 p.m.* The Rosemount Irish return to tournament action after a one-year absence. This is their sixth appearance. 6 Page Prep Bowl Advance News Release Wayzata Trojans, who are looking for their third title, are making their fourth consecutive and 10th overall appearance. They lost in the quarterfinals last year but won previous championships in 2005 and This year s Rosemount squad depends heavily on its ground game. Senior Andrew Hausmann rushed for 17 touchdowns this year and tallied 993 yards on 200 carries. Senior quarterback Kevin Larson added 1,026 rushing yards on 126 carries and accounted for 13 additional touchdowns. Larson also completed 47 percent of his passing attempts and connected for 795 yards and nine touchdowns. Senior David Morgan was Larson s favorite target with 17 catches and three touchdowns this year. On the defensive side, junior Matt Larson and Morgan had 84 and 78 tackles, respectively. Rosemount averages 32.1 points per game while holding opponents to This year s Wayzata squad is competent both through the air and on the ground. Senior quarterback Sasha Doran connected on 61 percent of his pass attempts for 947 yards and 14 touchdowns. He tossed 22 of those passes to senior Tanner Helgren, who tallied seven touchdowns and 438 yards. Sophomore Mitch Underhill and senior Aaron Roth led the Trojans ground game this year. Underhill had 88 carries for 761 yards and nine touchdowns, and Roth added 613 yards and eight touchdowns. Senior David Boegel and junior Ryan Poppitz had 91 and 87 tackles, respectively, for Wayzata. The Trojans averaged 32.0 points per game this year and their opponents averaged 11.2 against them. Saturday, Nov. 27 Class AAA: Rochester Lourdes (13-0) vs. Holy Family Catholic, Victoria Noon The Eagles of Rochester Lourdes are making their eighth appearance. Their last appearance was in 2008 and they won their only previous championship in The Fire of Holy Family Catholic also return after a one-year hiatus to make their second appearance. They are still in the hunt for their first championship. Rochester Lourdes ran an extensive ground game this year with senior Adam Lentz gaining 1,434 yards on 217 attempts and rushing for a team-high 21 touchdowns. Senior quarterback Nic Jensen also tallied 635 yards on the ground and ran for 12 touchdowns. Jensen also netted 1,170 yards on 60 pass completions and hit senior Alex Kapraun with four touchdown tosses. Kapraun also led the Eagles defense with 160 tackles. Shane McGrath, another senior, added 159 tackles and had a team-high six interceptions. Rochester Lourdes averaged 35.7 points per game and allowed opponents 10.7 points per game. Holy Family Catholic rushed for 4,107 yards this season while netting just 1,691 yards passing. Senior quarterback Jeff Soule leads the ground game, rushing for 2,040 yards and 23 touchdowns. Soule also completed 63 percent of his pass attempts and threw for 17 additional touchdowns. Senior Peter Westerhaus caught 48 of Soule s passes and turned them into 778 yards and 11 touchdowns. Westerhaus also led the Fire s defense with 136 tackles. Holy Family Catholic averaged 43.5 points per game, while allowing opponents 16.5 points per game. MORE

7 Page Prep Bowl Advance News Release Class AAAA: Totino-Grace, Fridley (11-1) vs. Rogers (12-0) at 3 p.m.* The defending champions from Totino-Grace are making their second consecutive and 20th overall appearance. They are looking for their eighth championship. In addition to last year, the Eagles also won titles in 1977, 1978, 2003, 2004, 2006, and The Royals of Rogers are making their second consecutive and overall tournament appearance. They lost in the quarterfinals last year. Totino-Grace relies heavily on its running game, accumulating 3,202 yards this season. Seniors Xavier Fust and Ashford Kromah scored 14 and 13 touchdowns, respectively. Fust netted 717 yards on 93 carries for the Eagles, and Kromah added 879 yards on 101 carries. When it comes to passing, senior quarterback Alex Kreuser completed 61 percent of his attempts for 1,347 yards and 16 touchdowns. Senior Colin Hustad leads the Eagles with 126 tackles. Totino-Grace averaged 40.3 points per game while holding opponents to a mere 9.7. The Royals of Rogers netted 3,018 yards on the ground this year and another 1,591 through the air. Senior quarterback Bjorn Bloom connected on 57 percent of his pass attempts for 18 touchdowns. His favorite receiver, senior Derek Vidor, caught 44 passes and accounted for 703 yards and 10 touchdowns. Senior Josh Wickoren gained 980 yards on the ground on 132 carries and also ran for 16 touchdowns. On the defensive side, senior Alex Meixell had 118 tackles. Rogers averaged 36.7 points per game while holding opponents to 9.3 per game Tournament results will be posted on the League s Web site ATTENTION RADIO STATIONS: The Minnesota Broadcasters Association has again arranged for installation of two telephone lines in each of five radio booths at the Metrodome for the Prep Bowl games. The League will make booth assignments. The two phone lines will accommodate two stations due to the tight schedule between games (30 minutes) and to allow radio stations to share booths if necessary. The MBA will later bill stations based on their usage of the lines.

We have stayed somewhat healthy and have come ready to play every Friday night. We have played outstanding defense this year, only 2 teams have scored touchdowns on our first defense. Significant records, statistics, achievements of this team: We won the section title for the 4th time in 5 years. Nobody has scored a td on us in the second quarter this year. Noteworthy data on individual players: We feel we have 6 kids who could play division 2 football if they wanted. Adam Lentz has a chance to become the schools all-time leading rusher and total touchdowns. Alex Kapruan is the schools all-time leader in tackles. Other Interests and Achievements of team personnel: This team really gives back, they have hosted a team dinner at the gift of life transplant house as well as other community events. This team is the most unselfish team i have ever coached.
