Tonight s game is the first of a six-game home stand for the Blues and the first of four matches against the Canucks this season. Vancouver Connection: Blues veteran forward Paul Kariya was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. Among Kariya s many career achievements, he was inducted into the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame as a member of Canada s 2002 gold-medal Olympic team in Paul has faired very well against his hometown team in his career scoring 49 points (19G, 30A) in 49 games played. Other Blues players from the Vancouver area include Barret Jackman (Trail, British Columbia) and captain Eric Brewer (Vernon, British Columbia) who now calls Vancouver home in the off-season. VS. ATLANTA The Blues played their third consecutive overtime game and their second consecutive shootout tilt Sunday afternoon in Atlanta. After a scoreless first period, the Blues broke the dead lock in the second period as Andy McDonald returned to the lineup and notched his fifth goal of the season. St. Louis added to their lead in the third when David Perron tipped in a point-shot from Eric Brewer giving the Blues a 2-0 lead. Atlanta came back though as Tobias Enstrom scored from the slot to make it 2-1 and Ron Hainsey tied the game minutes later after he threw a puck at the net that took a bizarre bounce and handcuffed Blues goalie Ty Conklin. After a scoreless overtime, Rich Peverley and Slava Kozlov tallied shootout goals and the Thrashers collected a 3-2 victory. Ty Conklin got the start in goal for the Blues and was superb, stopping 38 of 40 Thrashers shots.
